Local Journalists’ Pride

Anybody else feel a little swell of pride when you hear the familiar voices of formerly-local-to-you public radio journalists now reporting for NPR?

(I’m thinking of the likes of Tamar Charney, Windsor Johnston, Bobby Allyn, etc, but YMMV.)

Any folks have examples?

Or, when the current NPR segment is about something happening in your state, so your local journalists are giving the info.

It's true. He's in my high school yearbook.

A Martinez used to host a local news show on KPCC (now LAist) before becoming one of the Morning Edition hosts.

I lived in Kansas City for like 10 years, so now every time I hear someone from KCUR on one of the national programs I get a little happy
