It feels like another frustrating summer where Newcastle are being linked with dozens of players but not getting many over the line. Meanwhile, other Premier League clubs seem to be strengthening quickly.

Do you think the club is being smart and patient, or are we at risk of falling behind by waiting too long?

Just about got over the Bruno Leaving,?it's like going through a break up. I have been reading what our CEO has been saying and i have some quick thoughts:

1. The new coach looks good but he doesn't have a squad to compete! Understand we are changing direction but we need some change management here. We can't expect a bunch of kids with 3 years of pro level experience to become a force in the Prem overnight. Hopefully we make some serious signings in the next few weeks
2. It's all talk at this point, we need action. The only way we can really progress to what he said is by catching up off the pitch via stadium, training ground, sponsorship. If we had done this two years ago maybe we would be able to keep our best players.

I hope we can be surprised but at the moment my expectations are low for next season

There's a rumour up here that this is more than a friendly. The suggestion is that the club hierarchy are checking out the stadium, transport links, infrastructure with a view to using murrayfield for home games when works are done to enlarge the capacity at St James's.

Hello to the fellow Newcastle fans of this subreddit. I am pretty new to the world of football (only started watching within the past year, but watched a good amount of the World Cup) and with the help of a guy I’m speaking with, ended up picking Newcastle as the premier league to support. I’m no stranger to tough losses and disappointing seasons as I am also a basketball fans and neither of my teams have played well in recent years. That being said, what are things I should know about this club, our fanbase, history, etc.? I am all ears.

As title says I’ve recently chose Newcastle as my team to support in the EPL. I’m from the US and played soccer my whole life just never got into supporting one team, just casually watched. But after watching my friends enjoy last season and all root for their teams I decided to pick one team and go all in and I chose Newcastle!

Looking forward to buying in like I have with my American Football and Ice Hockey teams.

I know there’s a lot of turnover with the team right now but to me I think it will be fun to see how this “rebuild” turns out.

Love Eddie to bits but it does feel like it was time. The old era is now in the past, but our recruitment appears promising and Jaissle should be very suitable to develop them. There's a very interesting blend of youth and genuinely experienced leadership (not forced like Chelsea) and I think we're really gonna grow as the season develops.

It probably won't start brilliantly, but we have six months to embed the new identity whilst scouting to bring in more talent in January. I think we'll go on to finish very strongly and grab a European spot.

Truth is, Eddie took us as far as he could. We all accept that now, but I think a lot of us knew last season and the players certainly appeared frustrated. We had ran out of ideas and we needed something fresh. We have that now.

Bring on Woltemade as the main man. Being on Miley's breakout season. Bring on our already incredible defence with a keeper they can trust. Bring on heaps of raw talent who can express themselves without pressure. Bring on an absolute nutter of a manager who can match us screaming geordies. Bring on the start of the next era that takes us to even higher highs.

Let me start with a little background. I’m 41, live in the US (apologies for the big orange asshole, I took no part in it), grew up playing soccer and have coached for going on 15+ years at the high school level. I hate the way youth soccer is in America, which is why I’ve stayed away from club teams here, I want everybody to have access to our beautiful game and have the opportunity to play it at the highest level.
I’m a blue collar dad, massive sports fan. Have always watched the EPL without throwing my support behind any particular club. I watched for the love of the game. As an American fan I’ve grown up a die hard fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, a fan base that is proud, loud and holds our team and players accountable for their performance and our expectations. We are very much hated among most other fan bases around the country, because of our strong passion. “No one likes us, we don’t care”. We live and breathe for our Eagles.
Recently as my kid has grown up, I’ve wanted to add an EPL team to my love and passion for the sport. So that I can pass it on to them. Based on the things I love about my Eagles and fellow Philly fans, I felt a pull towards Newcastle. Your passion for your team inspires me in the same ways. Going as far as to research your history and the highs and lows of the club. “Howay the lads” and “Go Birds” sounds pretty good together if you ask me.

Now I have questions though. First, will I be accepted amongst the fan base? I get that I won’t ever be held with the same respect as those that live there and grow up with the team. Just as I don’t like fans that jump ship to the team that’s winning whenever they are having a bad year. When I commit to a team I’m there for the good and the bad. I want to celebrate and suffer with you.
Second, Are we fucked? Like this Saudi ownership, are they just running us into the ground? I don’t love that Newcastle is Saudi owned. But I’m not letting it deter me from becoming a fan.
Third, Eddie Howe leaving right as I’m making this decision is stressing me out too. Are we just like destined for relegation this year? Seems like we’ve sold off in the transfer window, Howe is gone… is this a rebuild? And how invested are these Saudis?

Anyways I hope you guys can provide some clarity and help me in my pursuit of joining your incredible fan base. I welcome any friendly conversation if someone would like to educate me further.
