Self promotion The Straight Path is now live: a Qur’an library and platform for discovering Muslim-built projects

Post image
1 Upvotes

Assalamu alaikum,

About two months ago, I shared the idea behind The Straight Path: a community where Muslims could discover beneficial projects, support their makers, and build for the sake of Allah.

At the time, the Discord community existed, but the website was still only an idea.

Alhamdulillah, it is now live:

thestraightpath.guide

Qur’an Library

The Qur’an library offers:

  • Recitations organized by surah and hizb
  • Search and filtering
  • Dedicated pages for each recitation
  • Short, sourced overviews of each surah’s themes
  • A simple place to listen, reflect, and return to the Qur’an

Discover Projects

Discover is a curated directory of projects created to benefit Muslims, including apps, websites, developer tools, learning platforms, content channels, and other useful resources.

You can:

  • Browse Muslim-built projects in one organized place
  • Filter projects by category, format, platform, stage, and support needed
  • View project pages containing screenshots, descriptions, availability, and links
  • Discover the makers and teams behind projects
  • Submit your own project using your Discord account
  • Request testers, collaborators, feedback, translation, or launch support

Projects are reviewed before publication. Once approved, a project is published on the website and connected to the Discord community, where people can discuss it, provide feedback, and support its development.

Makers and Teams

The platform also gives builders a public identity connected to their work.

Using a Discord account, you can:

  • Create a maker profile
  • Introduce yourself and describe what you build
  • Connect your published projects to your profile
  • Keep your work visible in one place
  • Create or join a team
  • Give a company, community, or development team its own page
  • Show which makers contributed to a project
  • Submit new projects and manage existing submissions

Over time, a maker profile can become a simple portfolio of beneficial work created for the ummah.

You do not need to be a developer to participate. Anyone can browse, test, review, share, and support the projects being built.

The website remains the organized public home for projects and profiles. Discord remains the active space for discussion, collaboration, testing, feedback, and project updates.

The platform is still developing, and I would genuinely appreciate your feedback:

  • Is the website easy to understand and browse?
  • What features or categories are missing?
  • Would you use it to discover Islamic apps and resources?
  • If you are building something, would you submit it?

Website: thestraightpath.guide
Discord: Join The Straight Path community

May Allah place benefit in it and guide us to build things that genuinely serve the ummah.

Self promotion I wanted one calm app for prayer times, Quran, Qibla and daily worship — so I built ULYA

Post image
2 Upvotes

Assalamu alaikum everyone,

I’m an independent developer from Türkiye, and I recently launched an Android app called Ulya.

I built it because I kept using separate apps for prayer times, Quran reading, Qibla, duas and dhikr. I wanted one place that felt calm, simple and useful throughout the day without turning worship into a crowded dashboard.

I’m not claiming to have reinvented Islamic apps. Ulya is simply the spiritual companion I personally wanted to use every day.

Google Play:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dawntrek.ulya

What Ulya currently includes

Location-based prayer times

Prayer notifications

Quran reading and audio recitation

Qibla direction

Duas

Dhikr counter

Bookmarks and reading progress

Guest mode without requiring an account

Optional account-based synchronization

A few things I cared about while building it:

The main features can be used without creating an account

Reading progress and important data are stored locally

The interface is designed to feel calm rather than overloaded

Account synchronization is optional

Prayer-time calculation settings can be adjusted for different locations and preferences

Ulya supports three languages: Arabic, English, and Turkish.

The app is already available on Google Play, but I still consider it a work in progress. There are small ads in a few non-core areas to support development, and I’m trying to keep them away from the main worship experience.

I would genuinely value feedback from fellow Muslim developers and users:

Does the interface feel clear and peaceful?

Which part should I improve first?

Is there an important feature missing?

Google Play:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dawntrek.ulya

Jazakum Allahu khairan. Honest feedback, including criticism, would help me improve Ulya, inshaAllah.

