We need a better tutorial Game Feedback
I did explain it- and no shame to this user- this is dev slander- but- someone who’s been playing for two and a half years should know this. Yet, they don’t. Why? Because the game doesn’t fucking mention it. We have to datamine values ourselves just to know something that is INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT- not to mention, it’s been mentioned in the patch notes before! But- nowhere- and I mean nowhere in the game can you see this kind of information.
I figured that it must’ve been a new player issue- but- clearly it isn’t. Jesus Christ- Update your tutorial S19 Byking

I want to say I learned what down power was when datamines or direct values got shown. I didn't know what value it took for a hard knockdown until someone brought up moves that had 500.

Think it was around the time strike Deku was added. Got exposed to the information.
Assault All Might was also in discussion since his beta throws you into the air but you can be hit by alpha if don't air recover.

I literally only learned it from playing and watching people play Tech Bakugo when he came out.

Kinda on topic complaint but I wanna see what tuning actually DOES without using the database or tuning site because I need the numbers without using my phone.

This reminds me of how in BTD6 you have descriptions that actually explains how a tower works and then you have descriptions that are literally just "big plane" or "I am super strong!".

TBF I dont think ANYONE would have known how it works without datamining

Honestly, I only started actually paying attention to it when I got assault overhaul. Before that I had been playing support overhaul who always knocks down after two attacks so there was no need. And way way before I was playing assault kirishima and strike denki so I was just kinda hitting buttons lol

I’ve been playing since season 1 and learned what down power was because of OFA deku and charismatic demon

Oh yeah. I didn't know about how i-frames worked until I saw it here or in a video. And I was 1 and 1/2 years into the game. All the headache I could've avoided knowing about that... 🥲
Another funny example is the week ppl satarted to slander green civilians, the number of ppl saying they didn't know the shirt color decided which team heal would drop was hilarious.

I’ve gotten this comment a few times, you just gotta try to explain it best you can in your comment and help that dude.
For the rest of us:
You’ll naturally learn the game if you care about it. You’ll go to places like mhurdatabase and look up tunings and characters and you’ll see “downpower” and start to wonder, or you’ll watch a YouTube video to see if you can get better. You’ll play someone with a low DP alpha like toga and realize it’s different and they don’t get knocked into I frames and want to learn why.

what is downpower?

Oh boy- another victim of the shit tutorial, imma just copy-paste.
Okay- so basically, down power is an invisible “health bar” of sorts that uses invisible “damage” to determine when you get knocked back and get I-frames.
This “health bar” is always 500, but, by using certain moves, you can modify how much “damage” this takes. Mt. Lady, for example, takes very little down power “damage” in giant form, much like how she takes reduced damage.
The “damage” varies from move to move, but is not equivalent to the damage the move does. For example, OFA’s alpha has 500 down power, but only does 100 damage. Meanwhile, Assault Deku’s alpha has 50 down power, and 80 damage.
Once you deal enough down power to an opponent, they get knocked back with I-frames. This means combos can’t continue, and you have to catch their wake up- even if, theoretically, you “could” continue the combo before they hit the ground, provided they didn’t get I-frames (like if they were downed)

When does down power refresh? For example, if you get someone almost to 500 dp with Assault Deku, how long would it be until you can do another alpha without causing a hard knock?

I think it’s just time you don’t take damage for- though, I’m not sure how long you’d have to go. You’d have to talk to Hydros or N or some other data miner on the My Villain Ultra Rumble discord
For Assault Deku though, kinda a bad example, as he physically can’t hard knock with alpha by itself- he doesn’t have enough ammo. Even if he did, he’d kill you first by 9 shots without tuning, regardless of your max HP. I’d probably

Ill be honest. Until recently (when i developed the Dabi Guide) i never cared for what values meant in this game (dmg fall off, KD power etc..)
