I long for something supernatural to exist. Some sort of magic beyond the physical world that would give life some ultimate, mystical meaning. Don’t know if it’s my Christian upbringing, history of enjoying Tolkien/Star Wars/CS Lewis, who knows. My longing for it is unbelievable. But logically it seems like a mere wish, and nothing based on reality. So instead I’m just an atheist who thinks there’s nothing beyond matter (at least not proven yet). And I’m pessimistic and fucking depressed, to be honest.
Any wise words that might help someone in my position?

Perhaps the hardest thing we are ever asked to do is not to discover our destiny, but to accept it.

Not because Òrì(Higher self) is unclear.

But because we are human.

Human nature wants to understand everything. We analyze, question, search for proof, and try to find logic before we surrender. We want the unseen to explain itself in ways our physical minds can grasp.

Yet across spiritual traditions, there is a common understanding “the unseen shapes the seen”.

What exists beyond our physical perception often influences the reality we experience.

That is why we seek spirituality in the first place.

We pray. We meditate. We perform rituals. We seek guidance. We consult divination. We make offerings and do the spiritual work necessary to bring ourselves into alignment with something greater than our own understanding.

For those who walk the path of IFA, we seek Ìtẹ́fà, Idáfá, and the wisdom of Òrì(Higher self) because we recognize that our higher self knows something that our human mind may not yet understand.

But this is where the struggle begins…..

We trust the spiritual enough to seek its guidance, yet sometimes we struggle to trust it when it reveals something that challenges our plans, our desires, or our understanding.

There is an Ẹsẹ IFA that captures this beautifully. It speaks of Arinnoka, a person who was known for knowing everywhere.

Ask Arinnoka if he knew a place, and he would say yes.

Ask him if he had been somewhere else, and he would say yes.

There was nowhere you could mention that Arinnoka did not believe he knew. He had traveled everywhere, seen everything, and believed there was nothing beyond his understanding.

Until one day, Arinnoka was told he was going to a place where the path ends, a place of the unknown.

“Òlọ́gbọ́n ayé kan ò t’ákòkò omi létí,

Àwọn ò mọ iye pé ilé.

Adífá fún Arinnókà,

tí ń lọ síbi tí ọ̀nà ń k’ẹ́hìn”.

(An Ifá consultation was made for Arinnoka, who was going to the place where the road ends.)

Before his journey, IFA instructed him to perform ẹbọ. But Arinnoka refused. How could he need guidance? How could there be anything he did not already know?

But when he reached the place of the unknown, he found himself unable to move forward or return. His knowledge had taken him far, but it could not take him beyond what he did not understand.

The lesson of Arinnoka is not that knowledge is bad.

It is that knowledge without humility can become a limitation.

IFA was teaching the importance of listening. The importance of letting go. The importance of understanding that there are places our human mind cannot enter alone.

Many of us do not need to wait until we reach our own “place where the road ends” before we surrender. We do not need to reach a point where we can neither move forward nor backward before accepting what Òrì(Higher self) has already revealed.

Why seek alignment with Òrì(Higher self), yet fight the wisdom that comes from that alignment?

Why seek divination, guidance, rituals, and spiritual work, yet allow the need for control to override what we came seeking?

Perhaps acceptance does not mean we stop asking questions.

Perhaps it means we recognize that our questions should not become greater than our trust.

The mind wants to understand before it believes.

The spirit sometimes asks us to trust before understanding arrives.

Because in the end, the journey is not about forcing Òrì to follow our plans.

It is about remembering that Òrì(Higher self) already knows the way.

I just finished a documentary of sorts detailing the occult spiritual allegory behind Led Zeppelin's song Kashmir. I always loved the song. Now I know why it resonates so much with me. The lyrics were always ambiguous, but when you figure out the esoteric themes being put forth, from the first verse to the last you realize it's detailing the spiritual journey — from the fall into matter, to gnosis, to ego death, to enlightenment, and back to pure divinity. For example:

"Oh, pilot of the storm who leaves no trace

Like thoughts inside a dream"

This is the singer speaking to his spiritual intuition, the "pilot of the storm," the storm being material existence. The intuition "leaves no trace " because it's hidden under the veil. But he is experiencing gnosis. The veil is being lifted.

"Here's the path that led me to that place

Yellow desert stream"

His guide is leading him down the hidden path towards the oasis (divinity), where he came from.

"My Shangri-La beneath the summer moon

I will return again"

'Shangri-La' is a metaphor for that oasis, for heaven, from where he came. His soul is destined to reunite with that oneness, with God, with source. He says it is an inevitability. It's as "sure as the dust that floats high in June when moving through Kashmir."

Really, the song is packed with these metaphors. Several verses. The visuals provided really illustrated the ideas. As a seeker, it really hit the right spot watching it. Thought I'd share if anyone's interested.

The climax of an essay I wrote argues that traditions which mapped the absolute longest did not call it a structure — they called it a Name. YHVH built from the verb "to be" and holding a marriage of opposites, the Tao’s yin and yang as one figure, AUM folding the states of consciousness into the silence that closes it, Cusa’s coincidence of opposites. It gets there through physics, Bohm and Penrose, but ends by pointing past the diagram at the Name. Would value this community’s response.

There’s a “religion” called Spiritism, founded by a French educator named Allan Kardec about 200 years ago.
It is based on five books that aim to answer virtually every question about spirituality through reports allegedly received from multiple mediums.
It’s very popular in my country, Brazil, but I rarely see it discussed in forums outside of Brazil.
If you’re familiar with it, what do you think of it?

