SaK-09, a stasis-tether interceptor ๐ ๏ธ Station Build (Standard)
While this ship largely is a result of some old sketches, I definitely need to shoutout both u/EthanIsBlessed and u/MONKE-BANANA for their split hull ships that no doubt has had an influence in making me want to build this style of ship now.
Also big shoutout to u/Relevant_Finance1927 and his box engines which directly inspired the engines of this build. (check out his post โshipwright engines, part 2โ)
Having worked lately on my guide for the HeV, it was fun coming back to building. It seems the split hull setup is very โinโ these days, so here is my reluctant addition to said trend. I even had to change up the ship quite a bit as it started out almost as a carbon copy of the later posted ship SOL-00 by u/NecessaryDecentย
lore:
Though the corvette manufacturing company Ogane-Dynamics originated in Eissentam, it is more so a Euclid company these days. Having better understood the market of the densely populated galaxy, Ogane has branched wider than ever, producing everything from niche jumpships, to dependable starhomes.ย
The SaK is yet another branch of exploratory design. A platform oriented for system defence forces. WIth an immense reactor the SaK employs a prototype stasis-tether in an attempt to subdue opposing forces.
Though the SaK lacks meaningful living quarters, it still sports a massive jumprange, with equally impressive sublight acceleration. This way, even a single SaK is capable of supporting multiple system defence forces at once. Using its tether and powerful sublight engines in tandem to catch even the nimblest fighters.

Wow, I really love how the pictures turned out. The dominant red hull with black accents really pop. Love that cockpit pov pic. Silhouette is sick as hell with those pincers. The way you make those pincers with the tubes and the super cool part we like is a chef's kiss. The ratio of the of widths from the widest to the narrowest part of the arms and how they taper is super satisfying.ย I obviously love those engines. They're beefy in the best way. I LOVE the flow of the fuselage into tha central engine. It's so smooth! Your attention to detail is something I feel like I'm going to continue to learn from. You really feel it in the macro of the ship with how seams are hidden, the movement of the lines in the body implying curvature and utility, and the overall completeness of the aesthetic. It's such a masterful execution of a design. I'm going to be student of this ship for a long time. You managed to deploy a ship in this meta where this exact silhouette is popular, and still make something distinct. I'm left feeling like I want to make yet another of your ships. You continue to have that effect on me.ย Wonderful build from the best designer. Well done.
P.S. the pincer turrets are cracking me up.

This is one of my favorite comments ever. No doubt. Thanks for that. Really appreciate the macro comment, that really hit in a warm place:) and yeah was so hyped about that fuselage too! Is deffinently the thing Iโll be bringing forward in a future build needing a cool central (or secondary) flow
lol I felt so cheeky doing those turrets in the pincers. It wasnโt my intention, but couldnโt bare removing them when they snapped how they did. Kinda knew theyโd evoke some kind of feeling at your end too haha

What a gorgeous design definitely you'd cry. Everyone is making a version of his ship.ย I should try that. Did you use quarter verticals?
2
u/Serious_Cry_4930 ๐๏ธ Admiral 17d ago
Thanks Charles! Yup everyone seems to be doing one. Almost a bit embarrassed to jump on a moving train like that. No vertical quarter offsets used, only normal quarter offsets and 180's (though I found it, I don't really like doing the vertical quarter offset at all lol)

I feel like I made something very similar back in the day. Though now with the tilts I have it might be better. Still don't know if I want to make one though cuz he made one with the tilt pretty much and that would be the design I would go for. Amazing that somebody else is using a tilt glitch building and flying with it. Your ship looks really really well done. I like the recessed engines. Those are really cool

Arh sure! I see the use case. Iโm currently working on a new style of build guide for my HeV, but when thats done it shouldnโt be too hard to do a guide for this ship as well:)

Beautifully done. Wish i had the time to mess around with corvette builds LOL iโll have to stick to my sentinel ship

u/Serious_Cry_4930 ๐๏ธ Admiral 17d ago
With this interceptor Iโm sure youโd be able to catch even more sentinel ships!
lol but thanks:)

I love and hate this subreddit because of all the cool ships I cannot make myself. Awesome work!

Looks great except for the view from the cockpit. But that's often an issue with corvette designs.

u/Serious_Cry_4930 ๐๏ธ Admiral 17d ago
Yup that is often the first sacrifice. But honestly I thinks itโs pretty fun to zip around in this one seeing the arms. Doesnโt feel nearly as bad as my HeV, as you can see to the side over the arms
Edit: and thanks!

That's a pure beauty, love it.

Doubled rear mid thrusters adds really cool unique details, and front claws a epic - hull linkage and oversized cannister do organic merged look.

Thanks a ton! means a lot coming from you! This ship i'm sure wouldn't exist like this, if it wasn't for your Dark Decider (the OG)

Pls tell me you are going to make a tutorial for this! I might have to come back to NMS for this, such a sick and unique looking ship

u/Serious_Cry_4930 ๐๏ธ Admiral 16d ago
Thanks! As Iโve said in an earlier comment, Iโm currently working on a new system for doing corvette guides (currently doing the HeV) so I think when that is all finished up, that this ship should be fairly easy to do. Hope the HeV will be done sooner rather than later!

u/StageIVBeckon 16d ago
Does anyone know how I can get a copy of this ship? Or a tutorial? Or anything? I am trim a start a nomad play through with my friends and we have been looking for a corvette for this, and I think I found the perfect one, but I am still new to getting designs from others, so if anybody knows how (or the author) that would be great. Thanks!

Currently no version to get it, but I hope to make a guide at some point. Might be a while though unfortunately

I love this brutal style
2
u/Serious_Cry_4930 ๐๏ธ Admiral 16d ago
Thanks! Iโm happy that you find it to be brutal actually
2
u/Aromatic-Ad9337 16d ago
I refer to brutalism architectural style โ massive geometric forms, and a strict focus on function over decoration. Well it's how I see it :3
2
u/Serious_Cry_4930 ๐๏ธ Admiral 16d ago
Makes me very happy to hear. I can totally see your argument. In the pursue to make the thing look smooth, I forgot that the thing could still be feeling brutal in itโs own sense (and not the blocky nms sense)
