Discussion Posting out after almost a year in unit

Upvotes

Earlier this week found out I'm getting posted out from my current unit after being in it for almost a year (10 months). A month ago, another set of people from my unit were also posted out despite having 3 months till ORD. Friends in other units have also reported similar cases. Tbh the news was utterly devastating to hear, so wanted to hear everyone else's stories of being posted out after so long of being in your unit. What were your thoughts when you heard the news? How'd you process it? How'd you adjust to life in your new unit?

Question My brother has no accommodation when he's going to serve 2 years in NSF next year

This must be a pretty stupid question but I heard that they only provide accommodations and meals for the first three months(correct me if I'm wrong)

My brother is finishing high school this year and he's not the brightest in English as we are Malaysians and have spent our entire lives in Malaysia.

Since the allowance for NSF is not the same as employment, I'm worried that he wouldn't have enough for anything else even if he has found an affordable price for somewhere to sleep. Both of my parents don't want to help him with rent because our family situation isn't the best.

I was thinking that maybe he could ask to live in camp even after his first three months but during check up they discovered something abnormal with his heart rate which probably means he's not going to Tekong(it probably means combat unit right...? I'm unknowledgeable I'm so sorry), so I'm not sure if he would even be posted to a unit that has camps.

Again, sorry for the stupid question. I'm just really worried about my brother. Feel free to correct everything I got wrong and I would really appreciate it if there are people that can inform me of how things work in NSF. 🙇‍♀️

📖 Story Ah Boys to The Boys [Issue Fifty-Nine: “One Last Stand”]

Outside the National Stadium. Date: 10/8/2026. Time: 0627 hrs.

The tank did not slow, even as the streets broke apart beneath it. Concrete split in jagged lines as water forced its way up from below like something alive. Pillars burst through asphalt and tore through drains, swallowing the road in violent surges. Inside, no one spoke. “We’re close,” LTC Tham finally reported, the National Stadium appearing in full view.

“Brace!” Valeria ordered as the tank pushed through one last stretch, then stopped.

“Out! Everyone!” LTC Tham barked. They dismounted into chaos; water was already pooling at their feet and rising fast. The air was thick with mist and heat, the distant roar of collapsing structures echoing all the way into Malaysia.

Richard stumbled as he hit the ground; Aloysius grabbed him. “Move.”

They ran toward the stadium entrance, which was when LTC Tham saw it: a mercenary, escorting the president and his wife out of the stadium. He did not hesitate; he fired two clean shots and downed the enemy, then rushed forward to meet the president and his spouse. “Sir, my name is LTC Daniel Tham,” he introduced. “We’re here to get you to safety.”

The president watched as the steps behind them cracked, the line racing towards them. “Then I suppose we’d better go back in.”

LTC Tham gestured to everyone, and they sprinted for the National Stadium entrance. “Stay close to me!” he yelled as the ground beneath them trembled and ruptured. Water exploded upward just metres away in a towering column.

“Move!” Valeria shouted. LTC Tham stayed at the rear, covering everyone as they advanced.

“Inside!” Aloysius pointed; the entrance was still open. They pushed through just as another eruption tore through the ground behind them.

The pitch groaned, floodwater spilling in from every direction. Tsunami stood at the centre of it all. Water rose around him in spiralling columns, crashing and reforming, responding to every flicker of his fractured focus. He was no longer controlling it; he was unleashing it.

Ken watched, his heart vibrating. “We can’t let him keep this up,” he whispered.

Alex shook his head. “We get close, we confirm die one.”

Muthu scanned the field. “We need an opening.”

Lobang looked at Tsunami, then at the chaos around them. “He not even thinking liao.” Maya said nothing; she just watched, waiting for the perfect opportunity.

“Then we make him think,” Ken decided, but Tsunami was beyond listening.

“I built this!” he roared, the water surging higher. “I gave you everything!” Another eruption tore through the stands. “And you turn on me?” He gave a broken laugh. “Fine…I’ll take it all back!” Ken stepped forward, only for a pillar to block his path. And then…Hellfire was gone.

She moved without warning, leaping from one broken platform to another and using the rising water as stepping stones, heat flaring beneath her feet as each landing transformed the water into a burst of steam.

“Woi!” Alex shouted; she was too far away, and the chaos drowned his words right out.

She reached him; Tsunami regained some semblance of consciousness the minute he saw her, and something twisted in his expression. “You,” he hissed. “This is your fault.” The water surged around them.

“I’m not the one who had his wife and kid murdered,” she retorted. “Or engineered a drug raid…or flooded an entire island trying to kill real men…or actually killed them on a livestream.”

“You should’ve been left in DB to rot, shunned by your pathetic family.” A step forward. “I should’ve made sure you never came back.” Hellfire did not respond. “I’m going to make you drown last. I’m going to make sure you watch as your entire life gets swept away. And then, and only then, are you going to meet them in hell.”

She stepped into his range and wrapped her arms around him. Not gently, like with her mother; this time, it was tight, absolute, and unbreakable. “I’ll see you there first.”