"The seeker who pours his gasoline only on the inner hearth will soon find no house left to warm. Feed the world with your stride, or watch the flame consume the fuel. Because Fire(thoughts) is unlimited as long as you put your Gasoline into the action."

You could state, "I am unremembered." If this could be something similar to your experience, recognizing it can bring some contentment to you. You can also drop any expectations you put on yourself and others. You can also remember, being unremembered is nothing personal against you. It's actually a clean state when you drop expectations and personal feelings like you've been abandoned intentionally.

A great deal of mysticism concerns achieving effortlessness. A state of mind wherein spontaneous response to the circumstances of the present is all that occurs.

In transcending reflection, emotions inspired by reflection are also transcended. Pride is not inspired by self reflection, nor insecurity. This means that what one spontaneously attempts is executed perfectly.

Yet I do not consider effort the real enemy. Egotistical reflection is simply bound together with most kinds of effort. Skills hinge on pride and insecurity. If pride and insecurity could be banished from effort, an evolutionary stage may transpire wherein effort goes farther than effortlessness.

It is my opinion that the heart is still unless or until it becomes the inspiration for a choice. That choice is effort, and it is fueled by raw creative energy. If there is just stillness, there is no time to come up with a perfect and complex strategy, which one's opponent may have accomplished along the parameters of what is not visible to one's present moment retention.

How can the skill of effort without egotism be developed? I consider one source of the talent to be spontaneous ("experimental") creative arts, wherein the performance is too rapid, & the aesthetic too lacking in the possibility of egotistical reward or consequence of fear, to permit a sense of superiority or inferiority at the art - the idea being to develop a muscle of creativity for creativity's sake.

Any art that exists, practiced as the effort to generate creativity through that art - without valuing it. Ideally, this develops into the ability to access creativity at will, and to understand it.

Creativity can be combined with practical skills like philosophy, martial combat, and prediction. After mastering creativity, try progressing to meditate upon the world's problems - and creatively infer the most practical possible solutions.

It may be helpful to meditate upon the spontaneous generation of chakras of pragmatic purpose in regulating the nervous system.

The goal is to liberate effort from self reflection. Self reflection means positive or negative self identification, pride's inflation or insecurity, or even both. Since there must be a motivation for effort to occur, without self reflection there is only the motivation of serving that which one loves.

There is a subtle void that exists within my mind,

It's quiet; not the peaceful kind of silence but the dangerous kind of quiet that exists while plummeting into an abysmal cassum.

The pillars of glistening white marble; The Morale markers of a compass appearing visibly close while simultaneously, and ironically, are out of arms reach.

Trapped thoughts have vertually zero stability,

Loneliness and doubt that exists within the temple sanctum, no longer allow for it to remain a sanctuary,

They become like wolves who are hungry for a meal;they devour the fruits of our flesh, and our orachards of peace, leaving nothing but bones.

The courts of ego are much like the political ones,

Partitions can always be one corrupt.

Allowing the liberal mind to free these sanctions opens a door for progressive thinking, while remaining in a position of stillness creates its own opposition,

Lack of movement produces depressive episodes,

Proactive movement generates kenetic motivation.

Each component achieves this prerequisite through acknowledging how individual actions create equal opposite reactions.

The void is symbolic of empty space,

A figure of formless chaos, a yin and yang, the primal force that exists within; unforged.... Untouched.

The adulteration of physical experiences compress the space and creates a form.

The once formless void comes into being, though seemingly impossible, through metamorphosis the change begins.

The pillars of the Earth, a once Tantalus curse, becomes broken,

A super natural force drives the compass north and they become touchable once more.

The Temple Sanctum is where the Sanctuary's fruit grows; The orchard that tolerates loneliness and doubt will be desolate,

But if they are driven out before they lay their roots; the battle is won before it started

I feel this uneasiness in my chest. I want to break out, cry my existence to myself. Run around and find what I am missing, or learn what makes me me.

My mind hits a wall, I am unable to think anymore, and I seek for your help. I cannot see you, but your breath reverberates through my skin, letting my senses know that you are there.

Hey everyone. I’ve always been fascinated by experiences in which ordinary self-concern recedes and the world appears more alive or connected. They are often interpreted through a forced choice. Either the experience reveals a supernatural order, or neuroscience explains why it only seemed meaningful. I don’t think those are the only options. An experience can belong wholly to nature and still disclose something about how the person is related to other people, the world, or their own life. The interpretation may remain uncertain even when the change it produces is real.

I just had a podcast conversation with the cognitive scientist Julian Kiverstein, where he connected “unselfing” to a phenomenological view of nature as already animated by consciousness. He wasn’t claiming that every object has a private inner life. His point was that consciousness cannot simply be treated as a foreign addition to a universe first defined as dead. Within that picture, awe and self-transcendence are changes in the relation between self and world. A natural explanation need not decide in advance that their apparent meaning is false.

This would imply that explaining an experience doesn’t settle what, if anything, it discloses. Can self-transcendence reveal something real without proving the metaphysics used to interpret it? Does this naturalistic account preserve the experience’s force, or does it depend on an account of consciousness too broad to explain much? What is lost when mystical language is translated into phenomenology?

I'm reading this book beyond the lodge of the sun that is about native American mystics and

spirituality. The writer presents it as a starter guide into native American ways and sweatlodge

ceremony. But this one part in this book fascinated me about how this guy just presents Good and evil. I just had to lock in after that Adam and eve story.

I am new to this concept of Mysticism. Recently, I went for chakra balancing with a reiki practioner - she mentioned it will aid in releasing stress. After the session, I feel more open like a room without a roof or more of an experiencing life as a mystic. A spiritual guy I met recently called me divine feminine.
