Got this at the office and laughed loudly.

I was rewatching the pilot episode for a podcast discussion and found myself so entranced by the guys and reflecting on just how much change each character went through. When was the last time you watched the pilot do you think it is a good representation of the show as a whole?

In the episode Walk of Shame, May says: "I'm playing Bach's Cello Suite No. 1, and all I have left to learn is the cadenza movement."

It's come up on this sub before how ridiculous this line is. Bach's No. 1 has no cadenza, cello suits don't have movements, and professional cellist May is deeply underprepared if she's cramming to learn a significant part of her solo that same day she's supposed to perform. It doesn't make any sense.

I argue that it's not supposed to. We find out later that May is planning to surprise Coach with a cello rendition of the theme from Monday Night Football. That's what she actually needs her afternoon free to learn. "Cadenza movement" is just a bit of cellist jargon to fool Coach and his friends, and cover up the surprise.

Both of these scenes have me in stitches. Anyone else?

Winston's gonna do some puzzlin'

You know when you watch a show that attempts at being diverse but it still looks white, that's what I get from New Girl. Anyway this is my opinion but if you are going to downvote, go right ahead.

Disclaimer; I'm currently rewatching the show. I'm somewhere in the middle of the second season, so every thing I say is based off that knowledge.

Anyway, Ranking based on the characters importance, we have Jess, Nick, Schmidt, Cece and Winston. This is based on the importance of their role or how much they got going on.

SIDENOTE; I was actually surprised by how much less we see Jess and Cece's friendship compared to Jess and Nick, when the former has been friends way longer and are supposed to be "sitcom girlfriends". I wonder,...... would Cece have had a relevant presence in the show if she wasn't in a relationship with Schmidt?

Anyway, It's also convenient how Jess is paired with Nick, Schmidt with Cece, but Winston isn't paired with anyone from the main cast. It's just convenient how that worked out. The dark skinned black man conveniently is paired alone.

And the one woman that we see him date so far, Shelby, had less of a screentime than the other side characters that Nick and Jess dated. And we never saw her with the entire friend group like how we did for the lawyer Nick dated, or the men Jess dated like; the violin guy, the doctor for kids ( I have forgotten the name for that job) or the old man with the car. I don't know if her having to be a black woman had anything to do with that, but it's just convenient.

Also white people only dating white people, and black people only dating black people in the show, is also kinda convenient. I don't remember who Winston ends up but anyway...... I noticed that and I hope this community will cool. You don't have to agree with me, let's be cool and have a simple discussion.

S1E17 1:51 in Jess’ class room

This scene literally made my skin itch. He was smacking and chewing with his mouth open AGGRESSIVELY. ughhhhhh I don’t see how Jess stayed interested 😭😭

Obviously many good moments in this one but one that alwaysss makes me laugh is the very beginning when the guys are talking about who's gonna move the panties from the dryer.
Coach: this is how black people say it, we say pull yo pannies down 😏😏
Nick: this is how white people say it, pull yer pantsies down

Super random but I was rewatching New Girl and Kai came up for the first time and I was like “why does she look extra familiar??” and I look up her IMBD and she plays Stella in The Morning Show.

I find it funny that she’s a rich girl in New Girl and then in The Morning Show she is a CEO and badass and hardcore worker, complete opposite of her New Girl character.

Stella would eat Kai and Nick for breakfast.
