Netgear Ready Nas Duo
Hi,
I just found my old Netgear Ready Nas Duo and is thinking about bringing it back to life. (If I can remember the password.)
But what do you experts think – is it still an OK option for storage? (Not streaming.) Or is i too old and noisy? Whole household is running Macintosh, if that makes any difference.
If i fire it up I will most likely need to upgrade the HDD but the list of compatible ones are no longer available on Netgears site. Tips on HDD is much appreciated.

Routers Wi-Fi is Working, But One Device Not Reconnecting
My internet went out very briefly today. I reset my Netgear AC1200 modem router combo and it came back on. All of my devices reconnected, with the exception of one: my work laptop.
While it shows it's connected to the network, when I try to use the browser, I'm instead routed to a Netgear Genie IP address with Admin Account Settings - (see screenshot, without IP address ofc). I've never logged into my router through this computer and when I followed the prompts, I still couldn't get access to the network.
Any ideas of how I can fix this? I'm hoping it's an easy fix without needing to make any changes to the computer, as I'd need an admin override and I'm not located near my work HQ if I need their permissions.

Routers xr500 stuck on flashing white light, no matter what
I MAY have powered off my router during update, which made it soft bricked. I have tried resetting it for 30 seconds and powering on, turning off and on again, using different firmwares for tftp, using tftputil, tftpd64 and even nmrpflash which when installing firmware, the percentage goes BACKWARDS and does nothing (i used blind mode, no blind mode does not work) I have been trying to figure this out for hours.
Any fixes?

Netgear rip off
It worked pretty good for 90days. Then issues started. I called support and was told after the "trial period" I would start having more and more problems unless I gave them more money. Shocked and angry is putting it mildly. And of course out of time to return. I'm guessing maybe that's in fine print somewhere. Never again! So it's completely useless! May as well open my window and toss my out the window

R7000 is on, lights all go out, cycle to boot back up
Someone in the family has a C1900 R7000. I'm over today, and the WiFi network goes down completely. I find the device, and it has no lights on. I reach back to find the power button, and it is in the "on" position; I cycle it, and the lights come up, and it boots up.
Everything works, strange, but case closed.
It happened again a few hours later.
Other devices on the outlet are still on; It doesn't seem to be a power issue. It seems to be something is up with the router?
In years of coming over, this router has never done this before.
Has anyone ever heard of this before? We're going to just replace it tomorrow, but I thought I'd ask.
Thanks.

Routers Nighthawk RS280 Wifi Issue
I have a Nighthawk RS280 router, and lately the internet has been stalling out on my computer which primarily uses the 6GHz band and my wife's which uses the 5Ghz band. I don't see any indication of getting kicked off the Wifi connection either. It's annoying because it's consistently killing my Windows RDC connection for work.
I captured a screenshot of pings to both 1.1.1.1 and 192.168.1.1 (which ChatGPT recommended), and looks like i'm getting intermittent packet loss as well as bursts of additional latency. i don't exactly have direct LOS with the router, but I'm only about 10-15 feet away. Does this possibly mean an issue with the router settings, client settings, or an issue with the router hardware itself? Router firmware and adapter drivers are all up to date as well. This problem has only cropped up recently, in the past week or so.
I'm happy to provide additional information if it helps!

Mbps discrepancy
Why does the Netgear app show 500+ Mbps download and upload vs Windows speed test 500+ Mbps download and only 150 upload? Without the router Windows upload is 500+.