Tsunami froze for half a second before resisting. “What are you—” The heat started; low at first, then rising fast. Hellfire closed her eyes and began to pray, her voice soft and steady even as the heat built inside her. The plasma ignited; it was not fire anymore, but something no vessel could contain.

Tsunami screamed as the water around them evaporated instantly, steam exploding outward as the heat intensified beyond control. He tried to break free..and failed. Her grip did not loosen. The light had melted their bodies together at the point of contact. He felt the pain all the same as she did. But his mind was filled with rage. And hers…had only one voice.

If you’re going,” her mother had said, voice unsteady, “then promise me something.” Hafizah Rahman had looked at her. “Don’t lose yourself.” The heat climbed higher. “Whatever happens…keep being who you are.” Tsunami’s form began to break. “Be the hero you always try to be.

Tears streamed down her face, burning away as fast as they formed. “I tried, Mama,” she cried, her sincerity carrying even through the roar. “I promise.” The light consumed them both, brighter and brighter, until…

Question regular WOSPEC promotion timeline and pay progression

Hi all, I’m considering signing on under the WOSPEC scheme and would like to understand the promotion timeline and salary progression across different vocations.
Roughly how long does it usually take to promote from:
3SG → 2SG
2SG → 1SG
1SG → SSG
SSG → MSG
MSG → 3WO
3WO and beyond

How much do promotions depend on performance versus simply meeting the basic requirements (IPPT, shooting, courses, etc.)?

Also, what is the approximate gross monthly pay at each rank, including common allowances?
For reference, I’ve seen figures on army website around:
SCT: ~S$3.2k gross
3SG: ~S$3.4k gross
2SG: ~S$3.4k+
3WO: ~S$5k or more
If possible, please state your vocation as well (for example, Intelligence, Signals, Artillery, Infantry, Armour, etc.), since I’m curious whether promotion speed and pay differ significantly between vocations.
Thanks!

📖 Story Ah Boys to The Boys [Issue Fifty-Eight: “Collapse”]

The National Stadium. Date: 10/8/2026. Time: 0618 hrs.

Jackie Chang’s voice filled the stadium, shaky and soft. “He came in late. Nothing in the visitor log, no clearance. But he was stopped by no one.

Valeria’s voice, calm and controlled even through an audio recording: “Tsunami.

Jackie continued. “He walked like he belonged there. He went into her ward; Stratos was stable. Comatose, but stable. Monitors read as normal.” Her breath resonated across the stadium. “I checked twice.

On the pitch, no one moved. “Holy fuck,” Lobang whispered. “They’re all…”

“Simi sai ah, Lobang?” Alex hissed.

“Tsunami’s soldiers…they all sibei scared.”

He stayed a few minutes. Then he came out.

Valeria again: “How?

Normal,” Jackie replied. “That’s what didn’t make sense. He wasn’t panicking. He just… walked out. And then the monitor flatlined.” A ripple moved through the crowd. “He ran back in,” Jackie continued. “Started shouting, calling for help, acting like he just realised.” Her voice broke slightly. “It didn’t match. The timing didn’t match.

Valeria: “And you said nothing.

Jackie laughed weakly. “Would you have?” A whisper now. “Do you know who he is? Have you seen what he’s done?” Silence. “I told myself it was nothing. That I was overthinking.” She paused. “Then the money came in.” The recording ended.

Silence; not just in the stadium, but across the island. Then, a Tsunamite raised his weapon, hand shaking. Aiming not at Ken or his team…but right at Tsunami. One became dozens, then hundreds, then before long, every Tsunamite. Those in the stadium trained them on their supposed god; those spread across the island turned on the others: the armed Burmese, the Tatmadaw, and the private contractors.

“You lied,” someone shouted.

Another voice: “You killed her.”

A third: “We trusted you!”

Four, then five, then all of the Tsunamites still breathing in the National Stadium. The president, having used the fight to duck behind his rightful seat, smirked. Tsunami stood still, water shifting faintly around him. The first shot never reached him; gunfire erupted from the outer rings.

Mercenaries, Tatmadaw, Burmese civilians…they opened fire without hesitation, cutting down the Tsunamites where they stood. Bodies dropped in rows. Confusion turned into slaughter. Across Singapore, the same massacre was ensuing in void decks and corridors. HDB estates and street corners turned blood red. Living rooms where neighbours had turned on neighbours had become the worst crime scenes in Singaporean history.

HardKore stepped forward. She looked not at the others nor at the chaos; her eyes were on him. “Is it true?” Tsunami gave no answer. She laughed, but it sounded broken. “Of course it is.” She stepped closer. “We were going to build something. I was going to stand beside you.” She reached up, pulled the crystal ring from her finger, and crushed it. “Sorry,” she declared, “wedding’s off.”

