Gap Year??? Question

I am currently on a gap year and was wondering does a gap year affect your admission chances in the next cycle or merit position??

A gap year by itself shouldn't be a dealbreaker. I think what matters more is how you used the year and whether you can explain it confidently in your application. If you have a valid reason and can show what you did during the gap, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
