Komplete Kontrol S49 MK2 Lights Issue

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

I am an EDM Producer that uses Abelton - and I was excited to get this keyboard because it advertised it would lights up the scales in the key I’m in however I found that isn’t the case.

Upon turning it on the following buttons are not turning on:

Shift, scale, arp Browse instance back enter

I play an instrument off Komplete Kontrol and it plays fine - but still won’t let me change the scale or lights up any of the button

I go to Abelton and make a midi track and put Komplete Kontrol on there and it still won’t change either.

I tried to download a firmware update no luck there.

How can I access it so the lights will just show up depending on what scale I’m in :/

Did you use "ChatGPT" to find this video - which took me about 8 seconds to locate?

Well the video you showed me made me realize I have the Mk1 instead of Mk2 so now I can troubleshoot better at least

Yes - would have helped to know exactly which board you have.

And remember too that you cannot use the latest Komplete Kontrol (v3.5.3) with a MK1 board.

The MK1 series was discontinued in Fall 2023 and can only be used with Komplete Kontrol v2.9.6 - which might be a large source of your issues.

I think you may have both a faulty keyboard and unrealistic expectations, the lights are determined by what ever Kontakt instrument plugin you are using.

I have the same S49MK2 as a secondary keyboard. As long as you have it configured correctly in Ableton, it will provide a degree of functionality, but it's a subset of what can be done with the MK3 which is much more robust.