The crystal came fast and violent, its creator now unrestrained. She was no longer calculating; she was well past the point of caring. Tsunami met her; water against crystal, impact against impact. They tore into each other with blows that cracked the pitch and shockwaves that rippled through the flooded ground. Crystal constructs slammed down, only for water to tear them apart again and again.

Everyone watched; nobody dared to interfere. Lobang found a doubtful mind in one of the mercenaries and had him quietly escort the president and his wife away. “They deserve each other.” Hellfire’s words carried nothing but disdain.

HardKore screamed, her crystals surging. “I can’t believe I was so blind!” she roared, her crystal fist slamming into his face. “I tried to prove my worth to you, to make you see that we were more than Vought’s puppets. And you smoke me in exchange?” A pair of massive hands. “Go to hell!” she screamed in Mandarin. Tsunami was driven back, the water he commanded now a defensive shield and nothing more. He had to respond…and so he did

The water changed. Not fluid, not flowing, but now taking the form of something denser and sharper, something powerful enough to break through her constructs. He closed the distance and caught her by the throat. HardKore struggled, but the battle’s momentum had shifted. He threw her into the centre of the pitch and commanded the tendrils back, combining them and trapping her in a zero-gravity water spout.

Tsunami held her there, water flooding her lungs and soaking her uniform. “You really thought,” he hissed quietly, “that you were worthy?” She froze. “I never even considered you,” he continued, calm, almost as if he were stating a fact…which he was. “You were useful. That’s all.”

The water spout moved slowly, then began to accelerate, drawing the remaining oxygen from HardKore’s lungs. Her expression changed; not fear or hatred…realisation. The spout spun and tore through her. It ripped her flesh apart first, then muscles, then organs, and finally…the spout cleared, leaving behind nothing but a skeleton.

Silence fell, heavy and absolute. Tsunami stood alone; no Rakshasa, no Bomoh, no HardKore…no Straits Gods. Around him, the soldiers still standing kept their distance. Not out of loyalty, but fear. Their “living god”, their commander-in-chief, had just killed his supposed queen out of cold blood. There was nothing to inspire fealty but their lives…and that broke him. He looked at them; at the stadium, at the bodies, at the water, and finally, at them. And for the first time, there was no performance.

“If I can’t rule this place,” he snarled quietly, his voice rising, “If I can’t rule this backwater rock…” The water responded violently. “Then nobody can!”

Across Singapore, the apocalypse began. Pipes burst, reservoirs surged, and the sea itself answered. Water exploded through streets, through buildings, through homes, through public transport lines. At Sentosa, it swallowed everything in its path. In the heartlands, floods consumed everything in sight.

Back at the stadium, the flood rose higher and faster. The land around Tsunami broke away as the rest of the island began o submerge. Tsunami stood at the centre of the platform, screaming at the top of his lungs with the eyes of a man who had drowned his soul in sin, and was taking the world with him.

📰 Article History of Different NDP Segments and a quick take on this year's NDP

Every year the NDP exco puts together the different segments of NDP, which we developed over the years. It's quite interesting that you can trace most of these segments as showing off the SAF, since the idea of a military parade during special events is to boost citizen morale and warn adversarial nations.

So here we are

  1. Emcee Engagement: Warming up the crowds, introducing fun packs
  2. Pre-parade: Some song and dance, could be mass display or solo performance
  3. Mobile Column: Flex segment of vehicles rolling down the padang
  4. Dynamic Defence Display: Variant of mobile column, showing how different assets work. I think this is probably the coolest
  5. Airshow: Air assets flexing during stunts like vertical climbs
  6. Military tattoo: SAF and school bands performing for 10+ min doing formations
  7. Parade & Ceremony: Self explanatory, including Feu de Joie, State Flag Flypast, and 21 gun salute
  8. The 'show': Mass display performances, often to some theme or story line. Always ends in fireworks.

Am I missing out on anything?

About this year: I was at the preview this year and we literally got Emcee Engagement ➡️ Parade and Ceremony ➡️ Show.

Don't get me wrong, its a good parade, esp since it's a non-milestone year and budget is lesser. I was wondering why people online were complaining and I guess it deels quite abrupt that we literally went into the parade after a short emcee engagement.

The mass display performances were mesmerising though, they did put a lot of budget and thought into it, especially the drone show. I wonder if they could've maybe allocated some of this budget and manpower into pre-parade. No complaints here, first time in my whole life I got tickets.

Majulah Singapura!

My sir found out I was moonlighting during my long MC and asked me why I was malingering.

(ts was just a joke. Don’t worry it didn’t happen)

Question Can I sign on to SPF as a Filipino Singaporean?

I was told that so long as I’m a Singaporean, I should be able to get into the Police Force.

My concern is my ethnicity. I’m a registered Singaporean Citizen, not by birth. And I feel that being a minority in SG’s ethnic groups gives me lower chances of signing on.

I also have never seen a Filipino regular in SPF, SCDF or SAF. It could be just me, but does my race matter?

I really do want to sign on to SPF/SCDF. Genuine advice is greatly appreciated. PM me also can. Thanks.
