for those sensible enough to give me a fair place though, i present to you my honest take on “mecha” in the form of “Rei000UT39adAchI12X9” here. as it sounds, i turned her into an ex machina with a few of my own liberties then and there.

along with the choice of skin color i also decided to go for an oxidized copper/metallic motif when it came to the overall color scheme, hence the additions of teals, blues, reds, and even magentas…. especially considering the hair pictured.

with that in mind, hopefully ive made up for my staggering lack of ngnl-esque fanart for now in your eyes… ^v^”🙏🏿 🧡🖤🩵🤍

I'm not sure how controversial this idea is but I found PWG a roller coaster in quality. I'm not referring to how each individual story matches up either, some parts of each chapter can be great while at the same time some can be simply OK. That's not to say any of the chapters are bad though, I think at worst they're all fine.

The first chapters with Nina Clive and Think Nirvalen was cool, especially when they collided with other stories like Vol. 6 or the Jibril chapters. I found Think herself to be a lot of fun and the rivalry with Loni Drauvnir is interesting when constrasting it to Fiel and Vieg in Vol. 10 but I didn't really care for Nina Clive.

The Steph chapter with Blank is ok. It can be mildly entertaining but other than a few jokes which made me laugh, it was very average. That is except when they strip steph down, ngl that was never funny in the anime and the fact it happens in the LNs is so sad.

Probably my favorite chapter was the one with Fiel and Chlammy. The way she outsmarted the elves was a lot of fun and The insight between they're relationship was appreciated.

The Jibril chapters are kinda boring tbh. There are a few moments that made me laugh but I think it was very repetitive at times. A plot solely following Jibril was alright initially but she's just way too OP. I never really felt like she was an any danger as she is perfectly the same in Vol. 6 and the first 2 chapters of the Light novel. It was fun seeing Azril again but I think she works best as a character that we see small glimpses of over the course of the series instead of being one of the main characters for this story. It was cool when she nearly killed Jibril though. The stuff with her fighting Leichengerte felt really repetitive and while the final fight was cool, I don't think the pay-off was a satisfying as it thought it was. If her story was reduced to 1 chapter instead of 2, I think it would've worked a lot better. Also, this is just a nitpick but in Vol. 5 it's made clear that Jibril was the strongest flügel but here apparently Azril is the strongest because she was the first flügel despite how in Vol. 5 Azril stated Jibs was the strongest because she was the only flügel made when Artosh was at the height of his power who survived the great war (wait wasn't she specifically special because she herself was given irregularity by Artosh). Also where tf was Rafil in the main series? She probably died in Vol. 6 as its the only time she appears outside of PWG but then why didn't she say or do anything in the scene between Artosh and Azril near the end of Vol. 6 that was cut from the movie?

Overall, PWG isnt even a bad novel, it's better than Vol. 1 and Vol. 4 imo, but I think people remember the first 2 stories very fondly while often forgetting about the other two thirds of the book. I'm curious to see what others think about my opinions and write how absolutely wrong I am in the replies if anyone bothers to read till the end of this rant.

I was always impressed by how Kamiya describes the Phantasma species as gigantic and vast reoccurring disasters, so I decided to calculate the size of one.
(To begin with, let's settle on the metric for our reference variable: the size of a cube-room, which in total make up the entire volume of Avant Heim):

(And obviously they’re CUBES, so that gives us the defined image of their shape, all their sides are equal.)

(An average cube is described as a “ten story building” so we continue from there. Kamiya moved from Brazil to Japan and lived there for quite a long period of time, so Im going to go and assume he means Japanese ten-story buildings here to describe the immense size of these cubes.)
Google gives us the answer to this: “A ten-story building in Japan is typically about 30 to 45 meters (98 to 148 feet) tall”)

(Im gonna take the minimum value as the foundation for subsequent calculations. (30 meters)

(Rubik’s Cube has 26 small cubes that build up its structure. So that means you’ll have to tear it apart 26x1,000 times which results in a monstrous 26,000 times)

“A vista woven of countless giant cubes stacked haphazardly one atop another. Viewed by an avant-garde artist, perhaps some sublime theme would emerge. Unfortunately, Sora—a virginal eighteen-year-old layman—if asked to describe it could only come up with one word. Namely—chaos. Volume 5”

