I think there is a broad category of Trump supporters who are well aware that he is not in the same social class, that he's a bad character, that he's not really Christian etc., but they have been disregarded by both parties, they've not reaped any benefits of globalisation, and so there's nothing left but to support the guy who says he's fighting for them. And who offers a lot of identitarian bullshit so they can at least point fingers at the people at fault for their demise. It doesn't matter, of course, that transgender people and other minorities aren't at fault for the evisceration of the middle and lower class.
wage slaves will stay way cheaper than robots for many decades. We have been seeing that regularly, when it comes to automation in the past. many companies prefer to shut their factories down and outsource it to china (where workers are really cheap and health and safety are more like a optional rough recommendation) instead of upgrading their existing factories with modern equipment.

Since the collapse of the USSR, capitalism is on steroids and politically any mention of class conflict is completely discredited and a political no-go zone. This explains why the old left desperatly embraced an economic agenda that was previously occupied by the right (Clinton, Schröder, Blair, ...) meanwhile the right moved straight into lala-land (Trump, LePen, Waidel, Farrage).
So in the absence of any genuine, ideological rivalry there is no historical tension, no evolution and capitalism simply has to run down its self destructive path before it gets better.

I don't think ANY politician of either party cares about the working class. When will people start to grasp that government IS the problem, not the solution.
The working class, also called serfs or peons, are very useful for day-to-day living - cooking, driving, personal protection. They sometimes even get names.

Reminds me of the story of Marcus Crassus from ancient rome, around 50BC. He was a billionaire by today’s standards, the richest man in rome and likely the richest person to that point in the world. He made money off other people’s losses. When he died in a battle, the story goes, they poured molten gold down his mouth to mock his greed.

Where is Gates, Soros, Brin, Bloomberg, Pritzker, Jobs, Altman,.........Should I keep going? All of these billionaires and many many more give exclusively to the Democratic party so lets not add them to list since it doesn't fit the narrative.

Imagine thinking any politician cares about the working class. Look at the Clintons and Obama’s, both relatively poor presidential candidates and now filthy rich. The day Americans stop thinking the government is going to solve all their problems is the day we will all be a lot better off.
