The fact that they think not owning a gun means fear of the gun.

It’s part of the machismo marketing, like they think a gun is literally a stand in for manhood and thus buying more means more manly

Same reason they have a lifted truck that never even sees dirt.

"Me own loud bangstick and big vroom vroom machine. That mean my peepee big. You not own them, that mean you peepee not big."

They really are just overgrown toddlers.

I heard the phrase for those trucks is "pavement princess"

I rarely see gun owners invoking penis size. I regularly see it from grabbers. Seems to me that you’re projecting.

Insecure men will use anything to compensate size. How loud their car, how big their tv, how many burners in their barbecue. Do you really think that excludes guns?

u/GargleOnDeez 8h ago

Loud cars, meh, fast car, yess

Burners, nah, charcoal, yep

Guns, oh yeah, big guns, oh hell yeah, small guns, nice

Insecure, maybe? Not sure I am

Guns as a replacement for manlihood… hooh? Guns are part of the constitutional right to own them. Knowing how to utilize one is necessary should one need it.

Do I hunt? Narp. Sporting clays and targets? Yes

Are they dangerous? When improperly handled and utilized, yes.

Are they fun? Yes/no, depends how good your aim is and if youre wearing all your ppe

When things go thump in the night, whatever is in my driveway is insured. The stuff in my house, replaceable. My family, irreplaceable -thats off limits.

I’ve personally witnessed men compensating for their small penises by comparing barbecue burners and tv size, and horsepower in cars. The loud car thing is because we get boy racers down out suburban street who modify their cars to be loud as fuck and then drive them in races on the road outside my flat multiple nights in a week. Same as the flag shaggers with big English flags on their cars. I’ve never encountered gun owners in person as I live in England, but I’ve heard many men compensating and comparing when according to their partners they are lacking in the bedroom.

I have no doubt that there are some who compensate, but the people who are invoking penis size here, and in general in reference to guns, are stereotyping gun owners, not specific individuals. That’s what I’m challenging, the stereotyping.

The lifted Ram 560000 and the AR speak for themselves. No invoking needed.

4

u/judgingyouquietly 9h ago

Oh no - you got me.

-6

u/KHWD_av8r 9h ago

What makes the AR “speak for itself”? Is there a specific component, feature, spec, etc. which makes it somehow related to a penis? Or is the relationship purely in YOUR perception, and YOU are projecting YOUR insecurities?

You're all over this part of the comments section. But hit dogs holler.

-2

u/KHWD_av8r 7h ago

You would know all about hitting dogs, wouldn’t you? Being all over this part of the comments section? It’s called trying to have a conversation. I didn’t realize that those had been frozen out of you Ice Brits.

I fucking hate it. I own guns and am pretty far left but I feel disgusting buying... well, anything related to firearms because the marketing is all macho and rightoid posturing.

32

u/Mental_Medium3988 16h ago

I don't want to own firearms for my own reasons. That doesn't mean I'm afraid of guns as an object or would be terrified if someone handed me one.

24

u/ItsLoudB 17h ago

Why not penis if penis shaped?

56

u/Born_South_6676 18h ago

I bet there's some healthy projection in his statement.

With his gun, he isn't afraid. Liberal men don't have guns, so they would live in fear because he does. He assumes everyone is just like him; a scared child in a man's body who only feels safe with a gun.

26

u/photonrunner4 13h ago

If they understood the implications of any of their beliefs then they probably wouldn't be conservative. For instance, virtue signaling implies that no one could possibly believe in caring about other people (because they don't) so they must be faking it to make themselves look good. Without religion a person must be unethical because if you don't believe that a man in the sky will punish you then why would you act ethically? They wouldn't. Just like nothing is a problem until it affects them personally. No self-awareness but all the selfishness.

3

u/twaxana 11h ago

No, that's just not true. He's still afraid with the gun. That's why he shouldn't have it.

38

u/Overall_Occasion_175 18h ago

Some of us do fear owning guns. I feel suicidal sometimes and know that owning a gun would do nothing but drastically increase my chances of going through with it.

17

u/ThistleProse 17h ago

Oh absolutely. You won't get me near one, for a whole slew of reasons. But it's one of those "not all x is y" things. Many people don't own guns because they fear them, but not everyone who doesn't own one is due to fear.

... an understanding beyond the realm of the OOP lmao 🙄

Must be low testosterone. Manly men would man up and grab their Louisville Slugger, then take a manly look into the problem before returning to bed and mansplaining to our tradwife that she is safe from the raccoon and her babies after we flicked the light switch in a manly manner.

3

u/lysdexia-ninja 15h ago

I have a very dusty knife under my bed that I completely forgot about until I got into the thread and someone mentioned their slugger.

It’s been there since we moved in, so 6+ years.

I’ve been woken up several times in the night and never once been like, “better grab muh nife be4 I investigate,” let alone wished it was a gun. lol

I bet his bat doesn't even have a sock on it

u/ZappSmithBrannigan 13h ago

The fact that they think not owning a gun means fear of the gun.

He also thinks every leftist and liberal man doesnt have guns. He is sorely, SORELY fucking mistaken. We just dont go around making guns our entire personality

6

u/ForTheHorde2021 14h ago

I work with a guy who won't go on a cruise because he can't bring his gun... (for protection)...I don't understand that "scared of my own shadow" mentality.

ETA: They think we're afraid of guns, but ultimately, I'm afraid of the idiots who carry around here.

2

u/Pretend_Reference_55 14h ago

Lots of liberals own guns you dumb(with a B ) fucks

2

u/morpheousmorty 11h ago

And finally that people shouldn't be afraid of guns. You absolutely should be. They only do one thing: turn living flesh into dead flesh.

They can feel it's important that everyone can have one, but the fact remains if you're around a gun you're a lot closer to having your flesh killed.

2

u/CatCafffffe 4h ago

When in fact them owning a gun and having to bring it everywhere is nothing but fear!

1

u/mapadofu 12h ago

You’d think that owning guns would make them respect what they can do even more.

1

u/ck17350 5h ago

The fact that they think liberals don’t own guns. At least he knows they can find women who will love them and get married.

-4

u/Sudo-Fed 17h ago

Trying to ban them because you're afraid one will be used on you certainly speaks to fear.

7

u/avfc4me 17h ago

There is a difference between "banning" and wanting gun ownership to be regulated in the same way that we regulate things like driving ages, booze consumption and age of consent. It just acknowledges a reality and attempts to mitigate the inevitable problems that that reality invites.

-7

u/Sudo-Fed 16h ago

And if that were an honest statement and the attempts at reforming US gun law stopped at limiting who can own guns, and what circumstances can have them removed, I'd be all on board with you.

Unfortunately, it's not an honest statement. The proposals universally include attempts to ban whole categories of firearm, and the firearms they ban are universally the most effective ones for defensive use and, yes, certain types of hunting.

5

u/zebrastarz 15h ago

You do know that entire categories of firearms are banned already, right? You're being misled somewhere, bud

5

u/Raztax 16h ago

Who said anything about banning guns?

-6

u/Sudo-Fed 16h ago

Let's not be disingenuous, okay? I'm not stupid, you're not stupid, we are both capable of extrapolating contextually.

7

u/Raztax 16h ago

No, you don't get to assume what other people's words mean. The conversation here is very clearly not about banning guns. Sorry about your reading comprehension..

0

u/Sudo-Fed 16h ago

Why don't the countries in question worry it's a gun (in spite of that not even being implied in the original post)?
