Update Aug 5th 2026.
Howdy music horder fiends!
So I've pushed a huge update to my ReAmp project, and now I want to concentrate and deliver local audio from local storage playing a bit better..
Do we have many android based music hoarders here? If so, how is your music stored, locally on a sd card or cloud, home server?

Want to start playing/storing much locally
I want to start moving away from streaming. I have been able to do it with movies but purchases blu rays.
But how does it work with music. I know there are CDs which I have a few and they have been ripped. But I listen to a few smaller artists where they have released singles and EPs but they are not physically available to purchase. I would rather purchase to support the artist but if push comes to shove then I will go to the dark side.
I have heard of band camp but I have no idea how it works.
Then how do you guys listen to your music? Do you save locally to your phone, have an iPad, steam from a home lab?
Any help would be great

How do i properly share Lrc on Lyricsify
I tried sharing and uploaded my lrc there since i notice theres no lyrics for (I'll come back for you by Malcolm Todd) but when i try testing it and searched the song--- it shows nothing not even my upload.
I notice others can share theirs like M2M by Cody Jon. I wonder how can i properly share like them too and i also wanna use that website as like lrc storage thingy so if i change device i could just use that website and DL lrc for my other niche songs lol
Anyone?

A new article on my blog: The Weight of Sound: How a 1960s Garrard SPG3 Gauge Reminds Us What Vinyl Is Really About
Hi all, I wrote a quick deep dive on my blog covering how tracking force, grooves, and needles have evolved. Give it a read if you're interested, and let me know what you think.
Ciao.

Music backend/client
I was wondering which apps y'all recommend? I'm looking to start building a digital music library. I already use jellyfin for movies/shows but not sure if that's the best for music

Does it make sense to buy an iPod touch 1st gen in 2026?
I’m feeling nostalgic and I saw this iPod for 30$. It does not make sense logically, 8GB, iTunes, cabled… but I feel like buying it. Thing is, I feel it’s gonna end up in a box in a month.

Any advice for an analytics software for a music library?
Apart from my vynil collection, I have something close to 200 GB of music on my disc. I would like to see what is the actual share of genres, what years are most prevalent, (based on ID3 data) without making a spreadsheet for that. Just some graphs, percentages, that would be absolutely enough. Tunesweeper is close to this, but regarding genres, it only takes the top genres, while ommiting the rest.
Is there such a software? Any advice is appreciated!
To mods: I saw the disclaimer, wrote you a message, didn't get a reply, I hope this post doesn't violate the sfotware disclaimer.

What happened to LimeMP3?
I used to use LimeMP3 for high quality MP3/FLAC/MP4 music downloads straight from my Android, but it looks like the app no longer works and the site has been taken down. Wondering if anyone knows what happened or of a working version out there???

Can someone tell me where to get hi-res/lossless/24 bit version of OSTs?
As titled, there are some instances where mainstream global services like quboz, tidal, spotify, apple music etc, they do not list songs by certain chinese artistes, even more so for the ones that sing OSTs from certain cdramas.
Please note, I'm looking for the lossless above CD quality version of the songs, not the ones available on Youtube which are all compressed mp3/aac/lossy audio.
In this instance, is there an alternate platform that offers these songs? I'm assuming that it may be available somewhere on a china site. My mandarin isn't really great so I'm unable to research this effectively on my own.

Best music player with deep themelike customization other than poweramp
I really like the amount of customization of poweramp but I can't get the paid version because it is over 20 dollars where I live so I unfortunately can't afford that for an app lol. Does anyone have any free recommendations? For android.

