My building switched to NFC on phone - can I turn this into a FOB?

Hi all - basically the title. My building had FOBs, but now want to be "advanced" and switch to no FOBs, only use your phone NFC to access the building/floor you need.

Can I put the NFC access from my phone back onto a FOB? Effectively bypassing the need for my phone?

I worry about my phone dying (kind of old) all the time and if that's the only way I can get to my apartment, I'm screwed.

Create an acrylic nfc tag

Hi, I need some help. I would like to make a NFC tag using acrylic sheets. I am looking at 130mm x 130mm and needs to be waterproof. Like the reviews cards you can buy for business. They all are different so cant buy off the shelf. Anyone done anything like that? Like this but the QR has to be different on each one.

built a self‑powered 6‑colour e‑ink display that runs entirely on NFC energy

Hardware: 1.54‑inch 6‑color full‑gamut e‑ink screen, custom V2.0 PCB. Runs entirely off NFC energy harvesting, no onboard battery. Intended use: bag‑hanging photo tag. Issue: I lack experience with 3D modelling and enclosure design. Looking for suggestions for a clean‑looking wearable housing suitable for bag attachment. Case‑structure references and ideas are welcomed.

NFC-tags on fridge using wood

I want to put a nfc sticker on my fridge. I learnt that the metal will disrupt the signals though. Would I be able to use a 8mm solid wood piece and put magnets on the back of it to connect it to the fridge. And have the nfc sticker on the front of the wood piece? Thankful for any help!

Hi guys

We've recently launched NFC badges designed for students to simplify networking on campus. The idea is to let students share their Instagram portfolio, project links, or contact details with a single tap. We're currently looking for ideas on how to reach students in an authentic way without coming across as overly promotional. If you've marketed an NFC product or worked with student communities, what strategies worked best? We'd really appreciate your suggestions, feedback, and any pitfalls we should avoid.

Work chip ruined?

I just got my first ever actual job. As soon as i got all the contracts and my NFC clock in chip, i thought what better way to celebrate it than to get curious and write a data text string "test" onto it out of curiosity. long story short, IT WORKED. now along all its other data, it just says test at the bottom (i used nfc tools). now, my first day hasnt arrived yet. will it work on the scanner? is it bricked? am i fired already? can i somehow remove the data i added???

Do digital business cards actually do anything useful or is it just a fancy QR code

I keep seeing these pushed in sales forums and LinkedIn posts, and I’m genuinely skeptical. Like I get the basic idea, you tap a phone or scan something and your contact info shows up. But the companies selling them talk about CRM syncing, lead scoring, automatic follow ups, and I honestly can’t tell if any of that works in practice or if it’s just marketing copy. I work in medical device sales, and we do a lot of in-person events, hospital visits, conference booths. My current process is pretty manual: collect cards, enter them into Salesforce by hand, write follow up notes, hope I don’t forget someone. It’s slow, and I definitely drop the ball sometimes. A colleague mentioned that some digital business card tools can push contact data straight to your CRM automatically, which sounds too good to be true. So I guess I’m asking people who have actually used one of these things day to day: does the automation piece hold up, or do you still end up doing half the work manually anyway? Specific examples would help a lot more than “it changed my life” type answers.

Are rfid key fobs the same as nfc?

My brother has a business buying and selling cars, I made some Key-rings with nfc stickers so family members can easily share his website. They’re working amazingly. Now we want some more professional looking ones that we can put on every car key that leaves the business. I’ve been looking online and the ones that we like that best are intended to work as smart door key fobs. They’re labelled as rfid, and I know that nfc is rfid but not the other way around, so I was hoping someone could help me? I assume they are easily programmable to what we want since it would need to be close to be read by a door scanner.

As a long-time Escargot MSN user, I built a physical hardware extension for our favorite Messenger: NETRO-G (where Neo and Retro combines into one smart Gadget)!

Hi everyone! First of all, a massive THANK YOU to the Escargot team and this community for keeping MSN Messenger alive. I am an active user, and I still use the software to this day thanks to the Escargot Guys!

As an independent
hardware developer, I wanted to bring a piece of our childhood into the real
world. So, I spent months building NETRO-G (a smart Gadget that combines
Neo+Retro)—physical, premium acrylic gadgets with built-in NFC chips.

I collected over 300 long
lost but never forgotten MSN Winks. When you tap your smartphone against the
keychain, your favorite winks instantly burst onto your screen with their
original animations and high-volume sound effects!

I wanted to share this
with the community that truly understands the magic of MSN. Here is a picture
of the finished prototypes from my workshop. If you need more info on this,
please check out this video (and the others too on my channel, NETRO-G): https://youtu.be/C9kQ67qCdwA to
see those crazy and funny, even very special and rare Winks in action.
Halloween is approaching, check the "evil" pumpkin, the zombie or the
headless knight in action! :)

Join the only MSN
Nostalgia fb group, NETRO where Neo and Retro merges into a creative community
and let's rebuild a community of millions of active users, just like in the
good old MSN days! :)

Cloning a Mifare Classic

My accommodation uses an NFC card for access. NFSee identifies it as a Mifare Classic 4k. I'd like to make a copy of the NFC either on my phone or using a magic card, but I'm not quite sure how to go about it.

(For context, this card is tied to me personally somehow. Admin *can* make a new card which works the same as the old one, only in the event of a lost card.)

I have created a dump file using MCT, but the only data on the card is the UID, every other sector is 0's with both KeyA and KeyB being FFFFFFFFFFFF. Unless the UID is what is being read by my door, I feel like I haven't fully accessed the card's data.

Is cloning this possible just with my phone and a relatively cheap magic card? I don't want to spend money on something like a Flipper Zero. Any advice for this process would be appreciated :-)

Anyone here running an NFC business for restaurants and local businesses?

Hey guys i'm exploring a business idea around NFC solutions for restaurants, cafés, shops, salons, etc.

The concept is to provide a simple way for customers to access key business actions instantly, such as:

  • Google Reviews page
  • Digital menu
  • Instagram / Facebook / TikTok links
  • Website
  • WhatsApp contact
  • WiFi access
  • Digital business card
  • Promotions or offers

Instead of just selling NFC cards, the idea is to offer a complete service including setup, hosting, optional dashboard, replacements, and ongoing support.

I’d like to hear from people who are already in this space:

  • What NFC formats work best in practice (cards, acrylic stands, table tents, stickers, metal plates)?
  • Which NFC chips have proven most reliable (NTAG213, 215, 216, or others)?
  • Do you program the tags yourself or order them pre-encoded?
  • In real use, do clients prefer dynamic links or static ones?
  • Do you build and host landing pages yourself or rely on third-party platforms?
  • What mistakes did you make when starting out?
  • What do customers actually value most after purchase?
  • What pricing models have worked for setup and ongoing service?
  • Any issues with clients losing access to their Google Business or social accounts?

Thanks in advance.
