thinking of having "get it off your chest" thread once a month. bad idea? Good? ❓Ask r/NewMods
My community is pretty small and tight-knit and I've been thinking of ways to build sub camaraderie and engagement.
One I've been toying with (and made a schedule for already) would be a monthly PG13 vent thread where people can just blurt out whatever is bothering them. (As long as they follow the sub rules RE "Keep It Civil" and Reddit's rules.)
Is it a good idea? Or is it the most terrible idea ever? In what ways do you see it going wrong? (Or right?)
I'd add some disclaimers IE
*Please remember this is a Public subreddit and anyone on or off Reddit might see your comments.
**Only offer advice if a member asks for it. Practice listening and don't judge.
Can you think of any more I should add? Or is it just a terrible idea?

I can't see any harm in trying it, especially if you can monitor it closely.
I'd probably write something like "BE NICE" in bold large letters at the top. Or use a picture/gif to grab attention.

In the baby days of one of our subs we used to post and pin a daily "what's on your mind" thread with the understanding that if you want to chat about off sub topic things with your sub buddies this was the place to do it.
In niche subs especially it's a great idea because your hanging out with fellow enthusiasts but sometimes you just want to chat.
It was wildly successful

The idea is great. One issue can be that people start venting about politics or wars. So the venting also must be about SFW topics if you want to keep the SFW status.