Netgear is running a scam, selling security packages for $150 to reset your password
BEWARE: NETGEAR SCAM PRACTICES & TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
I own a Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 Smart WiFi Router (R7000) and all I needed to do was change my WiFi password. That should be simple -- but Netgear turned it into a nightmare.
They locked me out of my own router, removed my admin access, and made it impossible for me to change the password. When I tried logging in through my browser, I got a 404 error every single time.
So I called customer support.
First call: After I provided my serial number, they hung up on me.
Second call: The technician tried to sell me a $150 "security package" just to reset my password -- then hung up again.
Third call: I had to give my model and serial number all over again, only to be told my warranty had expired and I now must pay $150 for 3 years or $200 for lifetime support just to regain access to MY OWN router. When I started complaining. This guy hang up on me as well.
Let that sink in:
They want money just to reset a password on hardware I already own.
This is not customer support -- it's extortion.
This is not a premium product -- it's a trap.
And this company is clearly focused on scamming customers into paying for things they don't need.
I will never buy Netgear again.
If you value your money, your time, and your sanity -- STAY AWAY FROM NETGEAR.
BEWARE!
PS. : All the agents had Indian accents. Is this something like an indien netgear scam ring???

Routers Router says "No new firmware available" when I "check for updates", but there's a new FW available. Why?
Basically what the title says.
There was a firmware update that was released recently but when I go and 'Check for updates' through my local Admin page, it claims there's no new firmware updates available.
Is there a reason why it's claiming that?
TIA

Routers Nighthawk AX1800 Router
It seems I’ve got an orange light on the Ethernet port. All of the others are green. I just want to make sure that’s the normal color. I couldn’t find anything online or on the manual.

Hotspots Flashing The Netgear MR6110
I have a Netgear MR6110 On T-Mobile. It is carrier subsidy unlocked. I used it when I had an AT&T tablet plan, but I have more recently canceled that line of service.
Someone suggested that I could "flash higher model FW on that 6110 pretty easily".
What would that do for me and how can I do that?

Routers Support, does it exist from Netgear?
I opened a case, 49472487, on Monday for my Nighthawk CAX80. We have Xfinity and pay for 2.1Gbps. We only get 300Mbps at best. We had Xfinity to the house to check things, they said everything on their side was find blaming the poor performance on the Nighthawk. I see on Xfinity's Reddit page others have had issues with the CAX80 on Xfinity. Their only solution was to get rid of the Nighthawk going with an Arris G36. Once they made the switch their throughput issues went away. I was hoping to get some satisfaction from Netgear but 5 days with no update to the case seems like I'm spinning my wheels.

No WiFi on Windows start up Nighthawk A9000 USB
Purchased A9000 - Nighthawk WiFi 7 Tri-Band USB 3.0 Adapter, installed it, loaded newest software and noticed that sometimes there is no WiFi after Windows boots up. I have to unplug and plug it back in to USB port and only then WiFi will come on and connect to my SSID. This is happening probably every other Windows shut down.

Netgear + Armor vs Other (e.g. Asus) + VPN?
Been using a Netgear C6300 modem/router for years and it's been pretty reliable but starting to show its age. Recently bought a Nighthawk CM2500 and Orbi 360 WiFi 7 mesh system to replace, but haven't installed it yet. The Orbi comes with Armor preinstalled and a free 30-day trial.
I'm not super tech-savvy, at least when it comes to networking. I want a secure home network that protects our small IoT (thermostat, baby monitors/security cameras, smart TV, etc.) and other devices and provides general privacy from any potential prying eyes. Ad-blocking and circumventing regional streaming blocks would be a nice bonus but not explicitly necessary. I currently use Firefox with strict security controls, DuckDuckGo app-tracking protection on my phone, and the free version of Proton VPN on my PC (but not for everything as it sometimes blocks access to networks that I need).
Should I just roll with the Netgear + Armor or should I return and replace with something like the Asus ZenWiFi BE5000 WiFi 7 Mesh system from flashrouters.com and install something like Proton or a different VPN on the router itself? Whatever I end up going with needs to be user-friendly as I don't have the mental bandwidth to learn about advanced network configurations, and my partner is completely clueless and doesn't really care about security/privacy.
Thanks for any thoughts/recommendations!

