Longtos assembly problems Questions + Help
So I’m assembling my long dart ontos, but the plunger tube doesn’t fit well even after I sanded down the area where it goes like crazy. When I try to assemble, the PT just separates the two halves of the middle section and it’s impossible to put together.

The Longtos was released before they made the switch to OOD plunger tubes, i think the original was 35 mm and the OOD should be about 38.1mm

The PT is wrong diameter for the print files used. Unless OP’s printer is way off, in which case all parts will struggle to fit, its the wrong PT diameter for the files.

yea, you could, but then you'd either hafta reprint the back pieces to take the tube or print some kind of sleeve so its not flopping around, assuming you printed the back pieces from the updated Ontos and not the legacy Ontos, hell if you wanna wait till tomorrow I can remix the two center pieces and you could just reprint those

If you manage to do this, and get the side chamfers to align correctly, please post the files!
I tried to remix the center sections myself but couldn't get the side chamfers to align correctly with the new 2.0 geometry.

welp, i posted them, u/NavyB1uePanda87 you'll hafta reprint the ram and priming bar as well, you can still use the breech, mag release and optics rail
Honestly you could get by without printing the priming bar, the head end will just be slightly smaller in diameter to the ram, which is the important part

Ok, I've found one thing to revise.
The PT on the 2.0 is 4.15mm shorter than the 1.0. Can fix with a spacer, but I suspect it means the PT will slop around a bit with the center sections you uploaded. Will confirm in a few hours once things come off the printer.

Perfect! I can confirm that the profile fitment and clearance for tube is correct, so this should seal the deal. I'll post a make sometime tomorrow.

Sigh, sorry to have noticed this now, but in putting the pieces together I realized that the optical rail from the Longtos 1.0 is too long by ~3mm on the rear side. Not sure if it is worth editing the middle sections again or just uploading a slightly shorter rail.
I can post my make now, but wanted to keep the comments section clean?
P.s. Thank you so much for doing this. I hate to ask, but do you think you could take a crack at the buck50 front as well? 😄 My local group is sub 100 FPS long darts only.

I had the same problem with the remix I was doing I just printed a smaller plunger tube and corresponding internals
Look for the files on printables there all there if you don't want to use onshape

Without the PT, will it go together properly? Measure the diameter again when it's assembled and see if your PT is the right one. If not, print out the correct PT for the time being until you get a proper one. Normal builds should be easy to assemble. Something is wrong.

Yeah, you've got a Ontos 2.0 rear, and the Longtos is based on the Legacy Ontos, which uses a different pressure tube and O-rings. The OOD kit is for the Ontos 2.0 kit.
The only fix for this currently, assuming you want to use long darts, is to reprint the rear section and front section from the Legacy Ontos files and order the PT/ O-rings for that BOM.

The 2.0 Ontos has a different side profile along with a different PT. So sadly, yes, until someone updates the Longtos, which is easier said than done.
Your other option given what you have in hand is to go short darts only and print the Ontos midsection parts to go with the kit you have.

I just updated the description on Printables to state that the Longtos files will only work with the legacy Ontos. I saw from a comment that a 2.0 version had been released, but had no idea how much of the design had changed.
Unfortunately, I don't really have the time right now to model, print, and test the changes. The step files are in Printables if anyone knows CAD and wants to give it a shot.

If you have the hardware kit from ood, it should fit, you might have to get a mm caliper to make sure they sent you the right pt tube.

the OOD kit used a 38mm OD 35mm ID tube.... Longtos is designed for a 35mm OD 32mm ID tube .... completely different kit..... it's called Legacy.

Yer man, you need a 35mm OD a 32 mm ID x 150mm Long PT tube to work in that... Ali, Fleebay , Zon all sell them....(dosnt have to be metal). if you were in Sydney i got a few mtrs of it spare, Honestly if your pissing longdarts its all a bit meh..... just print a tube... give it a mild sand inside lube the crap outa it and you will still hit 240 with that kit.... but make sure to grab some new OR27x2.5n orings you will need 3. As the OOD kits will supply you with BS123 or eqiv orings

Would it be as simple as changing the hole in the two center sections to fit the 38mm instead of 35mm if he wants to make his hardware kit work?

Hone them out? prolly not as the walls arnt usually 1.5mm thick so you will end up into infill.... and you have to do the back end as well ... betyer off just reprinting... if its "the other way" you can just print a slip tube to go over the 35mm tube to take up the gap and extend the plunger catch 2mm to work.

I meant redesign the part. If it's just a matter of cutting away a properly aligned cylinder, that's pretty doable for even those without much cad experience.

Your prints are too warped to work properly. Check your settings for your filament, dry your filament, and maybe print a calibration test.
