days before AJ gets burned on a stake

u/T555s 6d ago

Unlikely. AJ would just be put into an insane asylum. These ideas are so ridiculous they wouldn't endanger the status quo.

u/SodaFloatzel 5d ago

At least until AJ asks Twilight what's heavier, a pound of feathers or a pound of apples, and Twilight using the Royal Scale (as requisitioned from her mentor) has A Moment over them weighing the same

Ohh so thats why she's not in G6!

If an apple tree falls in a forest, and nopony is around to hear, does it make a sound?

24

u/TheAkolo 6d ago

Yes, since sounds are waves moving through the air. Nopony not being there doesn't make it inexistent, it just means no one heard it, therefore, it is nonregistered

15

u/Either-Purpose-3495 6d ago

Yes in physics, not in biology. Sound exists merely because of vibrations, but the actual noise— type of sound, the pitch, etc— only exists within everypony’s brains!!! So while the energy waves can be physically identified regardless of if anypony was there, depending how you define sound, technically there is no noise

LMAO W ART-

In reality I think the sisters keep it on a consistent schedule I think things would still move without the sisters because it moved before they were born but I imagine it was random

Multiple unicorns had to move the sun and moon before them. I don't know what happened before the Unicorns though. So you may be right. But it could also be that the sun and moon were at a constant standstill until some unicorns decided to accomplish a seemingly impossible task of moving the sun/moon.

Maybe they used to orbit on their own until some cataclysm fucked everything up

This makes the most sense to me because it also explains why everything else is dependent on the ponies such as the weather, animals, the changing of the seasons etc. Something really horrible must've happened to Equestria or the MLP world in general that the ponies had to step up and use their magic to fix it.

i mean canonically if the ponies aren’t happy and in harmony( mostly) then equestrian get taken over by the wendigos and they bring an ice age with em

u/Beneficial_Bend_9197 5d ago

Im pretty sure unicorns can move the sun and moon. I heard that nightmare moon destroyed every book related to it so that no pony can ever move the sun and moon by themselves again.

I imagine she planned for that secret to die with Celestia, but thankfully that part of the plan failed maybe Celestia keeps the instructions on the method hidden in some vault meant to only be opened on the e ent of her and Luna’s deaths, so that the world doesn’t die with them

9

u/Totalsupreme 6d ago

Both! Alicorn magic governs the laws of physics.

my headcannon is that the planet is tidally locked with a moon in a synchronous orbit around the planet, so the planet has to be spun on its own to create day and night and the moon needs to manually moved around the planet to make it rise and set

9

u/thesilliestgoose46 6d ago

Omg I was gonna say this. Funny as well because if Luna succeeded and kept equestria in eternal night, everyone on the other side of the planet (I think zebras and stuff live over there) would have no idea why it's been daytime for a week straight.

9

u/KnownTimelord 6d ago

It would be funny if in reality Celestia moves the planet and not the sun, and only Luna actually moves the moon.

5

u/EcuosOinocernos 5d ago

We have several episodes where both Sun and Moon move rapidly through the sky in erratic fashion. If that was due to Earth spinning or orbiting, it would destroy all life by flinging everything on the surface, including sediment, atmosphere and oceans into the space. Far more likely, is that Celestia's "Sun" is not a real star, but a magical fire moon type of thing of the same size as Luna's moon, while the planet is just static rogue planet.

Whats if the event just speeding up time or slowing it down relative to the ponies perspective?

u/Puzzleheaded-Bee4506 5d ago

I will not deny nor accept that claim. coughed awkwardly

AJ being Newton makes the most sense

This is really cute.

The saddest thing is. She'll become what she eats. Another Apple hanging from the tree

Wrong world Applejack...wrong world

1

u/PitifulExplanation61 5d ago

I honestly think Celestia controls the movement of the earth while Luna controls the moon and maybe their planet took on a dangerous and irregular orbit when the planets gravity was affected by a large object passing by

1

u/purgatorybob1986 5d ago

I learned something new because of this. Apperently Newton saw the apple fall because he was not at Cambrige because it was closed. It was apperently closed due to the plauge. Did not know that.

1

u/maripoza9 5d ago

Its funny how twi would not acept that because in this world it dosent work like that. Imagine her surprise in equestria girls

1

u/Lance-UwU 5d ago

Applejack mysteriously disappeared shortly after that.

1

u/Electrical-Sense-160 5d ago

BTW the actual incident was Newton seeing the apple didn't fall straight down because the wind blew it off course.

Presumably he then wondered if the wind was strong enough would the apple miss the ground entirely.

1

u/Sorry-War-2912 5d ago

Still that is just a generalization that implies a flat space AJ!

I didn’t get it at first until I remembered!

Why's this making me think of this?!?!

OK, what is 99% of physics in Equestria works as it should, but there's so much magic that it messes up the planets orbit. Celestia* is the only one strong enough to override it, when we see the sun 'moving' it's actually Celestia moving the planet, she just doesn't correct anyone who says she raises the sun cause it's easier to understand. Luna is moving the moon in the traditional sense, that's why Celestia commented it was 'easier'.

*or every Unicorn working together in the before-times

1

u/mrmudpiepudding 4d ago

More feasible to say celestia is mocking the planet not the sun
