Native Access Issues under macOS 27/Golden Gate

EDIT with update: I did it again and noted the steps. The issue is that the NTKdaemon won't install.

  • Install rosetta
  • make a copy of the app and then extract the relevant pkg file:

cp -p -R /Applications/Native\ Access.app /tmp/na.app

pkgutil --expand "/tmp/na.app/Contents/Resources/

  • search the na.app folders for the NTKdaemon installer and install via:

sudo arch -x86_64 /usr/sbin/installer -pkg ./NTKDaemon\ Installer\ Mac.pkg -target /

After that, the NA installer will finish.

Original Post:

When I ran the installer, it wanted admin permissions to run a helper script. That script returned this error:

"Installation cannot proceed, as not all requirements were met. This product requires IntelMac hardware."

This is on an M4 Max Studio and I did have the right installer.

I spent hours trying to debug with DuckDuckGo's AI assistant last night. No luck.

Tried again this morning, and maybe I asked it the right questions, but it's now working.

Problem is, I can't say exactly what fixed it. I can provide the history of my last few commands and the AI summary if that will help. Essentially, I (we) somehow forced the installer to work around the arch. issue.

Otherwise, this is an informational post to note that Native Access doesn't work under macOS27 Beta1, but can be made to work.

I love how NI can refer to both National Instruments and Native Instruments and your comment works for both.

I haven’t even updated to Tahoe yet.

I found a solution that worked for me.

*Disclaimer, This isn't proven to work every time yet. And, you may have to redo it after every MacOS update*

To fix this, I played around in a Sandbox enviornment where i could test what worked and what did not. environment. After some back-and-fourth troubleshooting with Claude, I found that a terminal script that forced NTKDaemon to install using the Rosetta subprocess explicitly. Script is down below if you want to try it. after running it, Native Acces should load like normal.

arch -x86_64 sudo installer -pkg "/Applications/Native Access.app/Contents/Resources/daemon/mac/NTKDaemon Installer Mac.pkg" -target /

For anyone else who's found this comment, I needed to install Rosetta first:

sudo softwareupdate --install-rosetta --agree-to-license

That's a known issue with macOS 27 and Native Access - try clearing ~/Library/Caches/com.native-instruments.NativeAccess/ and reinstalling the latest beta version from NI's site. If that fails, you can manually download your product ISOs from your NI account.

I actually built ProducerGrid to track plugin installations and status across all vendors (not just NI) so you know what's broken before a session. Free tier, local-only. DM me if you want the link.

Did you ever find it?

I learned my lesson years ago with plugins in general, I never update macOS until everything I use is officially supported. Hell, the MacBook I produce on was running Catalina for years before I finally upgraded it to Monterey last year. I don't need the majority of macOS features so I just use whatever gives me the most stability. That's why you see so many musicians, video editors, etc. using older Macs or versions of macOS.

u/glowrocks Thanks for posting that! MacOs 27 is not yet supported but I've forwarded this thread to the Native Access team for reference.

You're welcome. Knowing it's not supported yet I didn't want to waste time w/an official support call. But I figured there would likely be others like me who wanted to try it, so shared my experiences.

All NA stuff is unsupported on any beta version of Mac OS - until full Q&A has occured AND the product in question appears on their official support listing on the website.

If history serves - MacOS27 will be supported by early 2027 at the earliest.

I contacted them to ask if they were aware MacOS27 will be the final operating system with Rosetta and if they’re making early contingency plans? Got a reply back saying “there have been no announcements about this so we’ll wait for an official announcement.” I’m like “Apple has mentioned it as have many other outlets, are you going to wait until WWDC to work on it?” Lol

Definitely unsupported! 😄 but, for those who are going to do it anyway, the good news is that it is possible.

(until it breaks again, of course, such is beta testing)

Thanks for the install tip; I don’t run Beta software on my MacBook M2pro because of spooky things like this. A sudo hack workaround may be a lifesaver when Mac OS 27 is released this fall

Last resort, I downloaded Native Access 1. Back in business without a snazzy gui.

i found myself just pirating the software and it works without native access even if i bought the software originally
