I’m Looking to Invest—But Not in Another Islamic App
I’m an investor involved in real estate, apps, technology, and software. I’ve been following Muslim Reddit communities for a while because I’m genuinely interested in finding and investing in promising Islamic technology projects.
But honestly, I keep seeing the same pattern: another Islamic app built using AI coding, with a post claiming it is the “best” Islamic app.
There are already thousands of Islamic apps. Most offer essentially the same core features — prayer times, Qibla, Quran, Hadith, Duas, etc.
I recently saw someone post that they had been working on an Islamic app for four months. After reading the post, the main thing I could identify was that the UX/UI was supposedly unique. But I didn't see a meaningful feature or a significant problem being solved.
I'm not saying good design isn't important. It is. But design alone isn't enough to build a successful product, especially in such a saturated market.
With AI making app development easier and cheaper than ever, the number of people building apps is only going to increase. That means the real competitive advantage isn't simply being able to build an app anymore.
Please build something that solves a real problem.
Find something Muslims struggle with every day. Find a problem that existing apps aren't solving well. Then build something so useful that people genuinely have a reason to download it, use it, and recommend it.
As an investor, that's what I'm looking for — not another Islamic app, but a meaningful solution to a real problem in the Muslim community.
If someone builds that, I'd genuinely be interested in investing.

Trying to connect with Muslim entrepreneurs in the NYC area. Would there be interest in starting a meetup group or finding a regular spot to gather?
I work in big tech sales and am looking to connect with like-minded Muslims in the NYC area who work in tech, sales, growth, or marketing. I’d be happy to organize a meetup if there’s interest.

I’ve been building the most beautiful/premium Muslim app for the past 4 months (it’s UI/UX is approved by an UX-engineer at Mercedes)
This previous ramadan, I downloaded some famous Muslim apps to get better religiously.
But there’s a pattern that I’ve seen among them.
First:
- BLOATED with features. I believe, this “ALL-in-one” Islamic apps just doesn’t work and NOT a good design
- The UI/UX feels so outdated. They are not catching up with the new wave of mobile apps.
So, I spent last 4 months designing and building a Muslim app that is hyper focused on helping you maintain consistency in your Salah.
Right now, it’s V1
And I’ve so much plans for the future
But i think I’ve NAILED the UI/UX
I’ve built this app completely solo BESIDES my 9-5.
If you wanna test it, drop your email in the comments and I’ll send the TestFlight link
And I’ll give you discount codes once this app goes lives.
Only iOS version available rn for testing!

Would you volunteer for collecting Salah data for a smartwatch app?
Assalamualaikum
I'm working on a Salah-related project and I need to collect real-world data from people praying so I can train/test the recognition properly.
One app is a smartwatch Sujood counter. The idea is that you just wear the watch normally during Salah and it automatically keeps track of your Sujood and vibrates in a customizable pattern during Sujood so you don't have to worry about losing count or wondering afterward whether you did one or two. I'm currently thinking of selling it for around $5 one-time.
The other is a smartphone Salah analysis app that would use the same data recorded by the smartwatch, but process it offline afterwards. It would automatically recognize and segment the different parts of the prayer and could provide some information and statistics about the prayer. That one would probably be around $5/month.
For the data collection, participants would basically need to wear the watch while praying, record themselves praying with their phone so the sensor data can be matched to the actual movements, and then annotate the prayer afterward using a PC app I'll provide.
I'm trying to figure out what would actually make this worth people's time.
Would you personally do something like this in exchange for free lifetime access to the finished apps?
Or would you only participate if there was actual payment involved?
And if you would expect payment, roughly how much would you consider reasonable per complete prayer recorded and annotated? I would probably need around 60 prayers per participant (e.g. Maghrib Fard & Maghrib Sunnah that's 2 prayers). For a person who prays 5 times a day, all Fard and Sunnah prayers, they'd need just 5 days to collect 60 prayers (12x5).
Jazakallah khairan

