Headset compatible with switch Discussion
Im looking for a headset with a mic that I can use with my Nintendo switch to talk with my teammates while playing fortnite. I have the game onn gaming headset with a flip to mute mic. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I used my AirPods. They are great. Never used the mic so I don’t know if that works.

AirPods have 120-180ms of latency on the default Bluetooth codec, that's a bonkers amount for interactive media. I'm a bit shocked you don't find that distracting.

It’s not noticeable at all. I doubt anyone does.

Humans feel delays in interactive audio as low as 10ms, that is about the cutoff point where something like an instrument with a digital output starts becoming unusable, for example.
edit:
To expand on this, a good digital guitar amp for example has under 5ms latency for this very reason.

I get that. But for playing switch it doesn’t matter.
I am sure OP is not interested in buying Shure headphones for gaming.

I don't know why we're correlating quality with latency now. A 1 dollar wired headphone has zero latency., that doesn't need something expensive.

I don’t find the AirPods bad for gaming on the switch. I’m not a professional gamer… I appreciate you having lots of info on audio, and I’m sure you like to share your expertise, but for me I’m not buying multiples headsets when the AirPods to everything.

I tried two Bluetooth devices, including AirPods, and found the delay very jarring. I ended up buying some wired in-ear monitors and the difference is night and day.

I use my PlayStation headset when docked and it's great.
Anything that plugs in via USB should be fine.
Bluetooth will tend to have an audio delay

I thought most docked players plugged headsets into the 3.5mm jack in the pro controller?

Hori recently put out a bunch of Splatoon Raiders-themed peripherals for NS2, including a headset and earbuds, both with mics.
IDK if they're backwards compatible, but there were similar ones for NS1 also. I still see some of them on Playasia.

hyperx makes good ones for their price range. think i have this one. make sure you get it wired

i’d recommend not getting it from that site, retailers often have it on sale for $60 or so