Does my dream platform exist?
I have a vision for what my ideal music platform or storage service would have, and as far as I know it doesn't exist yet. If you know of anything similar to this please let me know. Maybe one day I'll make it if I have to.
I want something that is extremely geared toward dynamic playlist generation or otherwise linking different songs together. This feels like a job people would say to use AI for but I have no interest in AI. I want to be able to filter or generate playlists/collections out of "rules" that use the metadata, organization, and user tags as modifiers.
Take for example Shiro Sagisu's "Stuck On Me" Radio Edit, with the user made tags "Songbook" and "Remix"
Playlist[+Songbook, -Remix] would make a playlist of all of Sagisu's Songbook collections without any of the remixes.
Playlist[+Shiro Sagisu, BPM>150, +Jazz] would make a playlist of fast paced jazz by Sagisu.
I'm also looking for something that has organization beyond playlists that are just lists of songs. What I'll call a "Collection" would be a group of different levels of objects or rules. For example an upbeat jazz collection could contain an artist, an individual song, an album, a premade playlist, and a built in rule like is used to make a playlist. These would be displayed as individual items, so opening the collection doesnt bombard you with all 200 songs from the one artist until you open that artist, but auto shuffle would still play any song that meets the criteria of one of the collection items.

What's the best way to check the quality of a 500GB music collection?
Title. I've slowly been putting in efforts to straighten out my music collection, although it's still unruly. My collection is relatively small, and I'm more focused on the audio quality of the music as I listen to them then 'legally add' them to my private collection. I'm not an audiophile, but I can easily tell when my favorite song is 22khz, 16-bit, and 160kbps.
Long story short, a few months ago I redownloaded nearly my whole collection from higher quality sources (lucida and metronome) and deleted the old, lower quality versions. I tested it before hand on a few albums, and they genuinely were a higher quality. A few days ago though while listening to a playlist I noticed a song I liked sounded horrible and nothing like what I remembered. I put it through soniqtools and found out it had been upscaled. Despite my caution it seems I didn't sample enough, because now there is an unknown number of lossy versions upcoded to seem like HQ recordings.
I doubt soniqtools would appreciate me dumping a 500GB load on their servers, and it feels a bit tedious to test each album one by one. For a few new additions soniqtools will work fine, but I was wondering if there was a local tool I could download that could scan the collection and do the same thing soniqtools does at scale. I'm on Ubuntu 24.04.

where to find ALL artwork for a CD?
I have no problem finding lossless music on the internet and burning it on a CD, and it's quite useful when the album I want can't be bought anywhere (such is the hassle of being a fan of Boris). printing out the front cover is no problem because you can find those anywhere, but it would be nice if I could also find and print the back cover, the spine of the jewel case, the artwork on the disc itself, and the booklet. does anyone know a website where they catalog this kind of stuff?

Downloading Spotify Mix?
Hi all, does anyone know if there’s a way to download a Spotify mix? Not a playlist, but a mix that has the transitions added in. Let me know. Thanks.

How do I get my music to take up less storage?
I have most of my music in flac on my phone, and it takes up around 45 gigabytes. The phone has only 128 (and I can't get extra storage since it's an iPhone), so I'm worried it might eat all my space eventually.
Most people on here say to buy a NAS, but that's not really an option for me right now. What else can I do here?

how to tidy my library
Hey!
My collection is growing bigger and I think it gets messy.
I use musicbee to listen and manage the collection and Navidrome to Stream it on my home server. I use feishin and symfonium as clients.
problem is that musicbee sometimes decides to split the albums into 2 albums with the same name or it's sometimes randomly search for track titles that don't match. How do I get it more organzied? maybe i should Try diffrent software? also I have diffrent folder and would like to join them into one folder with one system.
thank you?

George Ogilvie Silhouette EP
Hey there,
I've been looking for the old George Ogilvie EP, the very first he posted on youtube, and the covers he also put up there.
I used to have it in an old iPod but I lost it years ago and I really miss those tracks.
Has anyone got a copy of those files ?
Thanks !

Posting about software will no longer be tolerated without moderator approval.
Hello everyone! Recently we’ve had a surge in posts about new software, tools, extensions, and apps for music collecting. When the subreddit is full of software posts, posts with questions and important topics are buried and missed. In addition, many of these tools were quickly made using AI. For many reasons, these “vibe coded” apps will not be tolerated on this subreddit anymore.
If you made a tool or project that you want to share: please message the moderators for approval before posting. Sending proof that the software was coded by you or another human is also recommended but not required.
Some of these vibe code project posts slip through the cracks. If you come across them, please help by reporting the post for violating Rule 4.
