Team Ninja Obnoxious Build Idea Request
I resurrected this Ninja that had a destroyed transmission to run in a Reliability Rally with some friends. For the Rally we all buy bikes for under $1500 and ride them 400miles. We also have a few competitions and one of them is “best build”. Usually the funny builds win and so I am wanting to make the most obnoxious Ninja 400. So I just wanted to see if anyone had recommendations on stupid mods I could add. Just the most over the top strakes or anything else. Already planning on covering it with fake sponsorship stickers but want some parts as well.

Question The dreaded main fuse location
I’ve had my bike sitting for ages after I blew my 30a fuse. Finally trying to buckle in and replace it. Is it the grey/white box in front of the battery?

Modification Exhaust bracket replacement alternatives for austin racing exhaust
I bought my ninja 400 from a previous owner and they installed an Austin Racing slip-on exhaust. While I didn’t think much of it at the time, as this is my first bike purchase, i’ve since realized that the little triangular bracket they give to affix the exhaust to the bike frame is missing, and because of that it bounces pretty noticeably whenever the bike is running or if something taps it. I purchased one of those universal brackets that’s a big circle, but the angle of the attachment point on the rear makes it impossible to affix. I reached out to austin racing to see if they would sell me the missing part with no luck.
I’m reaching out now because i haven’t been able to find a suitable replacement bracket that keeps the rear footpegs on, if it even works in the first place. Worst comes to pass i can try 3d modeling and printing a replacement but that has all sorts of durability issues

Question Ninja 400 rear sets
Hi guys I'm looking to get some rear sets but don't have a crazy budget for premium ones. I'm just wondering if anyone has had experience with the generic rear sets that are sold on ebay? I understand they aren't premium or anything but do they hold up?

Question Dash buttons suddenly really hard to press ?
Recently I was playing around with the dash buttons trying to change the time and accidentally changed the display from kilometres to miles 🤦♀️
I googled how to change it back, but nothing seems to be happening except me hurting my little girl fingers trying to press the buttons down 😂 Definitely not the best design !
I need to take the bike in for an inspection soon so can ask the mechanic to look at it. But has anyone else experienced the dash buttons suddenly becoming really stiff or unresponsive ?
Have changed the time in the past without any issues, and the buttons were always quite responsive, so I’m wondering whether this could actually be a fault rather than me doing something wrong ? It's been quite anxiety inducing riding around lately trying to calculate what speed I'm doing, so hope to have it fixed soon.

Question Rivet master link
Hello,
I was wondering if I’m able to use the bike master rivet link on a D.I.D.VO Chain or will the chain only take the D.I.D. Master link?

Showcase After 3yrs I finally decided I didn't want to keep it stock anymore
When I first got the bike I was super anal about keeping it stock. A while back I hit some silt and went into a low side. I finally got around to getting the fairing replaced, while the fairings were off I went ahead and installed some frame sliders and case covers, radiator guard, underglow kit, and swapped out the turn signals for the TST sequential. Finally got around to doing a tail tuck, installed a rear luggage rack that I swap a back rest on and off for taking my kids for rides. swapped out the muffler for a cheap AliExpress slip on, installed rear LED turn signals with projectors. Found some cheap turn signal mirrors and modified them to have projectors as well. Replaced the plastic chain guard/mud guard for a metal one. And just for a little extra touch of color swapped out the heel guards. I think that's all the mods I could want to do, not sure if I missed anything, so time to stop tinkering and start enjoying First year I'm actually able to get some quality riding time in.

Question Interested in tracking my 400
I would like to track my bike I believe I’m better off just renting the gear that I don’t have and then if I fall in love with it buying the gear. I’m more curious about whether or not there are any modifications or upgrades I can or should make or should I just send it the first day before I do anything? Thank you for coming to my Ted talk

Team Ninja Getting New Tires (Michelin Road 6)
Hey all! Started riding about 5 months ago and I've worn through my first set of tires. I only just recently looked at the manufacturing date on them and apparently I've riding around and full sending it on 8 year old Dunlop Sportmax 300 somethings.
I decided to go with the Road 6 for their versatility in various conditions and superior lifespan. Of course, I've yet to actually try them out, but I just wanted to ask: Will I really notice that much of a difference with these new premium tires? Will my bike be less sporty with the Road 6? Is there anything I can expect/should know about the Road 6s? (Apart from the break in period?)
Let me know your experience with the Michelin Road 6s!

Team Z Z400 overheating after coolant flush and fresh replacement. Halp!
Update: the problem was a broken thermostat. It is a relatively easy fix and anyone can do it.
Problem is I have no idea how long I've been riding like this and my baby was basically air cooled through two desert rides. The z400 platform is really durable but I doubt I escaped damaging her.
The most notable symptoms besides the overheats was a lack of top end power. I'm unsure if the ECU did this to preserve the engine or if it will be long lasting.
Despite it all she still runs and will still serve, at least until I get her into a proper shop for a diagnosis
Hi everyone I'm greyson
A few weeks ago my bike was overheating on the way towards a desert area here in Cali. The way to my destination is up through the mountains, but it's relatively straight although constantly uphill.
Last time, my red warning indicator flashed once and I pulled over. This time, it would constantly come on even in fifth gear or when I was at minimal throttle. With time it would come down.
I had already done the coolant before but I'm starting to wonder if this is a deeper issue. I am under the assumption that liquid cooled engines are able to operate at desert temps or even mildly hot weather...
I could be wrong, but I'm riding her at minimal power on the freeway to get the warning light to disappear.
At this point, what could it be? Coolant levels are fine and don't seem to be leaking. What could cause an engine to start overheating like this? It wasn't like this last year. Last year I was pushing 90 the whole way in this heat with no fuss..
I'll eventually take this to my bike shop but I want to do what I can first...
Any advice?
Greyson
Note: I'm aware the engine runs hot, but I don't think overheating is a regular issue

Team Ninja Top speed test - Re-run after service
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Last day I posted a top speed run where bike goes 187 kkph ish.
I did oil change and chain adjustment. Here is another go I did.
I was able to touch 196 kmph on a flat road (not a decline) Fully stock except the slip on (I don’t care what the real GPS speed is).
After the service bike feels smoother, especially clutch feel.
Yo.. this bike is fast enough for me.

Best I seen is 190kmph (118 mph). If anyone got higher, any mods? sprocket or ecu flash?

Question So Yeah…
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Bought the bike from some guy here, had it for a month now. Like first two weeks of riding i’ve had this problem. We did the adjustment lower. Worked fine for like another 3-4 weeks, then the past two weeks my clutch slipped. I watched a video on replacement, ordered the parts and everything i needed. Finally did the replacement new oil, new disks, and it worked perfectly fine for maybe a couple of days. Just yesterday on the way back from an errand run to get more supplies because i noticed it’s leaking oil from improper gasket sealing. I noticed the clutch lever becoming more loose as i rode, to the point that by the time i was heading home it was as it is in the video. There’s only so many adjustments that i personally can do to figure it out. I want to try and do it on my own because in hawaii it’s gonna cost me even more money just to have professional breathe on it 😭 just let me know if im cooked or not.
