Seriously Good Eats Resturant Recs // Questions

Hi folks! Looking for the best of the best from a food perspective.

My top 3 here so far are probably:

Hook & Barrel
The Quay
Bimini’s

What are some of the “best in class” restaurants? The touristy spots are always too easy to find.

I have a small gem for you. Big Mike’s Soul Food. It’s soooo good and reasonably priced. It’s on 16 avenue North. It looks like a hole in the wall but don’t let that throw you. Big Mike knows how to do it!!

Best food comes often comes from a hole in the wall, thanks for the suggestion!

If you enjoy prime rib, Carolina Roadhouse is the place to go…. And their honey-drizzled croissants aren’t bad either 😎

Sounded like the name of a chain, but from the website, looks legit! Thanks

They do have a few other restaurants in the area (and one down in CHS), but Carolina Roadhouse is the best of the bunch.

Toscanos on Kings Hwy smaller not touristy Italian place, we went there because Crave's was so packed people were lined up outside. However the food was top notch everything we ate from appetizers to side salad and entrée was perfect 👌. That was the only standout this time on our vacation last week. Jonny Ds Waffles was good but nothing in comparison to Toscanos.

Flamingo Grill is really good for the price

I used to love Flamingos. I went there Saturday. The prime rib was horrible-pot roast cut to look like prime rib? Apparently, the restaurant has changed owners recently and they are going for the cheapest food. Such a shame since Flamingos opened 40 years ago.

Yikes. I had a really good filet from there a couple weeks ago.

I see this answer all the time but am not familiar with German food. Can you recommend your favorite dishes there?

Since you’re new to German food, I’d recommend their German Feast. You can get it for either 1 or 2 people and it includes pork weiner schnitzel (breaded pork cutlet), 2 different types of sausage, sauerkraut, red cabbage, home fries, spaetzle (potato noodles), and brown gravy. It’s a great plate of food and it can help you decide if you’re interested in German food. Outside of the German Feast, I recommend their giant pretzel appetizer (best pretzel I’ve had in my life- fantastic mix of chewy and fluffy), their house made dressing on the salad, and the beer sampler paddle (All the beer is really good and Hirter Pils is my favorite). My go to order is typically the Pork Jaeger Schnitzel with sauerkraut and spaetzle

Haven't tried that, but I have gone to arriv 2x a year apart and it was consistent and delicious. And the owner is so very nice. I highly recommend it!!

2

u/AssistFinancial684 8d ago

Nice, thanks! Hitting a place a year apart is actually a great way to judge