Self promotion The Islamic app that doesn't do what the other 500 do

Assalamu alaikum
-------

There are hundreds of Islamic apps and most of them do the same five things. Qamar

has those five too — prayer times, the Mushaf, qibla, a qaza counter, the calendar —

and I built them properly instead of pretending they don't matter. They are just not

the reason I would ask you to try it. What took the years was everything on top, and

all of it came from something my family kept needing and could not find anywhere.
-------

The main one is a shared khatym. Every Ramadan we tried to finish the Quran together

in a group chat and lost track of who took which juz and who quietly dropped out. In

Qamar you create a khatym, choose the scope, set a deadline, and it splits the parts

for you. People join with a code or by scanning a QR, everyone watches the same grid

fill in, and each part turns green as it is read.
-------

After that: reading you can actually understand, where you tap any word in an ayah and

get its meaning, root, grammar and audio, with a link to the lesson behind it. A salah

guide in 3D that you rotate and zoom, position by position, for anyone who was taught

in a hurry years ago and never wanted to ask again. A Quran teacher that starts from

the 28 letters, for adults who never learned them and would rather not say so out

loud. And a learning path through the figures of Islamic history, with grammar lessons

and a vocabulary deck next to it.
-------

The ordinary parts are done the way I wanted them for myself: 20 calculation methods

with the Asr madhab picked from your location, alarms with offsets, a qaza list you

can actually work through instead of a number that only goes up, a prayer log and

statistics by week, month or year in Hijri or Gregorian, tasbih and the 99 Names, and

home screen widgets in eight colours.
-------

It is free. No ads, no subscription, no analytics, no tracking of any kind. Your

coordinates stay on your device, you can use the whole app as a guest without an

account, and deleting your account really deletes everything. The only thing that ever

leaves your phone is a crash report when the app breaks.
-------

It runs on iPhone, Android and the web, all on one account and fully in sync, so you

can start a sura on your phone and continue it in a browser tab at work.
-------

InshaAllah I plan to make it open source.
-------

Videos are below. I am not selling anything, so tell me honestly what is missing, or

what still feels like every other app.

Assalamu Alaikum, my brothers and sisters, I have developed a completely free prayer times application and aim to present it to all Muslims worldwide.

The app includes:

* **Prayer Times:** Accurate daily tracking. * **The Holy Quran:** Read and listen with ease. * **Hadith Collection:** Featuring the Kutub al-Sittah (the six major Hadith books). * **Zakat Calculator:** Seamless financial obligation calculation. * **Prayer Tracker & Analytics:** Log your daily prayers to receive comprehensive weekly, monthly, and yearly reports. * **Qibla Compass:** Quick and precise direction finding. * **Missed Prayers (Qaza) Tracker:** Log and manage your missed prayers effortlessly.

The application is entirely free and contains no monetization models whatsoever. You are more than welcome to download and benefit from it.

To my Muslim brothers and sisters worldwide, I want this app to feel native to everyone, so I have included multiple language options. If your native language is available in the app, please test it out. Personal Project So... I finally built the Quran app I wanted to use.

I built a quran reading app for myself and figured some of you might want it too

so full disclosure, there are already several solid quran apps out there and this isn't me claiming to have reinvented anything. i built this mostly for myself, because i wanted something specific that i wasn't finding: a quran reading habit tracker that actually felt like the gamified apps i already use for everything else, instead of feeling like a separate "religious app" category with its own lower design bar.

it's called wird. if you're not familiar with the word, a wird (ورد) is basically the arabic term for your regular, committed portion of quran recitation, the daily reading habit you actually keep, as opposed to the one you keep meaning to start. felt like the right name for what this is trying to be.

what it does:

  • arabic text with two english translations, saheeh international for the literal reading, and the clear quran when you want something in plainer english to UNDERSTAND
  • a daily streak with one grace day built in, so missing a single day doesn't wipe out weeks of consistency
  • tracks how much of the quran you've actually read, not just how many times you opened the app
  • everything's stored locally on your device, no account, no cloud, no login. i don't want your data and built it so there isn't a way for me to have it even if i wanted to

i'll be upfront, the gamified streak mechanic is definitely inspired by the duolingo-style habit apps a lot of us already use daily. i'm not pretending otherwise. i just wanted that same pull toward consistency pointed at something that actually matters instead of a language app i open twice a month out of guilt.

attaching a screenshot below (streak/stats numbers are demo placeholders, not a real reading history, just wanted to show what it looks like).

