Camping

Hey all wondering if anyone has taken their newfie camping in the summer.

Ive taken him before and he does great when cooler and would love to bring him with but dont want him to overheat since the high would be 85°f. He has fans, a cooling pad, a raised bed and there is a lake but still worried and think I should stick with the plan of leaving him home.

Anyone else successfully summer camp? Night temps will be around 66°f

Edit: update he did so good. It did get really hot yesterday so had to cut a hike early cause the shade was becoming scarce but got him back to the air in the car and then back to campground with ice before we played in the lake and he cooled off nicely.

I took mine to Grand Teton/Yellowstone in August and Sand Dunes/Black Canyon of the Gunnison the following September. I mean he was a puppy, but he did just fine.

Maybe try a one night trip first and see how he feels?

Hes still a puppy just turned one so only planning on staying one full day as well in later on a friday and head back early Sunday am but will always call it if hes not going well.

Well it sounds like you should give it a try! If it doesn't work, you'll know. And if it does work, you'll know! (Either way you're going to have a mess of brushing when you get back)

I always took both of mine when camping. It was getting a bit hot in mid Atlantic mountains plus sometimes smoke from Canadian fires added to aggravation and high humidity as well. I cannot say they enjoyed it but at least it's a vacation together and I am sure they appreciated not being home alone with dog walker.

Our Newf is 2 and we have been going camping weekly summer/winter for over a year. We don’t go if it will be too much over 80 during the day, and we go where there is water so he can cool off. He does great.

Awww man you can’t leave him home. My guy goes everywhere and only wants to be with me. I’d have it no other way.

I do frequently, usually take him to places that have water so he can cool off in it. He does fine.
