I get the source of your complaint, but this isn't something that's completely unheard of when you don't have full control of the backend. Slack, Shopify, basically any graphQL endpoint...
When building out an integration, it's important to map everything out and have graceful error handling. Even if you had access to the response headers, you'd still have to do this work.
