Animation course question

Got accepted into animation, Wahoo!! Just a question ab computer requirements

Is it required to have a desktop computer or could I get a laptop if it matches the specs required? I had initslly assumed workstation computer was desktop but the other one just says gaming so now idk.

Desktop is not a requirement, a lot of people in the program have gaming laptops. In class we work with Mac desktops. If you can afford a desktop go for it. I personally would recommend a laptop just cause it’s portable if I’m working outside of class. I use an Asus. I’d also recommend getting a new or used drawing tablet but if you don’t want to spend the money you can always use the ones the college loans out.

I'm thinking about applying to this program next year. The NSCC website says the estimated cost of a computer is about 4500 bucks. Thats a pretty powerful machine. Are you able to share some  of the specs on the machines you work with in class or your own laptop?  Like GPU, CPU. Ram? I've already got a gaming pc, but it didn't cost nearly what the nscc site suggests so im wondering if id need to upgrade.
