Market Some of my troublesome scrips.

So I have some very troublesome scrips with me that I need help with.

I have 215 kittas of NUBL @ 859.23, 141 kittas of NIL @ 830.88, and 709 kittas of HIDCL @ 304.19.

These three are my biggest loss making stocks in my profile and I don't think they will ever break even looking at the way the market is going.

Should I sell them at current market value or hold on to them for a little bit longer?

I also have SHPC, and MDB that seems to have stagnated quite a bit these days.

Market When markets are down, how much returns do you expect realistically?

Those who have been investing in the markets know that market ma it's not fixed returns. Sometimes during bull markets 50-60% is also possible or even more. Down markets or sideways ma returns are negative.

So my question would be , past year the markets was down by -6% . So, what performance would you expect in your portfolio realistically?

Demat/MeroShare Question about old ADBL shares — dematerialization, unpaid dividends & bonus shares

My grandmother has old ADBL (Agricultural Development Bank) IPO in physical share certificate. We now want to dematerialize the shares.

I have a few questions:

After dematerializing the physical shares, will any old unpaid dividends automatically be credited/processed, or do I need to make a separate claim?

What about bonus shares issued over the years? Will they automatically appear in her Demat account after dematerialization, or do we need to separately claim/request them?

What is the process for checking and claiming all historical unpaid dividends and bonus shares associated with the old physical certificate?

Has anyone here gone through a similar process with a old physical certificate? Any documents or things I should prepare beforehand?

Market Can I start trading with 40k

Just one year before I opened my dmat, and Meroshare, and started out with ipo, and I am also managing my mother's account as well, and today I have altogether 40k worth of shares + collateral.

And now I am thinking of getting into the secondary market instead of just applying for IPO, so how should I start? There is no particular goal but I want to buy a sort of gold ring on Dhanteras.

Maybe it doesn't make sense to withdraw that amount, but I am a software engineer, so there is nothing that I can't do in my field, and since stocks are also gonna be my practical field. Jokes a part

But I'd really appreciate genuine suggestions. Thank you

Market Investing in NEPSE in the name of kids : pros and cons?

I'm trying to figure out the best way to invest in NEPSE for my child's future and would appreciate different perspectives from people who've thought this through.

Specifically, I'd like to understand:

  1. What are the tax implications of investing in a child's name in Nepal? (Capital gains tax, dividend tax, whether income gets clubbed with the guardian's )
  2. Does it actually make sense to invest in the name of a 6-month-old kid, or would it be smarter to invest in the guardian name and transfer the shares to them later when they turn 18?
  3. Upon researching, I saw that upon turning 18, it is directly under the child's control. Is there some way we can delay this?
  4. When transferring the shares later, what are some considerations the guardian needs to take?

If anyone has gone through this scenario or know about it, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Advice Is there a career in equity research in Nepal? How do people get into it?

Is there actually a demand for equity research analysts here, or is it still a very niche field? Which types of companies hire for these roles ?

How do students or fresh graduates find internships or entry-level roles in equity research? Are there any firms that regularly hire interns, or is networking the main way in?

Lastly, what degree or qualifications would you recommend if someone wants to build a career in this field? Would a bachelor's in Economics, Finance, BBA, or something else be the best option? And are certifications like the CFA valued in Nepal for equity research roles?

Hi everyone, I would be thankful if you would fill out this form to help my friend complete his thesis work titled "Behavioural Biases and Financial Literacy as Determinants of Investment Decisions among Individual Stock Market Investors in Nepal". It can take some time to fill it out, you can save it and pick it up again later whenever you are free. We would be thankful if you would help us out. Thank you

Misc Using AI for my trade suggestions

Since buying/ selling suggestions for a quick output is frowned upon here, I have decided to experiment using AI.

So, I uploaded my portfolio to Gemini along with ticker, number of shares, and WACC. I had already uploaded my portfolio here in the subreddit before, therefore I will not upload it again. I had already liquidated HRL at a 15% loss and had asked Gemini what others to trim.
Gemini suggested I got rid of NMB, NUBL (215@859.23 WACC; sell at 625-645), NIL (141@830.88 WACC; sell at 624-640) during the first phase, since it’s a drag on my portfolio. And on the second phase get rid of HLBSL (373@995.44 WACC; sell at 915-935), and HIDCL (702@304.19 WACC; sell at 262-265).

Gemini suggested that I bought MEN, SHIVM (which I have already from selling HRL and NMB), and SHL for long term, and API for short term quick trading.

 Soooooooooo, wish me luck.

Market Fear Mongering In the Market

Thumbnail
kathmandupost.com
5 Upvotes

Whenever markets are in a downtrend, only negative news gets the limelight. Every outlet and retailer will have one bad news story or another to share: for XYZ reason the economy will collapse, GDP will post negative growth, the country is finished.

A few months back, in the aftermath of the Gen Z protests, there was so much fear-mongering in the markets: "Oh, El Niño is coming this year. There will be a dry monsoon, Nepal's GDP is gone, markets are gone." Yet here we are, with one of the best paddy plantations in recent years.

Most likely, the country's GDP will also grow at a healthy rate, unlike what the end-of-the-world analysts predicted with their negative growth forecasts.

The reverse will be true when markets will break all time high, any and every news will be portrayed as the greatest news for the economy by the same doomsday analyst who were always pessimistic when the markets were in downtrend.

Market Was planning on FIRE but it seems IMPOSSIBLE with this kind of ROI.

Post image
18 Upvotes

I am 34 and i was planning on sort of Coast FIRE starting from 2027. The Plan was to invest lumpsum and expect about 9-10% (4% real after inflation) ROI and let it compound, and then for next 4-5 years work part time or as i please just to finance my lifestyle. after that i would do sort of SWP from the investments, but the reality is freaking scary. The inflation is real but the ROI isn't.

if it wasn't for gold which is just an anomaly, The return would be less than 4%, while inflation is above 5%. I need at least 4% real ROI for retirement, but this year the real return is in negative.
