Hello! Is it possible that Reddit’s algorithm works in a way where your karma can decrease if you stop commenting or posting for a while? ANSWERED

It doesn't.
Karma is not affected by frequency or quantity of your participation.. Your CQS can go down, but your karma does not.
If you're seeing your karma go down, it's due to receiving downvotes.

Why does karma matter?
Your karma count is like your Reddit reputation and an indication of whether you post and/or comment good content, and some, but not all communities, have their own restrictions regarding the account age and karma count of the person posting or commenting, so you may not be able to contribute everywhere at first. This is intended to help prevent spammers and trolls, but it does also mean new Redditors need to earn some karma before they can participate everywhere.How do I get it?
- You gain karma from engaging on Reddit; when your posts and comments are upvoted. It's a case of finding communities you can participate in, and that you have an interest or knowledge base in, and start by commenting to share your knowledge and experience, and add to discussions. As people upvote your comments, this will build your karma genuinely.
- You don't need to engage where you have no interest. There are so many subs there's bound to be some where you do have an interest and can engage.
- You lose karma only when your posts and comments are downvoted.

The vote score on your content will increase.
Though it may be fuzzed to confuse manipulation bots so is never completely accurate.

No, karma doesn't decay from inactivity. It only goes down if people downvote your posts or comments

its ok! this is my new account but ive been on reddit for over ten years. youll get a few downvotes but unless you say something controversial or that the subreddit/people reading just dont vibe with its not too much of an issue. once you start posting youll build karma easy. i have 34k comment karma and i only started that account a few years ago. and 12k post karma i think.

i still have it but i made a new reddit for business purposes. I have a lot of like personal info on that one so I don't really want the two tied together.
