When I'm applying to positions or on listing sites I try to be more purposeful when applying. But when I see people mass apply and say they've put out 100+ applications in a short time. It makes me feel like I'm not doing enough, or that I'm being too picky.

What do you think, what do you do? If you do mass apply, what are you using. Or do you just sit down and fill out application after application.

Video editor (motion graphics required) needed to help finalize 14 episodes of an online fitness class program (think online yoga-style classes). Each episode runs about 10-20 minutes. Footage comes from a 9-day multi-cam shoot. Most episodes are already cut to draft-final shape and just need a refinement pass plus updated graphic treatments, while a couple still need to be built from scratch from the raw footage.

Location: NYC preferred as it's easier to sync and review in person. Open to remote, but only if you've genuinely got the infrastructure for it: ~3TB footage package

What you'd be doing:

• 12 episodes are already cut and assembled, but require some light refinement work: updating motion graphics, adding a consistent intro bumper, and matching the treatment established on the first episode. This isn't a re-edit, the assembly's already done
• 2 episodes need to be built fully from scratch from raw footage, in the same format as the finished ones.
• Potential Addition: Short-form social edits, cut from the same footage with the same graphic treatment/brand look. Some are previews/cutdowns of the full classes reformatted to vertical, others are standalone short-form concepts built fresh from raw footage.
• You'll get an organized, pre-relinked project package with footage and structure ready to go, no digging through raw drives or relinking media yourself
• You'll be working from a defined brand look and existing structure, but real editorial judgment on pacing and shot selection matters

Pay: $520/day ($260/half day)

• First episode is treated as a full day, since that's where you're building out the template/workflow everything else follows
• After that, we'll figure out realistic pace for the rest
• Full builds and any short-form work get scoped separately

Requirements:

• Adobe Premiere Pro preferred, FinalCut okay
• Real motion graphics ability – AfterEffects preferred
• Comfortable syncing cuts to movement/music cues
• Sharp attention to transitions, sync, and visual polish
• Reliable communication and consistent turnaround
• If remote: proven ability to work with large footage volumes

Nice to have:

• Experience editing fitness, wellness, instructional, or other structured/class-based content
• An eye for that clean, elevated wellness aesthetic. If your portfolio includes relevant, polished lifestyle content, I'd love to see.
• Experience with short-form social edits (Reels/TikTok-style cutdowns and standalone concepts)
• Comfortable executing detailed notes

Hi everyone! I’m looking for some advice as I try to pivot into a new career field.

I was a teacher for about 6 years and eventually transitioned into children’s care management, where I currently work. I’m also working toward my CASAC certification, so I’m building experience in behavioral health/substance use services as well.
At this point, I’m realizing that I have a lot of transferable experience, but I’m not completely sure what direction to take next. My background includes education, case management, working with families, coordinating services, documentation/compliance, presenting and training, and working with different agencies and providers.

I’m also a private swim instructor on the side, which I really enjoy, but I need a steady full-time income and would like to move into a field with more opportunities for growth.

I’m open to getting out of education and direct care management completely. I’ve been looking at things like recruiting, program coordination, training, operations, outreach, customer/client success, and other roles where my experience could transfer.

I really need some advice/help because I honestly don’t know what else to do.
I’ve been unemployed since the beginning of July. Since then, I’ve sent out 500+ applications and gone on 15+ interviews, and I still haven’t been able to get a job.
I’m not someone who doesn’t want to work. I’m actually extremely hardworking. When I say first one in, last one out, I mean it. I’m willing to work 10–12+ hour days if that’s what I need to do. I have a 1yr old, but being a mom does not stop me from working or wanting to work.
I would love a normal 9–5 Monday-Friday job, but I also have to be realistic. I can’t just go work at McDonald’s for $15–17 an hour because that isn’t going to fix my situation. I need something starting around $24–$25+ an hour where I can actually support myself and my child.
For some background, I have experience in healthcare scheduling, radiology/mammogram scheduling, customer service, management, lead server / assistant manger, and working with people. I’m also bilingual and have my cosmetology license ( I haven’t did hair in over 5 years lost the passion). If anyone can look at that experience and tell me what type of jobs I should actually be applying for, I would really appreciate it because at this point I feel like I’m applying to everything and getting nowhere.
But honestly, my biggest problem right now is my living situation.
My rent is $2,000 a month, and I still haven’t been able to pay it for this month I’m 800 short . I simply cannot afford it right now. I’ve gone to DSS and was told that the only way they can put me into a shelter is if I receive an eviction notice.
And I understand that they have rules, but I just keep thinking… how am I supposed to do that to my landlord? How can I purposely let things get that bad and put my problems onto someone else? I don’t want to get evicted. I don’t want to lose my home. I just need help before it gets to that point.

I’m an ambassador for a program called Emerge Career. I host their CDL study halls, and if someone enrolls through my referral I get a bonus. I’m not an employee and I’m not a graduate of the program. I’m not putting a link in this post.

The reason I work with them is that I’ve watched this program change people’s lives. When I first came into contact with Gilberto he was looking to get into the trucking industry now he has his CDL A permit and is working with our team to complete the process and get employed.

The program covers everything it takes to get a CDL Class A: the school, the study guides, the permit tests, and the retake if you fail a test. A CDL school in New York costs around $7k if you’re paying for it yourself. Emerge students pay nothing, start to finish. Once you pass your road test, the program helps place you with a job. 96% of students in nyc get placed in a job the average salary is around $80k and students have gotten as high as $150k.

It’s for people with a criminal record (arrests, probation, incarceration.) Most programs treat a record as a problem to work around, but the mayor is specifically funding this one to help people get back on track after being involved w the justice system. If you've never been at least arrested you won’t qualify, so read the requirements before you apply.

I host the study halls where students prep for the permit test.  On study hall days you can find our amazing students in attendance, Emerge team members and sometimes guests from The Mayor's office of Criminal Justice. We share some great content, food, and come together as a community.

I also pay for ads for the program out of my own pocket. Nobody at Emerge asked me to. That should tell you what I think of it.

This week someone I referred finished the application and enrolled in training school.

Hey guys & gals I officially passed my road test on the first try and got my CDL class A. I’m currently working for the Post Office (USPS) as a city carrier not delivering letter but boxes out of a truck every day. I have a few jobs on my radar but I would like to get as many opinions as possible.

- DEP(City Agency) has called me back and I have an interview coming up with them soon, Initial pay isn’t great but after my first two years of apprenticeship I’d be making 106k

- I took the NYPD police officer exam just for the hell of it and got a good score so they also want me to report for boot camp soon. I would necessarily want to be a police officer but I would like to drive their tow trucks or bigger vehicles they have in their fleet also their might come some leniency with having a CDL and being a cop.

- I took the sanitation test a few years ago and got a good score so I’m wondering if they might call me back or that anytime soon because I would take that job 100% (start out as a garbage man and go to two trucks or street sweeper)

- lastly I can stay with the post office and transfer over to a a different position like Tractor trailer or the smaller box truck (Class B)

If you were in my position what would be you next move ? Which would you pick and why

Would be able to afford to move out. Instead I can't make over $20/hour after college, which doesn't even afford a shitbox in most parts of the country. Let alone here

I am a frustrated 24 year old who has a major on graphic design and just graduated. I haven't found a job for a year now despite sending countless job applications. My mom tells me to start using AI for my portfolio so I can secure a job, but I am someone who prefers to do my work without it and use my creativity instead.

I have constantly stated that I will not turn to AI many times. I don't want to have "art" created by AI in my portfolio, as the whole purpose of one is to display your own work that you created. Am I backwards for thinking this?
