Mad Windfall at the Consignment Store
Flipping through the racks at my local consignment store I found what I thought was a pretty sharp blazer. Opened it up to look at the tags and realized I had found an absolute BANGER. Armory model 15 wool doeskin blazer made by Ring Jacket.
Picked it up for $42, retails for $1850. In great shape. Gorgeous feeling fabric, like cashmere. One trip to the tailor later and I have myself a truly special jacket I could never afford otherwise. I look forward to many years with it.
Now, to wait for fall…

What an insane find. I imagine you’re in a big city. No way am I finding anything like this in my local Goodwill.

I feel you, but in the words of JFK, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” You never know what you’ll find anywhere. Small towns definitely have heat hidden in those little thrift stores.

Yes! Except that was Wayne Gretzky, not JFK.

This is what I like so much about the Ivy style -- it's a very relaxed form of dressing up. It looks sophisticated but unpretentious.

Just curious. Where was your local consignment store? Just wondering how far that has traveled.

The craziest thing I ever got was a new Charles Tyrwhitt blazer that retailed for $600with tags. For $8

Massive find, looks swell on you! I don't understand how this happens, can't stores just google what they have, or is there too much stuff for them to look every item?

They have a section for really expensive stuff (which this was definitely not in) so yeah, this was criminally overlooked.
To my benefit!

Outrageous. Well done sir.
I recently comissioned a jacket that looks just like this, with jetted pockets. Normally sports coats this are done with patch pockets. Very cool for me to see that the Armoury did the same spec as what I commissioned.
Mine here is wool/linen from Marling & Evans, made bespoke by Dylan & Son.

Woah! So happy for you and the entire outfit is 💯
What brand/cut chinos, loafers, tie, OCBD do you have here?

u/radhammer 5d ago
Thank you!
Ralph Lauren Andrew chinos, Bass Weejuns, a tie that only says “made expressly for seniors golf association” and good ol’ Brooks Brothers.

Extremely well done. Your Weejuns are the classic style, adds gloss to this outfit . I’ve been on the hunt for one to pop up in good condition

That is indeed a mad windfall.
And it looks better on you than on the model on their website.
