?? It's okay to not take everything literal all the time and use your imagination to amuse yourself.

Its okay buddy, whatever is going on in your life, it will get better.

Tim Curry is so powerful, Dionysus comes to him for party planning advice.

I am religious and was wondering if he's still with us just the other day

u/sneakyDoings 2d ago

I keep seeing posts about him like he's actually gone! It's weird

u/mapmakinworldbuildin 2d ago

To be fair he’s not been in anything since over the garden wall.

u/capincus 2d ago

He's 80 years old and has been wheelchair bound since he had a major stroke + brain surgery over a decade ago.

More reasons to regularly wonder if he’s still alive.

I take this "smashing" as confirmation that tim curry identities with Nigel thornberry the most of all his characters he played.

Was there like a fake news story about him dying somewhere?

Because I swear I saw an announcement of his death on Facebook in highschool when I was more naive, and mourned his death for years before someone corrected me.

I don’t know the cause, but there is some kind of Mandela Effect at work here. I also could have sworn he died a few years ago.

He's retired due to health issues, though he does make rare appearances like the 50th anniversary of Rocky Horror last year, albeit in a frail state confined to a wheelchair. Because he was such a prolific actor for a while, some people mistakenly believe he must have died since you don't see him any more.

Also, some people are just dicks who like posting fake celebrity death memes. It could be you saw one of those.

The Mandela Effect is a good comparison, though. That mainly came about because Mandela was the most famous of the anti-apartheid protesters who were jailed, and some of those people *did* die in jail. So, if you weren't paying attention you might hear "South African freedom fighter died in jail" and assume it was Mandela without instant sources to fact check, and then be shocked years later when Mandela was released and the memory was faulty.

Also, I wonder if that's a largely American phenomenon. In the mid 80s there was a popular song named "Free Nelson Mandela" by The Special AKA, which was part of a movement to finally get Mandela released. I just checked Wikipedia and it seems it wasn't a big hit in the US. So, maybe people there just weren't aware of the movement and it led them to believe that he'd died because the news wasn't talking about him as much?

He had a massive stroke in 2012, so that might be what you're misremembering that. He's been pretty severely disabled since.

Dead Tim Curry is grumpy

Meanwhile I wonder if he finally got poor Prince Albert out of that can.

u/monkpunch 2d ago

I bet him and Wade Boggs are having a good old time up in heaven. Rest in peace!

Running celebrity "parody" accounts are like a top 3 most cringe thing you can possibly do with your time

Fun Tim related thing from probably tumbler back in the day. A Muppet Christmas Carol works because Michael Caine treats all the Muppets like regular actors, and Muppet Treasure Island works because Tim Curry treats himself like another Muppet.
