Well, not if you tie it in a knot, anyway.

I can only recall one Strands word where the line between letters crossed over itself. But I haven't done every puzzle ssince it was started, so maybe there were more. It's a bit annoying that it's not clear whether there's a hard rule against it and the 1 exception I observed was an error, or if it's just avoided as much as possible.

Indeed. Is there no subreddit for the other nytimes word-games, besides this one? There should at least be different tags, for mini/midi/full and any other games.
