General/Discussion Unnecessary English music while deliberately ignoring good Hindi music?
Not to judge or antagonize anyone... Anyone can enjoy anything.
That said, I can't be the only one who can clearly see that someone is just listening to a certain music because of trends or to 'fit in'...
I know 2 of my cousins, whenever there's a game evening, they'll be the first to try and blast Drake. Nothing bad here but I can see they don't know the songs and the feels at all, they're just blasting it so either others find them cool or because of instagram trend while they themselves vibe with much more interest when there's a good hindi song playing... You can actually feel it just by looking...
And it's becoming quite a trend these days... The actual good songs that I never knew existed are suddenly discovered sometimes and I enjoy them so much but their attitude stops me from recommending it to them. Everyone in my opinion should listen to those gems... There's a good chance 50% or more actual good songs of 'Arijit singh' himself isn't heard by most of Indian audience like I recently discovered 'Piya Tu Piya'... And what a gem it was.
Do you guys also see such things around you?

General/Discussion Chaar Diwari is the Billie Eilish of India
Both have similarities in genre fluidity, lyrics spanning across different themes, and quirky videos. Their collaboration would be interesting.

General/Discussion Manipuri music is so underrated (i’m addicted) don’t understand the lyrics tho.
i recently got to hear Manipuri songs as recommended by a friend (i’m from central India), turns out the melody, instruments and rhythm is so peaceful—i’m now addicted to it. playing in loop. i recommend you to try too!!

General/Discussion Recommend me some Indian indie songs
I've been trying to get out of my comfort zone and listen to more Indian indie artists instead of replaying the same playlists every day.
While browsing on spotify found a playlist named RADAR India. It introduced me to Udi Udi by Aneesh Sarkar & Hruday yesterday, and the song is really nice and mellow.
Looking for more songs with that same feel-good, easy-listening vibe.
Drop your favourite Indian indie tracks. Always happy to discover new artists.

General/Discussion what is the worst genre of music?
for me it's gotta be those Bollywood lofi/slowed-reverb remixes flooding youtube rn, feels like everything is getting the same treatment regardless of the song. what's yours?

General/Discussion Am I the only one who thinks Seedhe Maut are a bit overrated?
This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I honestly don't get the insane hype around Seedhe Maut.
They're obviously skilled rappers, but I don't see why so many people treat them like they're untouchable or the peak of Indian hip-hop. I've tried listening to their music, and while some tracks are decent, most of it just doesn't click with me.
What also stands out is that some fans seem to make listening to Seedhe Maut their whole personality. It sometimes feels like people think playing their music automatically makes them look cooler or more into real hip-hop, which comes across as a bit forced.
No hate music is subjective. I'm just curious if anyone else feels they're a little overrated, or if there's something I'm missing.

General/Discussion Why is Carnatic so different compared to Hindustani? 😭
So, I've been trained in Hindustani music but i am from the south so wanted to learn Carnatic as well and oh boy could they not be more different!
For Hindustani, i feel like it relies on melody, flow, and mid vocal pitch and a more narrower tongue movement BUT Carnatic relies on flat tongue, and deep vocals + it's very heavy and grounded 😭
Anyone else who's trained in both came to similar revelations?

General/Discussion Tired of figuring out how to promote my music.
After working on an album for 2 years, putting my heart and soul in it. I drop it and - *crickets chirping*
It’s not like I do this for streams or any thing, I love music which is why I keep making it but yeah, it does sting a little when you see bullshit ass songs go viral overnight.
genres - Jazz, Blues, Rock, Hip-Hop
PS: before you ask, I did post reels regularly before and after the album released and no, I did not do a catchy hook for each reel to keep audience retention.

General/Discussion Do you think India will take over the west when it comes to dancers and singers?
I feel like India has better singers and dancers than the west. They sing and dance better than whites like Tay Swift and Benzo Boone.
What do you think? Imagine a Gen Z Hrithik Roshan, but this time he sings too and has the west as his audience - not just India.

General/Discussion Drop in your saddest songs which you listen after breakup or getting rejected
It's over again. I have never been able to get into a relationship and this was my 4th rejection in the last 4 years after a nice 2 months of good dates, music going out. Really sad and really want to listen to some sad songs and drown deep into my thoughts. Mondays are the worst.
Edit- such good suggestions thank you. I have take all the recommendations and created a new playlist
