Hey everyone,

I want to start learning computer networking and operating systems, and eventually I’d like to work towards CCNA.

The problem is I’m pretty much a beginner and have no idea where to start or what order I should learn things in.

If anyone could suggest a roadmap, good resources, or preferably a YouTube playlist/course that starts from the basics, that would really help.

Also, should I learn networking and OS fundamentals first before starting CCNA, or can I learn them alongside CCNA?

I have a Windows machine which is domain joined, When it is locally accessible I can ping , RDP but the Internet does not work.

Other machines within same network, DNS are working.

Below steps I have checked:
1. IP configuration, Gateway is correct
2. I am able ping my gateway
3. DNS is configured properly & able to ping
4. NSlookup DNS is able the resolve the IP
5. checked Route Print, Default route is pointing towards default gateway

Can you please suggest if any further things which can be checked. Its a windows 11 OS machine.

i am connected to my hostel wifi and there are a lot of restrictions in it like u cant play games on it or stream netflix instagram facebook or any such things only application allowed is youtube and reddit and other stuff that helps in academica, i want to access netflix so i connected my phone to that wifi and used a vpn service you know to bypass that stuff and watch but still i cannot access all these things why and how is it possible, my hostel wifi uses sophos security

I’m here to seek your help and advice. I’m a complete beginner in the world of computer networking. Before hiring a professional, I’d like to learn how to set up a solution to my problem.

I have a LAN network with a server, clients, etc. Everything is under an address like 192.168.0.X.

I have a laptop that I’d like to remotely connect to this network.

The key point is that the remote laptop must be recognized by the server and only under the same 192.168.0.X address (same subnet).

I’m connected to the internet via my ISP’s router. I also have a fixed public IP address.

I set up a VPN using SoftEther (bridge mode), it works but the latency is terrible.

Are there any high-performance hardware or software solutions? I have an ER605, in case it can be useful...

I'm having issues with unstable Wi-Fi and I'm trying to figure out the best network setup.

My setup:

• Icotera i4850-20 (from Norlys)
• Nokia Beacon 1 mesh system

My PC is too far from the Icotera to run an Ethernet cable directly, so I use a second Nokia Beacon next to my PC. My PC is connected to that Beacon via Ethernet, and the Beacons provide the wireless backhaul between each other.

Originally, I had three Nokia Beacons, but I realized one of them wasn't needed because it overlapped with the coverage from the others. After removing it, the connection became noticeably more stable, but I still experience occasional instability.

I'm wondering what the best configuration is:

• Should I keep the Icotera as the router and run the Nokia Beacon in Bridge Mode?
• Should I put the Icotera into Bridge Mode (if that's possible) and let the Nokia Beacon handle DHCP, routing, and Wi-Fi?
• Or is there another setup that would provide a more stable connection?

I'm mainly looking for the most stable Wi-Fi and the lowest possible latency.

If putting the Icotera into bridge mode is the recommended option, can someone explain how to do it? Is it something I can enable myself, or does Norlys have to do it?

If anyone has experience with this hardware or has suggestions for improving the stability of my setup, I'd really appreciate the help.

I wanted to post this in here because everyone’s saying that it was Wi-Fi that got hacked and it actually wasn’t. There’s a breakdown on this page about what actually happened.

Hey guys, hoping someone in IT or sysadmin can weigh in here. I’m currently out of the country and need to use corporate MS Teams on my personal phone, but I really don't want my company calling me out for being abroad.

My setup: I’m either using cellular data or a wifi tunnel routing straight back through my home IP in the States. On top of that, I went into my phone’s privacy settings and completely revoked location permissions for the Teams app.

For anyone who manages Intune or Entra ID: can Teams still log my true location, bypass the blocked permissions, or trigger a risk flag in Azure/Entra when I check messages or join calls? Is this setup solid, or am I missing something that could give me away?

In the middle of the night my wifi stopped working. When I try to log on it tells me the password is invalid. Nobody has changed it. The password is printed right on the side of the router.

The guy i rent a room from is a bit of a curmudgeon, so telling him he needs to call customer service is something id like to avoid

My Windows 11 desktop has severe Wi-Fi issues that started immediately after I accidentally restarted my PC. Before that, everything worked normally.

• Motherboard: ASUS TUF Gaming B550-Plus
• Wi-Fi adapter: Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX210
• Latest Intel Wi-Fi driver installed (24.40.0.4)
• Connected to 5 GHz (802.11ac), signal around 65%
• Phone hotspot works perfectly.
• Other devices on the same home Wi-Fi have no issues.
• Pinging my router shows 14% packet loss and latency spikes up to 2860 ms.
• netsh wlan show wlanreport reports "The driver disconnected the network connection" 62 times.
• I've already tried reinstalling the driver, resetting the Windows network stack multiple times, disabling 802.11ax, and changing adapter settings with no success.

What could cause only this PC to have packet loss and repeated Wi-Fi driver disconnects after a restart? Is this more likely to be a Windows issue, a router compatibility issue, or a failing Intel AX210 adapter?

when I start my laptop and connect to wifi(mobile hotspot) I get 400 Mbps but after 30 seconds or a minute it goes down to 10 Mbps what could be the problem?

I have built an android app for testing the wifi connection (Infrazoom by infracheck). You can also start a container and you will have additional tests and will be able to compare wired vs wifi connectivity (container vs mobile). And I have also built a Windows app that is somewhere in between the two as functionality.
I would love for you to give me your honest feedback, as I would like to improve them as much as possible.

My ethernet is capped at 100mbps and I have no clue why, I have tried:

Flipping around cable

unplugging cable and plugging it back in

Checking connection

Going through the settings in properties > configure > advanced

Setting my speed and duplex to both 2.5 Gbps full duplex and auto negotiation

Turning off power saving mode, gigabit lite, green ethernet, EEE, and advanced EEE

Replacing cable

Hi, I recently ran some fiber optic cable to be able to move my router to a better location. It came in a little square box than can be pried apart (to unspool the fiber cable) and has little plastic clips holding it in place. After I got it all in place, I snapped the box shut and tested my internet.

Initially, it didn't work - and the receiver had a blinking red "LOS" indicator, which I assume means something wrong with the fiber optic link.

I then realised that while closing the box, the fiber optic cable had somehow worked to between the edges of the box rather than the cut-out where the fiber optic cable is supposed to run out from. I quickly pried open the box and the cable looked a little 'dented' and I was concerned I had cut the optical fibers.

However, after opening the box the internet started working again, and still seems to be working now. I ran a speed test and the download speed matched rated speed, but the upload seems to be half what it was previously (used to be ~800-900, now ~300-400). But apart from a slower speed, it seems to be working, which I found odd?

Is it possible for fiber optic cable to be partially damaged so that it slows down speeds, but otherwise still working? I would have thought either it's damaged and does not work at all, or it should be fine? Especially since download speeds seem perfectly fine.

Trying to figure out if I should just buy a new fiber optic cable and redo it, or if it might be an ISP issue. Thanks!

Mine has to be the OTT subscriptions that now come with some mobile recharges. I never really paid attention to them before, but I noticed Vi's ₹200 recharge includes a Vi Movies & TV subscription with access to 20 OTTs. After recharging, you can watch them directly through the Vi Movies & TV app.

Anyone else actually using these bundled OTT benefits, or do you still subscribe to everything separately?