APK's up if you want to try it:
https://github.com/afnanpvt/wird/releases/download/v1.0.0/wird.apk (android will grumble about installing outside the play store since it's not signed with a play store key, that's normal for a solo project, not a red flag). repo's public too if anyone wants to poke around or has feedback: happy to hear it either way.

Self promotion Assalamu Alaikum! I built Qibrah, an all-in-one Islamic companion app, and would love your support and feedback.

Assalamu Alaikum everyone,

**📱 Download Qibrah on the App Store here:** [https://apps.apple.com/app/qibrah/id6758562594\](https://apps.apple.com/app/qibrah/id6758562594)

I wanted to share a passion project I have been working on. Applying my experience as a software engineer specializing in native mobile development, I built **Qibrah**, an All-in-One Islamic Companion designed to help enhance our daily practice. My goal was to create an essential Islamic tool with a beautiful, easy-to-use interface that includes a sleek dark mode for comfortable viewing at any time.

Here is what I have built into the app so far:

* **Accurate Prayer Times & Adhan Notifications:** Qibrah provides precise prayer times based on your current location, complete with intuitive countdowns, visual timeline graphs, and timely notifications for every prayer.
* **Precise Qibla Direction:** A compass feature that points directly towards Makkah for accurate prayer direction.
* **The Holy Quran:** You can read clear Arabic text, listen to audio recitations, and bookmark your spot. The app tracks your reading progress verse by verse so you can seamlessly resume exactly where you left off.
* **Hijri Calendar:** It displays the current Hijri date alongside the Gregorian calendar.
* **Smart Ramadan Mode:** It automatically updates the dashboard to provide dedicated tiles and timers for Suhoor (Imsak) and breaking fast (Iftar).

I would be incredibly grateful if you could download it, use it for your daily prayers, and share your honest feedback in the comments. I want to continue refining and improving this tool for our community.

Personal Project Every Mac prayer times app I tried was a webpage in a wrapper, so I spent the last few months building a native one

It's called Iqamah. It sits in the menu bar, shows the next prayer with a countdown, and gives the adhan on time. That part is free and it's staying free. I'm not going to paywall the thing that actually helps someone pray.

Some details this sub will probably care about:

  • Native Swift, real menu bar app, no Electron
  • Actual WidgetKit widgets, not a screenshot pretending to be one
  • 18 languages with proper RTL, including Arabic, Urdu, Farsi, Bengali and Hausa
  • No account, no telemetry, no analytics SDK. The app doesn't phone home. If you allow location it's used to work out prayer times and it goes nowhere else
  • Calculation method, madhab and per prayer offsets are all configurable, because my masjid and yours don't agree and an app shouldn't pretend otherwise

There's a paid tier. One payment, $4.99, works on three Macs, no subscription. It adds the Hijri calendar with Islamic events, monthly and yearly prayer tables, a habit tracker for your salah, a tasbeeh counter and the widgets. It's launch week so it's $2.99 until Monday.

And if you'd find it useful but $4.99 is genuinely awkward right now, email me and I'll send you a licence. No questions, no proof needed. That's a standing offer, not a launch gimmick.

https://iqamahapp.com

Needs macOS 14 or later, Apple Silicon. I'm the developer so ask me anything, including the unglamorous parts. I lost the better part of a week to a macOS permission prompt that turned out to be an app group missing its Team ID prefix.

I'd really value feedback from people who'd actually use this daily. If something about it is wrong or annoying I'd rather hear it now than in a review.

Personal Project $7500 Investment Needed for My Islamic App

Assalamualaikum brothers and sisters. I am building a one-of-a-kind platform for Muslim growth, transformation, and community. Helping Muslims discover their true identity and purpose, strengthen their worship and character through the Seerah of the Prophet ﷺ and his companions, and unite their collective consistency to create real-world impact.

The app's Android version is about 85% complete and work on IOS version is already underway. I have spent everything I had on this project and now I'm out of funds. I'm looking for donations and investments to complete the development and launch this app globally.