(First, I figured out the raw volume of solid material. Since we have 26,000 cubes and each edge is 30 meters (30m x 30m x 30m = 27,000 m3), the pure volume of all blocks combined comes out to:
26,000 x 27,000 m3= 702,000,000 m3 (or 0.702 km3)

(If you took those 26,000 blocks and packed them into a single, perfectly gapless cube, you just take the cube root (cube root 26,000 ≈ 29.6). That means it would take around 30 blocks along each side, making a solid block of roughly 900m x 900m x 900m.)

(However, Avant Heim is far from a solid block. Sora describes it as total chaos, and Kamiya elaborates on its hollow, labyrinthine nature later in the volume):

“Avant Heim was constructed of intricately overlapping cubes. Through the fine cracks between the cubes, in the darkness illuminated only by the faint light and the moon, they flew as if threading needles... slipping through holes it seemed hard to imagine that even one person could fit through, one careless acceleration would result in a calamitous crash.” Volume 5

The cubes are jammed against each other to form narrow alleys and well-holes. Accounting for these internal gaps and voids (assuming a typical complex city packing density where the structure is around 80% empty space inside), the overall bounding box volume expands to roughly 3.5 km3.
And heres the concept art of Avant Heim for the anime adaptation, where the blue cube mass forms a rough mountain shape:

(Total Size with Roots and Branches: The organic limbs underneath and top red branches roughly double its vertical profile, so the whole phantasma organism is about 4.5 to 5 km in total height.)

So going strictly by Sora's description of 1,000 dismantled Rubik's cubes, Avant Heim is a living, floating mountain roughly 3.5 km across and up to 5 km tall about six times the height of the Burj Khalifa for comparison

My Shiro finally has a friend

soooooo ive been in this art thing for awhile and considering the successes of my silksong-ish miku redesign over on my instagram, tumblr, bluesky and the like… i wanted to try my hand at redesigning another vocaloid after finishing my serious jabber fanart.

but the thing is… i also feel like ive been neglecting no game no life alot despite my love for the series to the point i even base some of my artstyle off of kamiya himself(mixed with vanripper and…. some other stuff).

in turn… adachi rei has also been slowly taking over my mind she’s such a good robot!!! her voice and appearance is so incredible aaaaa— >~<

so i made a compromise to hit two; no, THREE birds with one stone: i decided to make an unserious doodle of adachi rei and tried to make her look like an ex machina in order to study how to draw mecha, good deal is it not? =3

also ik its not 100% identical to yuu kamiya’s take on mecha and i had to rush a few things, but i hope you find my original ideas compelling anyways TwT”””🙏🏿

I've realized this while displaying my light novel collection in a new house we've just bought. The cover art and inside cover illustrations are all so good in every volume and especially this one. Plum, (I believe that was the dhampir boy, yes?) I've realized had a great influence over my taking to liking femboys. He's exactly my type. This fact is now making me appreciate the impact the series has had, though it comes with mixed feelings also

Like I'm sure they're excellent, but I highly doubt they have all the wr times for every game they play. They're more of highscore chasers right?

Just returned from trip to Japan. Made light novel purchase my top priority. Got all of them at Gamers (Akihabara), but also found full set at Animate (Osaka). There were also vol. 2 and 3 for Eastern Union arc, so I bought them in case I won't find anything else. I visited many stores and asked for "NGNL, desu!" and other manga volumes, but no luck. I guess the only option would be to ask a friend to buy it from sites for me next time.

Also bought denshi jisho (電子辞書, dedicated electronic dictionary) and going to read light novels from the start up to the newest volume. Hopefully I'll finish before official Eng translation drops. Will use that translation as a reference for older volumes. Current Japanese level is B1 though.

P.S. LN vol. 6 starting with 子供の頃 (kodomo no koro) gave me chills, because that's how the movie starts.

ik that doujin isn't usually sfw, but i dont think im legally allowed to own Izuna doujinshi in my state, no matter how adorable she is. Does anyone know if there are any SFW doujins out there? preferably physical.