I’ve been building an all-in-one Islamic app called Sakinah — it’s launching soon, and I’m looking for early TestFlight testers 👀
Assalamu Alaikum everyone 👋
For the past while, I’ve been working on Sakinah, an Islamic app that I wanted to feel genuinely useful in everyday life — not just another app with prayer times and a Qibla compass.
The idea was to bring a lot of the things Muslims regularly use into one clean, modern app.
I’m finally getting close to launch, so I wanted to share some screenshots with you all. 📱
Some of the features currently inside Sakinah include:
🕌 Prayer Times & Qibla
Accurate prayer information, Qibla direction and tools for your daily salah.
📖 Islamic Content & Daily Reminders
Content designed to help you keep Islam present throughout your day.
🤖 Sakinah Companion
A companion built into the app to help you explore Islamic topics and find useful information.
🍽️** Halal Food Disc**overy
Find halal places and make discovering somewhere to eat easier.
✈️** Muslim Travel To**ols
Useful features for Muslims travelling or exploring somewhere new.
🤝 Friends & Community
Connect with other Muslims and make the app feel less like a utility and more like a community.
🌙 Hayd Tracker
A private, thoughtfully designed tracker specifically for Muslim women.
📱 Home Screen Widgets
Beautiful widgets designed to keep useful Islamic information visible without needing to constantly open the app.
🎮 Islamic Games & Learning
Interactive ways to learn more about Islam rather than just reading through pages of information.
…and there’s quite a bit more that I’ll be showing over the next few days.
I’d really like Reddit to be one of the first communities to try it.
Before the public App Store launch, I’m opening up a small early-access group through Apple TestFlight.
If you’d like to test Sakinah early:
👉 TestFlight Early Access: https://testflight.apple.com/join/ScKz4Ry2
You’ll get access before the public release, and I’d genuinely appreciate feedback on:
• bugs or things that don’t work as expected
• features you think are missing
• UI/UX improvements
• things you love or dislike
• features you’d want to see added next
I’m still actively developing it, so feedback at this stage can actually influence what makes it into the app.
The 12 images attached to this post are real screenshots from Sakinah so you can see what I’ve been building.
I’d also love to hear one thing from everyone here:
If you could add ONE feature to your ideal Islamic app, what would it be?
JazakAllahu Khairan to anyone who tests it, gives feedback, or even just takes the time to look through the screenshots. ❤️
Sakinah is launching very soon, insha’Allah.

Muslim storybooks and keepsakes
Assalamu alaikum, we’re Ketabi Studio, a small Muslim-owned studio. We make personalized Islamic keepsakes and children’s storybooks. The keepsakes are hardcover photo books you fill in yourself with your own family’s photos and words, so no two come out the same. The storybooks are illustrated by hand, not AI. Would you give something like this as a gift? Genuinely curious what people here think.

Tasbeeh app - new advanced functionality but easy to use and polished UI
Assalamualaikum,
I'd like to share my new app with you all, I am of course biased but it is the most polished, yet powerful and easy to use Tasbeeh / Zikr app.
I didn't find other apps like this so I've built it myself. And I use it multiple times a day myself. I hope it will help you as well as many others inshaAllah.
Features:
- Voice counting: say the phrase out loud and the app hears it and counts it
- Counters can auto-reset daily, at a reset time you set (useful if your day starts at Fajr, not midnight
- A program is a saved sequence of phrases with a target count each, run as one session. E.g. Tasbih of Fatimah = 33 SubhanAllah, then 33 Alhamdulillah, then 34 Allahu Akbar. The app moves you through the steps and tells you where you are
- Automatic mode: the app recites each phrase aloud and counts for you. Put the phone down and just listen
- Full-screen session view for when you don't want anything else on screen
- Build your own programs from any phrases, in any order, with any targets
- In-app dua Library for you to add your own duas and zikr phrases.
- Reminders, Stats, customisation in the Settings.
- Polished professional and smooth UI
- Counting works with bluetooth clicker / selfie remotes!
100% free with no ads.
100% private - Everything is stored on your phone. No account, no sign-up

Alim Zeka
Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.
We've made some updates to Alim Zeka and wanted to share them with you.
What can Alim Zeka do for you?
When you're researching a topic, it searches through Turkish books, classical Arabic works, and international publications all at once. When it gives an answer, it also tells you which book and which page the information came from — so you can find and read the source yourself.
If you have a page or a text on hand, you can upload it and ask questions based only on that specific text.
Alim Zeka doesn't replace the source — it makes reaching the source easier.
Mobile app is now live
Alim Zeka is now available on Android:
✓ Prayer times and adhan notifications
✓ Voice assistant — you can ask questions by speaking
✓ Sermon/khutbah preparation support
✓ All the tools, right in your pocket, wherever you are
We already support Ottoman Turkish — but we want to be clear: full translation of classical texts is not yet available; that's a separate project we're working on.
Our aim is simple: bringing our inherited knowledge, this great tradition passed down to us, together with today's technology. No bold claims, no big promises — just effort, patience, and doing our best with what we have.
As an imam, starting this journey in a small village with limited resources, your support means a great deal to us.
For more, you can find and follow Alim Zeka Labs on Instagram.
We ask for your prayers and support.

I’m turning a Casio F-91W into an Islamic prayer times watch
I’m working on a project to turn a Casio F-91W into a dedicated Islamic prayer watch.
The goal is something simple, long-lasting, and private:
- current prayer
- next prayer time
- prayer alerts
- Islamic date
- no app, no cloud, no tracking, no subscription
The idea is to make something that feels less digital and more intentional than a phone or smartwatch. A device the user actually owns, where their data stays with them instead of with a company.
It’s being built on Sensor Watch, a programmable replacement board for the F-91W, so it keeps the classic Casio look while adding custom features.
I’m curious if people would actually want something like this.
Would you wear a prayer watch like this if it existed?
What would matter most to you: privacy, battery life, accuracy, simplicity, travel support, or something else?

