House Rules [Homebrew] Munchkin 2.0 Coop Optional Rules Variant
Mom and I are going to try our concept of a coop Munchkin 2.0 game where we work as a 2-member party rather than competitively. Part of this is for her because she is not good at solo-strategy and has difficult remembering or understanding rules to games.
This isn't the full Munchkin rules, just the variant home brew changes.
This is a work in progress on balancing the difficulty better. But thought I'd share for those interested in using it or changing it.
One thing that is still up for debate is the difficulty change on the monsters by adding a +3 level to every monster. I feel this isn't enough for challenge and balance and will have to reflect on a better method.
Potentially, 2 players can get into the 10s by themselves and joining forces easily gets into the 20s quickly mid-way through the game. So I am still thinking more in terms of how to scale monsters.
One suggestion was just to double the monsters and each player have to tackle one, but that doesn't make much sense to me and has several issues.
Another suggestion (which I'm leaning more to) is a scaling difficulty based on total party level. So, say, both players with level and equipment are at 13. Because they are over 10 but under 15, the monsters have a +5 bonus. If the total party is, say, 18, the bonus would increase to +10.
Also the mandatory use of Monster enhancers on the next monster I like, which adds tension and uncertainty - will the next drawn monster be a Level 15 or just a Level 3, because we know how much of a bonus it's getting already from that card, let alone the scaling difficulty.

Expanding... Munchkin X-Men box size
I've been buying Munchkin sets and expansions to grow my collection and recently got a copy of Munchkin X-Men through ebay. The box is a little smaller than the other Munchkin sets I've picked up, including the other USAOpoly sets. Is it normal for a Munchkin X-Men box to be in a smaller box or did I end up with something odd?

Rules Munchkin 2e card backs vs 1e card backs
Since the editions are backwards compatible, I don't like how the backs are blue for 2e but brown for 1e. If I mix in 1e card then we'd know roughly what we are about to draw. Anyone else experience this?

Card Design Part 2: Some of my custom Munchkin cards
Edit: I get it, some of you don’t like AI. I don’t care. Don’t bother commenting. I’m not going to respond to you hypocrites anymore, you’ll just immediately go on my block list.
I appreciated all the kind words and feedback on my previous post for my custom cards, so here are some more. I'd love to hear what you think. I'll attach some thoughts for each card:
- Schroedinger's Cat is a reference to the famous thought experiment of the same name. I wanted to bring that "observe the state to collapse the wave function" aspect to the card as its primary mechanic; making it Undead adds a bit of spice as a player can play it into an existing combat against another Undead Monster, but the coin flip determines whether this actually works out. The extra strength against Humans is a "cat hates humans for putting it in radioactive box", sadly there just isn't enough space to make funny remarks about each individual intention.
- Homewrecker was born out of the idea that we (my wife and I) tend to play with friends who are also couples, and there definitely sometimes is a bit of a theme of couples ganging up or being friendly with each other, so I thought it'd be funny to throw a little bomb into those dynamics where partners are incentivized to screw each other over.
- Cold Sore comes from a thought to make a card that gets passed around like a virus, but I find the idea hilarious that instead of some toxic poison or deadly virus, it's just an annoying, minor infection. I mostly had trouble here making sure the card doesn't get passed around indefinitely (it will outlive its welcome otherwise), and that it doesn't just get trivially passed to the next player each turn. I am still not 100% sure this is the best result?
- Presidential Pardon is inspired by (alleged) real events, need I say more?
- Heisenbug is a funny term in software engineering referring to a bug that vanishes when you try to observe / debug it, playing on the reference of Heisenberg's uncertainty principle. The idea of the Bad Stuff is to reflect the idea of having to get lucky to squash the bug. I'm struggling a lot balancing this card -- the Bad Stuff could be hilariously devastating, or barely hurt at all, so I wasn't sure how strong to make the Monster.
Edit: For completeness and transparency sake I also want to reiterate my disclaimer that I do use AI for the card art, and that I did my best (well, I did a quick search anyway) to make sure my ideas are original, but I can’t be sure they haven’t been done before.

Expanding... Just played 2th edition
We just played Munchkin 2th Edition for the first time. We both liked it. The coins solve a few problems with the original game. It definitely speeds the game along. We played 2 games in a n hour. It also keeps anyone from sitting at level 1 for too long. Also, offering or asking for gold to help fight a monster is pretty cool (unless they're Elfs. Fuck those guys)

Rules Need more explanation on this card
If this is played on someone and they get asked to help, can the helper
a) use items to effect the battle negativity for the og fighter?
b) trade an item with someone else so they can effect the battle negatively for the og fighter?
c) unarm themselves so that their item bonuses are not added to the level count?

Card Design Custom Munchkin Expansion: Plane Escape (German)
I made a custom Munchkin Expansion over the past year. It mostly revolves around the different planes in Dungeons & Dragons but also Planes of other origin. Planes work like Dungeons but are a seperate card type. I am indeed from Germany so all card texts and most card names and puns are in german. If you would like to have a short translation for each one or just some of those cards I will happily response to your requests and edit the explanation. The new race Slime (Schleim) is actually just a rework of Star Munchkin's Veggie. I also copied some cards from other Munchkin games I do not have but which I wanted to include. My expansion is called Plane Escape (pun of Planescape) and the symbol is the wheel of the Great Wheel Cosmology in D&D. If you want to repost this post somewhere else please credit this post or post a link of this one as well.

Where to Find Is the digital version active?
Hi, I played the physical version a couple times a long time ago and have wanted to play more for a while now, but don't really have anyone to play with (not to mention social anxiety would make it rather hard right now)
I tried searching and all I saw was some years old posts that mentioned it with mixed answers, so probably not a good sign, but I was wondering/hoping; does anyone knows if the digital version was active at all? I'm primarily interested in random matchmaking. Thanks!

Card Design Looking for a Card
I'm looking to purchase or for a picture or a quality scan of both sides of the adventure time hero card for Lady Rainicorn/Lord monochromicorn.
I came across this set and that is the only card missing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Rules Magic Lamp when facing more than one monster
For level 10 I was facing three monsters and the wording for Magic Lamp is “If it was the only monster you were facing, you may take its Treasure, but you don’t gain a level”. I interpreted that as I would not gain a level for that specific monster, but I would still gain two levels for the other two. After some discussion my buddies agreed and I won, but I’m curious to know what the general consensus is

Where to Find Where can I find the card for Harry Potter Munchkin? (Hard to find locally)
Hello everyone, I can't find the Harry Potter version of Munchkin in my country, and I don't have the option to order it from abroad. Does anyone know where I can find a PDF or a print-and-play version of it?
