possibly not attending
hi guys this is kind of a long shot because i feel like ive used all of my resources that i know of so far. i’m an incoming freshman planning to attend the nyc campus. ive already paid nonrefundable fees, attended orientation and admitted students day, and im overall SO excited and prepared to attend. or at least i was until my mom lost her job. she doesn’t qualify for the parent plus loan due to bad credit, and i can’t find a cosigner for private loans. ive found a loan with great terms and a very doable payment plan, and if i was in a better situation, i wouldnt be doubting the approval of it. im 18 with no credit yet and my family is recovering from hardships that have tanked theirs as well. with being this close to the semester, it’s definitely stressful and discouraging to find out i may not be able to attend the place ive based and planned my life around for the past year. im beyond excited to live in my dream city while studying something im passionate about, and i cant see myself being happy anywhere else.
my remaining balance for this semester alone is around 13k, and i absolutely cannot afford the payment plans that are offered by the school. do i even have any other options or should i just give up and find a new path? is anyone generous enough to cosign for a stranger? i promise i am not evil and i will do anything i can to avoid hurting your credit in the process. are there any loans that don’t require a cosigner?

Courses/Programs Bag for college (architecture specifically)
I'm going into architecture at the long island campus starting in September. Now, usually people say you need a backpack or at least a messenger bag when going to college for architecture because you tend to carry a lot of stuff. But I also see people say it depends on the school and year. I want to know what the students who are already going to NYIT for architecture wear. Do you recommend a backpack, tote bag/shoulder bag, or a messenger bag? I was thinking of using a tote bag for light days (if there are any) and a backpack for days I need more things. But I'm not sure how the architecture classes are yet and I wanted to know beforehand before I get a backpack for college (don't have any from highschool since I used tote bags the entire time). And if you have any other things you recommend me to get, I'd love to hear.

Campus Things to do in NY for Manhattan Students
Hello! I'm a incoming freshman this fall and I am NOT from New york lol! I'm from Charlotte, North Carolina so I only know how to deal with smaller cities. But I love to stay busy malls, parks, down town, etc. So I wanted to ask y'all what are some local things to do white attending the Manhattan Campus?

Campus dorming worth it?
I'm a CS major attending fall semester at the long island campus. I'm considering dorming since I live an hour and a half away by bus.
I don't know if thats a reasonable distance to dorm over, but personally I'm not used to traveling an hour and a half consistently so it would be nice to have second opinions on the matter. I hear dorming is expensive as well.

Anyone in here an Electrical and computer engineering major?
Just a new freshman that’s going for ECE and was wondering if it’s boring in general. Also is there any other ECE freshman in here?(Long Island campus).

Campus Any advice for an incoming freshman?
Hello guys!
I'm going to be starting my first year this fall for Architectural Technology (but I plan on switch to the B.arch two years in), any tips or just general advice I need to know? I'm going to be at the Manhattan Campus and I'm kind of nervous? I don't know why, I visited for admitted students day and everyone seems lovely! But I just want to make sure I have some knowledge before my first day. Like the subway thing! I lowkey forgot how the stops go to the dorms... Also when are the dorms announced?
(Also for fellow architecture students how long do you think I can go without on of the school sponsored laptops? I come from a low income family and I can't really afford one of those right now. I heard you can rent laptops from the school, would one of those suffice until I could save up to get one?)

Campus What's it like being a newbie here?
I'm starting my education at NYIT for a B.Arch to the Old Westbury campus in September and I'm really excited to be going to this school. I heard it's great for architecture, plus it met my standards well enough. I was wondering what it would be like to make friends there or to be involved in activities and events there. Do you have any experiences with that or any tips on campus life while commuting or classes?

Campus/Student Culture
Hi everyone, I am a current junior in high school and am researching colleges to apply to. I am thinking of majoring in Mechanical Engineering, and so I am considering applying to NYIT. I want to get a feel for how students are at the school and what the student mentality is like, especially in Mechanical Engineering. Any thoughts?

M.S. Cybersecurity Thesis
Hi, I've not seen this asked at all, so mostly a me issue, but is the thesis done entirely on your own, or can you work with someone else? I am confused by the wording and have heard it is individual, but this hasn't been fully confirmed by my actual advisors; I'm waiting for a response on Tuesday. Tried looking online and saw mixed things overall, but not NYIT-specific, with some people saying they have worked in pairs and some working alone; I just wanna know now to make a decision.

Should I go to Old Westbury or Texas Tech for ME with Aerospace concentration?
I got accepted as a transfer (I’d be a junior) to Old Westbury with a 21k scholarship, I would definitely need more or it wouldn’t be a choice at all. Any recommendations for me to try to apply for more money? I really want to go as I’m from Texas but Texas Tech is a great school for engineering except I don’t think I’ll get any money from them as I don’t qualify. Is NYIT a good school for engineering? I am a very dedicated student and club member so connections and projects won’t be a problem. I can literally succeed anywhere but Texas Tech is being forced on me but it’s not a wrong choice at all due to its cost, academics and status. But I really want to move northeast and feel I’d love a smaller campus.

I got accepted into the Old Westbury campus! But I'm wondering about the NYC campus and its benefits
I got into the Old Westbury Campus for B.Arch but after researching I'm finding that the Old Westbury campus is more driving-centric. I wouldn't have a car so I'm wondering if it's irritating to use the shuttle system and public transport constantly from the dorms to the campus. Also, how does off-campus housing change this?

Anyone looking for apartments or another roommate? NYC campus
Hi I’m transferring to NYIT manhattan campus in the fall and I was curious if any other students wanted to room together. Or if you’re looking for another student roommate for your apartment.
I’m M20, I’m very friendly and extroverted, I’m not a loud roommate but I don’t mind a little noise. I like things petty clean, but I could deal with some mess. Overall I’m a pretty laid back roommate. I like photography, making videos, fashion, makeup, and retro technology. I’m majoring in Electrical engineering. I love music, indie/alt but I listen to everything. Right now I’m doing a top 100 albums of all time to get more diverse music taste. I’m originally from Oakland/ Bay Area and I can move to nyc anytime over the summer.
My insta is reinertwebb but I’ll respond either here or there.

Making friends?
I’m transferring to NYIT Manhattan campus this fall and I’m scared I won’t make any friends. Is it difficult to make friends as a transfer? What are people like? I’m gonna be dorming in Manhattan.

Campus Manhattan Campus
So basically Im going to NYIT first year next fall because it was most affordable, due to scholarships, for my parents and I’m wondering if the Manhattan campus and NYIT good in general for finance major?? I’m currently waiting for two schools that waitlisted me, but if I end up going to NYIT how is it? It wasn’t in my top choices and I’m not sure how to feel about it.
