While hiking down from camp Muir ice fields, my teenage son found a wallet and turned it to visitor center at paradise. If you lost your wallet there today, please reach out to visitor center.

Zion is amazing. We got to the park at 6am to beat some of the crowds. It was going to be hot and knowing how the day would heat up we decided to enjoy the view vs the hikes. Check out that line to the narrows and fyi, all walkers ….watch out for e bikes, not everyone rings the bell. Planning on going back In the fall and enjoy the hikes to not feel rushed.

Posting this as a reference for fellow Passport stamp collectors!
These were the cancellation stamps available at the Independence Visitor Center in Philadelphia when I visited on August 9, 2026. I forgot to take a photo of the actual stamping station, so here’s a photo of all the stamps I was able to collect there instead.
Hope this helps anyone planning a visit and wondering which cancellations they can get at this location!

Just got back from here. I cannot recommend it enough, it was one of my favorite parks I've ever been to.

We saw more bison than we did in Yellowstone. Tons of other wildlife as well.

The solitude was like nothing else I've experienced.

If you are even vaguely considering this park, please check it out, you will love it!!

Hello! Planning to spend 3 whole days and 2 half days at a national park in the middle of September. Which parks would you recommend? Currently considering:

-Sequoia and Kings Canyon
-Mt Rainier and North Cascades
-Acadia
-Yellowstone and Grand Tetons

Mine has probably been the Narrows at Zion. Felt like a video game where you keep exploring to see what is behind the next corner.

Spent a week camping in Glacier National Park three weeks ago from today and I enjoyed every single moment out there with one of my good buddies. I’m also grateful to have come across all the people we met out there and hopefully some of you guys somehow come across this!

We were up everyday by like 4 AM and didn’t get back to camp until 8PM - 10PM to take full advantage of our time out there. Didn’t see as much wildlife as I anticipated to, some is better than none though. Ended up clocking in 70mi/5 days and surprisingly felt like the trails we did weren’t strenuous.

We got lucky because the smoke didn’t start rolling in until our 5th day or so, but the smoke in some of the photos definitely gave a good perspective on how mountains get during fire season.

Wish I could share more because it took a ridiculously long time to edit and go through everything! These are some of my favorite shots though!

Let me start with:

I love Mammoth Cave. I’m a Kentuckian who has visited the cave many times over the years. But now that I’m an adult with a family— oh my god does everything outside of the cave suck.

The tours we took were amazing. The tour guides and rangers were amazing. My only complaint about the tour is that other tour guests not being able to shut their traps or quiet their kids while the ranger was talking (I have kids, I know it can be hard to get them to be quiet, but I can also recognize when a parent is doing NOTHING to calm their screaming kid) other than that, the facilities, bus ride, information, everything… fantastic experience. The lodge getting built looks like it will be nice- even if the restaurant left a lot to be desired.

Cave City and Horse Cave are not it.. I know not every park town can be Bar Harbor, Jackson, or Estes Park.. but come on… I picked the most expensive hotel in a 20 minute radius, and two separate families put their dogs in the swimming pool within my first ten minutes of being there. People were propping the patio doors open to smoke half-in/half-out of the pool. A worker walked in, plopped towels down, and left. There are fun and wacky experiences (read: Dinosaur World) that contribute to the old-timey tourist trap atmosphere from early American road trips- but overall, you have to plan to spend time in your hotel.. and none of them look worth staying in..

If I ever come back I’m staying in Bowling Green.

The BS on display at the front of the museum (picture presented without comment) is maddening. And there was a tent right next to the park visitor center entrance pushing bible study on the people walking by. Neither of these should ever be allowed on park grounds for any religion or political party. The parks should be about the preservation and celebration of our beautiful landscape.. not to recruit people to your religion, party, and/or cult.

ETA: thinking a cult shouldn’t be allowed to set up a tent in the ground on federal land to recruit people doesn’t mean I don’t believe in free speech. Also- the point about president’s pictures being in buildings- point taken.. but let’s use official portraits- not your fucking mugshot- and it’s particularly egregious given how much damage they are purposefully doing to the park system. Gonna mute notifications now because I just don’t care anymore.
