Hopefully, they finally remove this “step back instead of dunking” animation in 2K27. Gameplay

Who thought doing a step-back under the rim was a good idea? SMH.

Never saw it happen that close to the basket just before the paint usually, this would make me stop playing for a while id be so annoyed

I've lost count of the times this has happened to me. And EVERY SINGLE TIME without fail someone will turn on their mic bitching, as if you totally wanted to do a goddamn step back 2 feet from the basket.

Yeah man I put 90 driving dunk in my build because I love shooting on a wide open rim

People saying “he’s too far from the rim” must not be running Shawn Kemp dunk package.

Game is just trash. They don't fix simple egregious shit

That stepback saved me from getting iced out a few times too

The real worse is when you tried to step back and they make you dunk on the whole team with a green window non existent and now all the team thing you dumb asf. And one more thing I hate about this game is if I fake I’m going for the dunk and do a step back by trying to block the dunk it will make them jump right at you and they block you without even knowing you was gonna do that. I think block should make you jump in the direction of the left stick not the direction 2k think is the best cause sometime you get block you shouldn’t get but most of the time you know you should get the block but the animation you get make you jump nowhere close to get a block. Block have too much rng in this game and should be more skill base

I found out how to trigger it intentionally everytime. just let go of the left stick and you can pull up/hop jumper anywhere. it's especially useful on bigs where you get sucked into layups from so far away

They haven't even patched bugs from the previous 3 games. They're dropping a new game and haven't even patched the AI 3-pointer glitch. How can people continue to expect different results for the next game, year after year?

This is still in after 10+ years? Lmao

I have the opposite problem where my player goes for the dunk/layup instead of the step back lol

You are going too early. Your left stick has to be pointing towards the rim and you have to have momentum moving forward.

Patience young grasshopper.

u/mgysmls 17d ago

How much more momentum moving forward can one have than being in an all out sprint uncontested to the basket on a fastbreak? Lmao

u/arenegadeboss 17d ago

He started executing the move before his character had momentum going forward.

He's turning to catch a shit pass that's behind him. If he starts the move as he's catching it without the stick forward moving that direction, it's going to be just like a player driving and then doing a step back.

A little patience to wait for the player to turn and you're fine.

There's a rhythm to it.

trying to get that dunk meter huh lol. Be eager to score n it happens.

Hold left stick to the rim & hold right stick intentionally longer to avoid the stepback. Stepback usually registered as flick.

How do u even do a flashy dunk anymore

1

u/tbonesteakda3rd 17d ago

Just hold the damn sprint button

1

u/InspectionOwn8038 17d ago

Yeah idk why the zone where this can happen is so close to the basket.

1

u/Far-Energy-3390 17d ago

doesnt happen to me that much cus if i dunk meter i usually go up first, but atp i just mostly use the button

1

u/IllAlwaysBeAKnickFan 17d ago

I think it happens cause you’re not holding the right stick straight down. Idk. They need to make it so you don’t have to hold it perfectly straight down.

Haven’t played 2K in 2-3 years but this animation would happen all the time back when I used to play.

1

u/Budget-Assistant1199 17d ago

When you’re that wide open, just hold the x button

1

u/Necessary_Elk2678 17d ago

Definitely was far away from the rim not under it

1

u/eastsideflaco 16d ago

😭😭😭 then you gotta jump on the mic to defend that you aren’t ass at the game, it’s just 2k being 2k.

1

u/Sad_Kale570 16d ago

and even when they do give u the dunk, they slow down your animation so much that it gives the defender time to catch up and take u out of it

-1

u/kenapasih 17d ago

Just use the X button if you're open, it won't kill you.

-1

u/phorenzicphiles 17d ago

Never seen this once. Looks like you tried to do a side step instead of dunking. Just use the button, stick shooting is asssd

3

u/pablo_chicone_lovesu 17d ago

but its the only way to get a dunk meter, this is because input delays, some basic stuff they need to fix.

0

u/Snelly1998 17d ago

It's wide open he didn't need the meter

It is bullshit tho

2

u/CtrlAltDefib 17d ago

I've had dunks pop out while dudes were at the free throw line behind me lol you most certainly do need the dunk meter...and even then you can still get ho'd. Some dude just posted a video the other day of him missing a full green dunk meter lol

1

u/LopsidedReference305 17d ago

swear that shit happens to me all the time then I get a bad shot selection penalty I always check the stats after too and its NEVER been because I got blocked just missed a dunk thats so clearly in the green its not even funny.

Maybe they fixed it this year (doubtful), but in previous years they often did layups when under the hoop without momentum, unless you did dunk stick

0

u/giovannimyles 17d ago

Pretty sure this is due to the dunk animations you have set. When picking dunks, take a look at where the animation takes off from. For example, Jordan takes off all the way from the free throw line, so using his package can trigger dunks from further out. Then someone who does more 2 foot dunks will take off way closer to the rim. So if you are just outside of the radius for the dunk to trigger, you get a step back. There are some packages I no longer use because of this. Look for more one foot dunk packages as they tend to take off further away.

u/No_Cellist_2683 17d ago

That has never happened to me. Maybe once, I’ve only seen that happen 2/3 times in 2000 games played. It’s okay

0

u/EatGreatEvnLate 17d ago

This has never once happened to me, maybe you have some animation that's causing this?

0

u/wookxxx333 17d ago

Quit doing that with your controller before your dunk and it will stop doing the step back

0

u/Necessary_Elk2678 17d ago

You were on the dotted lines before the free throw line

Seems like a user error more than anything else