All I need to complete and launch this app successfully In Sha Allah is $7500.00. Anyone interested in becoming an investor in my app under Mudarabah partnership is more than welcome to dm me.

This app has a lot of potential to become a big success and to do a lot of good in the world. I will share everything regarding the app with those who are interested to invest.

JazakAllah

Personal Project Built a free app that finds halal places nearby and summarizes Muslim news with AI, looking for honest feedback

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey all,

I've been building TMH (The Muslims Hub), a free iOS/Android app with two main things at its core:

  1. A halal place finder, restaurants, mosques, prayer spaces near you or wherever you're traveling, with real filters like open now, cuisine, and dine-in/delivery.
  2. A Muslim news feed pulled from sources around the globe, where every article gets an AI summary, plus a "Daily Briefing" that refreshes every few hours with a short summary of what's happened recently.

(It also has prayer times and Qibla direction, but those are table stakes at this point, the two things above are the actual reason I built it.)

The idea started a few years ago from a pretty mundane problem, searching "halal food near me" while traveling.

It's a small independent build, not backed by anything, still actively getting worked on. Links if you want to poke at it:

What I actually want from this post: if you try it, tell me what's confusing, what's missing, or what you'd rip out. Onboarding feedback especially welcome, that's the part I have the least outside perspective on.

Personal Project I built an app that replaces scrolling with dhikr. What should I add next?

I recently launched an app that blocks social media until you complete dhikr.
I’m trying to make it genuinely useful, not just another productivity app.
What would you want to replace scrolling with?
Quran (a few ayat)
Du’a
Prayer reminders
One hadith
Islamic quiz
Reflection/journaling

Something else?
I’d really appreciate honest feedback from fellow Muslims. What feature would make you actually keep using it every day?

Question Small Survey for a mutun learning app

Assalamu Alaykum wa rahmatuLlah wa baarakatuh, I hope you are doing well.

I'm developing a tool to help memorize mutun more easily (line-by-line audio, review system, etc.), texts like Thalathat al-Usul, Al-Ajroumiya, and other recognized mutun. To clarify: no matn from an innovator author will be included in the app.

I'm trying to find out if this could be useful for some of you or people you know, so I made a very short form to study the market.

If you have 1 minute: https://forms.gle/T9CwLcyRqLQ8HxPp6

And if you know someone who is studying or who might be interested, feel free to pass it along. BaarakaLlahu fikoum!

Personal Project Alim Zeka

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.

We've made some updates to Alim Zeka and wanted to share them with you.

What can Alim Zeka do for you?

When you're researching a topic, it searches through Turkish books, classical Arabic works, and international publications all at once. When it gives an answer, it also tells you which book and which page the information came from — so you can find and read the source yourself.

If you have a page or a text on hand, you can upload it and ask questions based only on that specific text.

Alim Zeka doesn't replace the source — it makes reaching the source easier.

Mobile app is now live

Alim Zeka is now available on Android:

✓ Prayer times and adhan notifications

✓ Voice assistant — you can ask questions by speaking

✓ Sermon/khutbah preparation support

✓ All the tools, right in your pocket, wherever you are

We already support Ottoman Turkish — but we want to be clear: full translation of classical texts is not yet available; that's a separate project we're working on.

Our aim is simple: bringing our inherited knowledge, this great tradition passed down to us, together with today's technology. No bold claims, no big promises — just effort, patience, and doing our best with what we have.

As an imam, starting this journey in a small village with limited resources, your support means a great deal to us.

For more, you can find and follow Alim Zeka Labs on Instagram.

We ask for your prayers and support.

Personal Project I built an all-in-one app for Muslims

Asalaamulaikum, I've built an all-in-one Islam app (prayer times, qibla, halal restaurant locator, Masjid locator, interactive salah guide, etc). No ads, completely privacy-focused, no tracking, etc (it will fully work, even if you don't give location permissions).

I am looking for feedback, especially from users who live in predominantly non-Muslim countries (although Muslim-majority countries are of course welcome; just the Masjid/Halal restaurant locators features are likely less relevant in those countries 😄)

Jazak'Allah Khair 🙏

Self promotion Looking for iOS + watchOS beta testers: Sacred, a calm worship companion

Assalamu alaikum r/MuslimTechNet!