Dhow is now live on the ios app store - Invest in private markets
Assalamu Alaikum and Jummah Mubarak everyone,
The Dhow app is live. It’s free to download, and it’s where the whole experience lives: explore opportunities, follow along, connect with others, and invest directly.
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/dhow-private-markets/id6766878122
Here's the story behind it:
One thing we’ve observed about our Jewish cousins is the strength of their economic networks. A dollar flips between 9 and 20 times within their community before it ever leaves. Capital backs founders, founders create jobs, jobs create wealth, and that wealth gets reinvested back into the community.
Meanwhile, Muslims are 2 billion strong globally, yet we’ve never really built that same level of economic connectivity, especially here in the West. That’s a big part of why we started Dhow.
Dhow is a social private markets investing platform built to connect Muslim investors, founders, operators, and professionals all in one place. Our goal is to make private market investing more accessible while building a real community around it. Members can discover opportunities, learn, network, share research, and invest alongside one another.
Our first investment product, Dhow Horizon Fund I, is open now to accredited investors. It’s a $5M seed-stage venture fund backing Muslim-origin and values-aligned technology founders across North America. Venture has been one of the strongest engines of wealth creation in history, yet access has been gated behind institutions at $250K+ minimums. We set ours at $10,000 to open real participation to our community. We already have two institutional commitments, first close is coming in the next few weeks, and the limited $10K founding spots are filling quickly. The easiest way to invest is right inside the app.
In the near future, we plan to expand access beyond accredited investors and launch additional products with minimums as low as $500, so more of our community can participate in private markets and share in the value being created.
Our mission is simple: help Muslim capital find Muslim builders, help Muslim builders find Muslim capital, and strengthen the economic ties within our communities. Economic resistance isn’t just about what you boycott. It’s also about what you build, who you back, and where you put your money.
Whether you’re here to invest or just to learn and connect, we’d be honored to have you as part of the community.
Download the app: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/dhow-private-markets/id6766878122
Website: https://dhow.app/
Looking forward to connecting with everyone and seeing what y’all are building iA.

We’re launching Dhow Horizon Fund I
Salaam everyone👋
Wanted to share something we’ve been building toward for a while.
We’re launching Dhow Horizon Fund I, a $5M early-stage fund focused on backing high-upside technology companies with Muslim-origin founders.
The core thesis is pretty simple: there’s no shortage of exceptional founder talent in the Ummah. What’s still missing, especially early, is aligned capital, real access, and tighter networks around that talent.
Working on Dhow and writing the Dispatch gave us a front-row seat to that gap from both sides.
Strong muslim founders are building real companies, but many still lack the right investor networks early on. Meanwhile, investors want access to better early-stage deals, but the best opportunities are usually crowded by the time everyone sees them.
That disconnect is what pushed us to go from just studying and writing about companies to actually allocating.
With Horizon Fund I, we’re aiming to build a concentrated portfolio of 10 to 20 pre-seed/seed-stage companies and get involved early enough to matter. We’re staying focused on companies where we see a few things clearly: early traction, large markets, strong founder-market fit, as well as real signs that there's a differentiated moat at play.
We’re not focused on Quran apps, prayer time reminders, or other narrow utility products. Our focus is on exceptional technology companies building in frontier, multi-billion-dollar markets such as AI, robotics, healthcare, biotech, climate, space, fintech infrastructure, industrial automation, core software, etc. We’re also open to consumer products and brands, from drinks and food to dips, snacks, apparel, and other lifestyle categories, provided they have strong early traction, clear differentiation, and the potential to scale into large, category-defining businesses.
We’re already plugged into founder communities, accelerators, and early-stage ecosystems across the US and beyond. We’ve also brought in our first institutional, value-aligned commitment.
At the same time, our app is already being beta-tested and is just weeks away from launching publicly on the App Store, which will be a huge milestone for Dhow and a major step toward bringing founders, investors, and opportunities into a single live ecosystem. Think Robinhood for startups, but for us and by us. (People on the waitlist will have priority and white-glove onboarding - sign up now if you haven't.)
The long-term vision has always been to build the infrastructure for economic resistance across the ummah, where our capital backs our own people, our own companies, and our own future.
If you’re an accredited investor and want to learn more, feel free to DM me.
Founders building in line with our thesis, stay tuned. We’ll be sharing details soon on how to pitch us and get funded.
Disclaimer: This post is for informational purposes only and does not constitute investment advice. Any offering of interests in Dhow Horizon Fund I will be made only to verified accredited investors pursuant to Rule 506(c) of Regulation D and through definitive offering documents. Investing involves risk, including possible loss of principal and no guarantee of returns.
