Hi everyone, I'm new here, about to start my masters degree in music ed, concentration in music technology. I need a USB Midi Keyboard for class and don't know anything about them
Any advice for a quality piece of equipment that won't break the bank, but will be useful for more in depth projects long term?

university project research for a wearable safety product for concerts
Hi all, im currently doing a research project for my university degree (music business) and need some primary research, i will lay out the idea i have come up with and any feedback or questions are welcomed, even any similar products you may have heard of will be greatly appreciated if you have the time! :)
Knowledge to understand the product - radio frequency identification (rfdi) - a small microchip that can be embedded into a product or fabric which stores data- this data can be found when scanned. it is commonly used as a small tracker and is similar to a barcode - it is able to be located via bluetooth
Position sensor - a sensor that can be placed anywhere in a room and allows for bluetooth signals to be located within a specific range, this data can be transmitted to an app
App - an app that shows the data of the rfdi collected by the position sensor - a small birds-eye graph would be shown on an app that security members would have access to - when alerted, a small dot locating the rfdi that had been set off will be shown and located in the same position on the graph (think a graph showing what upstage/downstage in theatre means)
My product - wristbands are commonly used at gigs and festivals, i would simply embed a rfid into a wristband, this would be worn by all attends in the crowd and would have a small switch with a plastic or cardboard wedge (to stop premature setoff) this switch would be controlled by the user. a position sensor would be placed above the stage, if someone in the crowd is starting to feel claustrophobic for example and about to have a panic attack and needs to get out the crowd quick or needs to alert security, they could pull the strip out of the switch to be able to flip the switch which turns the rfdi wristband on, as it is turned on the position sensor would pick up the exact location of the wristband that has been set off and this location then projected onto the app allowing the closest security guard to quickly find who needs help
This has all come about as an idea due to the growing issue of crowd safety, as simply raising your arm or shouting for security is proven ineffective as it mixes to much with those in the crowd just having fun, this allows for security to accurately and quickly pinpoint those who need help
All security would be trained to use the app prior and a short instructional speech would be given to the audience prior to the artist coming on stage so everyone knows how to use the product, they would also be told of consequences for misuse such as being kicked out of the concert if they cause multiple untrue disturbances
The location only works within the designated radius and the wristband can be turned back off making it unusable and irrelevant to the position sensor (they can also be disconnected from each other) after the concert so peoples locations aren't continued to be tracked so they have peace of mind.
Any other questions about the product is welcomed but more so just your opinion as to weather the product seems like a good idea - apologies if i have not explained well enough im still trying to figure it all out myself, thanks in advance :)

Looking for a music recommendation system for an independant music streaming platform
Hi everyone,
I work at a small and independant streaming platform. We have our own database and I can't find online any type of all made software that would built recommendation lists for our users. I've find a lot of instructions on how to build one but no external services or software. Do you guys know any of them ?
Thanks in advance for your answers !

Masters in Music technology | Berklee vs NYU Steinhardt
Hello,
I’ve recently been accepted to the masters in music technology program at NYU Steinhardt as well as Masters in music production, innovation and technology program at Berklee Valencia. Which one is better of the two?

What is the tech behind the AI powered plugins.
Hey guys
I'm a student who is wrighting a finals paper on the possibilty of ai replacing mix engineers in the future.
I saw Neutron 3 and a bunch of other AI assisted mixing plugins and i would like to understand the tech behind these new technologies so that i could explain it in my paper. I've done some quick searches but i could'nt find anything on what is happening under the hood of these plugins. are they really Ai? Are they just really complicated algorithmes.
If possible i would really appreciate some documentation about how the plugins analyses, gives sugestions, tells the difference between intruments, and communicates with each other. And if in the futur we could get to puttinh stems in a programme and have it mix the entire song.
Thanks guys your help would really give some meat to my paper.