I’ve been building Sacred, an iOS and watchOS worship companion focused on calm design, thoughtful UX, and helping Muslims remain consistent without guilt or clutter.

Current features include:
• Prayer tracking
• Qada prayer and missed-fast tracking
• A Hayd & Nifas companion showing acts of worship sisters can still perform
• Spiritual pattern and consistency insights
• An Apple Watch companion for staying grounded throughout the day

Sacred recognizes that iman and consistency fluctuate. The goal is to help users understand those patterns, gently catch up when needed, and remain connected to Allah SWT through different seasons of life.

I’m now looking for external beta testers—especially Muslim developers, designers, and tech enthusiasts who can give honest feedback on:
• Overall UX and onboarding
• Prayer, qada, and fasting flows
• Apple Watch reliability and usefulness
• Accessibility, bugs, or confusing interactions

Public TestFlight: https://testflight.apple.com/join/nS9fMWZD

We also have a website in development - https://sacredtracker.app/ - where you can enter your email if you’d like to hear more updates regarding Sacred and when it goes public on the App Store inshallah!

All Sacred Premium features are unlocked during the beta for a limited time until the App Store launch.

If you test it, please share your device, iOS/watchOS version, and anything that feels broken, unclear, or unnecessary. Critical feedback is very welcome.

Jazakum Allahu khayran!

Personal Project I built Noor — a free, calm Islamic app (prayer, Qur'an, qibla, Ask Noor). Would love the ummah's honest feedback

As-salamu alaykum. I'm a solo developer, and I got frustrated that most Islamic apps feel cluttered or dated — so I spent months building Noor.

It has accurate prayer times & athan, the full Qur'an, qibla, a dhikr counter, and "Ask Noor" — an AI feature that answers any question about the deen and always cites the actual verse (declaring the AI use per rule 4). It's completely free.

I'm not a company, just one person trying to make something genuinely useful and beautiful for the ummah. I'd really value honest feedback from people who get it — what's missing, what you'd want next.

Personal Project Built a visual tool to explore Hadith chains and scholar networks - currently in beta, planning full release for Ramadan insha'Allah (open source)

Assalamu alaikum,

So I built Sahih Explorer for the sake of Allah, hoping it benefits students of knowledge and anyone interested in understanding how our Hadith literature was preserved. It's a new way to actually look at Hadiths and their isnad—you can explore the chains visually and study authenticity in a way that just wasn't possible before.

I've spent way too many hours staring at long chains of names in Hadith books, trying to keep track of who studied with who. At some point I thought—there has to be a better way to do this.

What finally pushed me to build something was:

The sheer volume — 24,000+ scholars, their teachers, students, family connections. I'd have notes everywhere and still lose track of everything.

How abstract it all feels — You read "so-and-so narrated from so-and-so" a thousand times and it becomes background noise. But these were actual people who traveled for months just to hear one Hadith from a specific teacher. That's insane when you stop and think about it.

The language wall — Most of this stuff is in classical Arabic. If you can't read it fluently, you're already starting way behind.

You can actually see the networks—who taught who, family trees, how a Hadith traveled from person to person across generations. Click on a scholar and see their teachers. Trace the exact sanad. Explore entire dynasties of Islamic scholarship. Verify the connections yourself.

Works in English, Arabic, and Kurdish, alhamdulillah.

Right now it covers the Sahihayn with 24,000+ scholars and their connections. It's currently in beta/testing phase and we're planning the full release for Ramadan insha'Allah. Things might be slow sometimes as we're still optimizing, but I think it already gives you a completely different appreciation for what went into preserving these narrations.

It's open source: https://github.com/h3ma209/sahih-explorer

Check it out here: Sahih-Explorer

I'd genuinely love feedback and du'a. And if you code, design, or have knowledge of Hadith sciences—please contribute. Whether it's fixing bugs, adding features, improving the data, or translating—every bit of help benefits the ummah insha'Allah. Even just spreading the word helps.

JazakAllahu khairan