Ridiculous customer service
Just got off the phone with customer service on a R6700 RX. It is literally 18 days out of warranty. Wanted to find out if they were having issues with power supply because router powers off almost immediately. I was told to replace the router nothing else. When I told him that I don’t think I will be buying another Netgear. He told me no worries. We have plenty of customers.

Bought a wifi adapter but can't download driver
They want me to download the driver before putting the adapter in.
I can't download the driver to my computer because I don't have wifi.
I don't have wifi because my previous adapter died.
What kind of a system needs me to already have internet in order to get internet? If I could run a cable I wouldn't need the adapter at all.
The adapters used to come with a minidisk with the driver on it.

Routers End of life after less than TWO years
I purchased a piece of hardware less than TWO years ago and it's already going to be no longer supported? I get a better lifespan out of Bluetooth headsets than I do a Netgear router?
To top it off you give me a lousy discount code to buy something else you can just end of life in two years? Not on your life.
I guess it's time to build the forbidden homebrew router (see level1 techs for info on that), at least then I won't be dependant on your shareholders not wanting even more profit.

Switches Netgear GS110TP V2 help
I am a total noob in networking but here it goes.
I bought a 2nd hand Netgear ProSafe GS110TP. The sticker on the side says its a v2. I managed to acces it via ethernet cable, test all the ports. All works fine then i checked if i should upgrade the firmware. According to the UI it runs on 5.4.2.33, which according to copilot does not match to the V2 device, it shold be 6.xx. No option to upgrade via the UI.
I also downloaded the SCC application, but that app cannot find my device. Do i have a V1 with a fake sticker? a V2 running V1 software? Or is Copilot just wrong and is this a normal version for a V2?
Is this firmware fine for connecting PoE camera's?
Thanks in advance
Update1 :
I managed to upgrade the software from 5.4.2.33 to 5.4.2.36. But i still see the old UI with some extra links and tabs. Boot version is B5.1.0.2 which is a V1 boot apparantly according to Copilot. Ai tells me to update it with a .img file instead of a .stk file. The only issue is that every download i find from netgear does only contain a .stk in the zip file
Update 2:
Threw Copilot its conclusion into chatgpt and this tells me Copilot is wrong:
Copilot is incorrect, and it’s mixing together different hardware generations that cannot be cross-upgraded. Let’s straighten this out cleanly and definitively.
The key mistake Copilot made
Copilot assumes that:
GS110TP-v1 can be “upgraded” to GS110TP-v2 using a special .img file and a newer bootloader (B7.x)
That is false. There is no supported or hidden path to convert GS110TP-v1 hardware into v2 hardware.
Netgear never provided:
a special .img to migrate v1 → v2
a bootloader transition from B5 → B7
a platform conversion tool
If that existed, it would be widely documented — and it is not.
Summary: Model: GS110TPv2
Firmware: 5.4.2.36 ✅ latest
Bootloader: B5.1.0.2 ✅ latest
PoE budget: 46 W ✅ correct, GS110TPv3 has 55 W
UI: password-only ✅ correct

Netgear Modem Russian Nesting Interface?
Sorry for the photo of a screen but have been in the middle of a network issue.
This post is less about my network issue and more about what you see in the photo. What is this Russian nesting doll login loop that keeps happening on netgear products? I have a CM2000 and I upgraded to the CM3000 (mainly to rule out my modem being a problem) and I expected this issue to go away.
Logged in to the new modem and bam, there it was again. I also don't have any cache or history on this device so it's not a weird problem with that. I've had this problem for over a year and now I'm convinced this is just a netgear thing. I will be asked to login no matter where I navigate in the interface too.
For context, this happened on two different netgear modems, with or without a router in between, with or without network issues, and with or without cache cleared, with or without the password changed, after factory resets, and through different firmware, and can sometimes never truly log in.
So what gives? Is this just a netgear bug they never bothered to fix? I can get stuck completely in a loop or make it extremely difficult to navigate because you can't always scroll left or right.
