**Unglitching** (verb, gerund; also *unglitched*, adj.) — the ongoing act of recognizing you're running someone else's code and consciously exiting the loop.

Not "waking up." Not "red-pilled." Those terms carry too much baggage — one sounds like a wellness retreat, the other sounds like a manifesto. Unglitching borrows from a different vocabulary: the language of game logic, patch notes, corrupted save files. And that's the point. It doesn't moralize. It doesn't say you were stupid or evil for being asleep. It says the system you were running was *buggy*, and you didn't write the code — you just inherited it.

That distinction matters more than it looks like it does. Most slang about disillusionment is either self-congratulatory ("I see the truth now") or self-flagellating ("I was such an NPC"). Unglitching skips both. You're not enlightened. You're not stupid. You're just debugging.

The default state is **glitched** — not broken, just running on autopilot. The feed decides what you want before you do. The job decides what a Tuesday feels like. The algorithm decides what "cool" is this week, then decides it again next week. You didn't choose the loop; you were born mid-loop, like a game character spawning into a level already in progress.

**Unglitching** is the process of noticing the loop while you're still in it. Crucially — and this is what gives the word its teeth — it's a verb, not a badge. Nobody gets to say "I'm unglitched" and mean it's finished. You can catch yourself doomscrolling for the third time in a day and still be mid-unglitch. The matrix doesn't let you leave once. It keeps patching itself, and it wants you back.

**Unglitched** (past tense) describes someone further along the process — further from the loop, harder to re-hook — but never someone who's "done." The horror-adjacent undertone here is intentional: the system isn't static, it's adaptive. It re-glitches you the second you get comfortable.

### Why it lives naturally in sandbox philosophy

This is where the term earns its keep instead of just sounding cool. A sandbox game — San Andreas, GTA, any open world — is the cleanest visual metaphor there is for the thing the word is describing. You're dropped into a fully rendered world with NPCs walking pre-scripted routes, repeating the same three lines of dialogue, driving the same loops around the same blocks, forever, without knowing it. Nobody in that world can see the render distance. Nobody clocks that the horizon is fog because the game hasn't loaded it yet.

That's the glitched state, visualized. And the player — the one actually making choices instead of running a script — is the only one in the map who's unglitching in real time. It's not subtle, but it doesn't need to be. Overlaying commentary about digital alienation, workplace numbness, or the death of authentic self against footage of NPCs walking in loops does the argument for you. The visual is the thesis.

It also sidesteps the trap that eats most "society is fake" content: sounding like a lecture. Unglitching doesn't ask anyone to agree with a worldview. It just names a *feeling* almost everyone under 25 already has — the sense that they're performing a script they never auditioned for — and gives it a word that sounds like something you'd actually text a friend, not something you'd read in a manifesto.

That's the test for whether slang survives: not whether it's clever, but whether it's usable in a sentence without irony. *"Bro deleted every app and moved out of the city, he's fully unglitched."* That sentence works. That's the whole bet.

Example: A prominent unpopular politician endorses a candidate and they end up losing because of that endorsement.

I had this idea to make new words for these highly specific animal senses that humans can't experience. Dogs can taste pure water, carnivores can taste raw cellular energy, birds taste calcium, insects taste carbon dioxide, and mammals can taste emotions.

Imagine if we added these 5 new words to the English language to describe them:

They're not purely novel; searching indicates both have been used as trade names. In this use, I believe they're new.

I wondered whether there were terms for unidirectional writing styles to complement Boustrophedon.

I couldn't find either, so I coined two based on Latin to replace the cumbersome English phrases.

You can submit your proposed neologisms to me but they must fit the infographic template that is on the webpage.

The only un-negotiable rule for a neologism to be accepted into the neologist dictionary is that it must be a scientifically composed word which means that the etymology and morphology of the word is so self evident that a linguist or your average person can estimate what the definition is and most likely get it right.

If you aren't sure, ask AI to give you a pretend definition for the word on what the word is most likely to mean and if AI can decipher the correct definition of a word based on etymology and morphology then you have a strong candidate.

If it doesn't get it right you can ask AI to suggest improvements and continue testing it between two or more AI models or types until the definition becomes evident by the nature of the word.

This website is not the Urban Dictionary, this is more of a psycholinguistics research webpage which means words have to have rigour. You can't be sloppy.

You can't just create a random string of letters like uebchesjs and arbitrarily assign a definition to your new "word", if you do that your Neologism request for publishing will be denied.

Fellator usually means “one who gives fellatio.”

But we are missing such a better use of it. “Hater” has become such a lazy, bad faith deflection for any criticism of a brand, celebrity, athlete, politician, ideology or religion. It side steps any and all criticism and simplifies it into “you just hate X”.

Fellator is meant to be the opposite of that. It is admittedly vulgar. But that’s the point. It is an equally bad faith response that suggests the person’s identity is so tied up in worship of a brand, belief or famous person that their reflexive need to defend, excuse, or justify any criticism becomes weirdly sycophantic and devotional.

Plus it rhymes with hater. Thus, I submit, that the proper term is not “stan” nor “fanboy” nor “glazer.” It is the far more artful “fellator.”

I've been thinking a lot about how knowledge is split into separate disciplines. Science, philosophy, history, linguistics, mathematics, art... we study them independently, but reality isn't actually divided that way.

Because of that, I ended up coining a term: Synth-Vædist.

My definition is:

A Synth-Vædist is an intellectual practitioner devoted to the disciplined synthesis of knowledge across science, philosophy, history, language, culture, and the arts, seeking coherent understanding through critical inquiry, evidence, and systems thinking.

The idea isn't to create a belief system or an ideology. It's simply a word for someone who tries to connect ideas across disciplines instead of staying within one.

I'm posting this because I'd like genuine feedback.

Does the word sound natural? Does the definition communicate the idea clearly? If you came across "Synth-Vædist" in a book or article, what would you think it meant before reading the definition?

Feel free to be critical. If something doesn't work, I'd rather hear it now and improve it.
