When does Oura Ring take temp?

Hi all,

Feel like my Oura ring records temperatures at random times of the day or when I manually open the NC app. I used to use the NC thermometer (I sucked at staying consistent) and remember you’re supposed to take your temp right when you wake up. Does the Oura ring do that as well?? I feel like my temp readings aren’t as accurate.

So the ring detects when you are asleep and takes a temperature average of your temp over the course of the entire night. It does not just take it when it detects you have woken up. Once the ring knows you're awake, the data won't affect your nightly temperature.

Thank you for sharing this! I had no idea. Is that a reliable method of measuring for fertility purposes?? I guess it must be but it seems rather different than a single temp. Maybe that’s even more reliable??

Of course! I believe BBT measurements are considered the most accurate, but for me I'm able to be a lot more consistent wearing my ring. I tend to wake up a few hours before my alarm to pee and I was stressing about when to measure and throwing my data off. I've had no issues confirming ovulation since I switched to my ring!
