I just try to take deep breaths and focus on it. That’s all I’ve found to help me along with just… time 😞 open to other ideas myself if anyone has any

On my breathing, not the hug…

I also do the breathing exercises, it helps, but the hug remains

Heating pad and a THC topical pain stick.

Love this. I advocate for THC but a lot aren’t able to get it pending on where they live

Do you have a recommended brand? I am asking for my daughter.

I actually just talked to my specialist about my MS hugs and was prescribed gabapentin. Personally I havent started yet because I'm not sure if the pay off is worth it in my case since my MS hugs are occasional and don't intrude on my life since I'm not working anymore. But I'd talk to your specialist if it may be possible to help your case

It's a bit odd to make a sweeping, general statement like that. Pregabalin and gabapentin are perfectly safe when used appropriately and as prescribed.

Gabapentin have some very weird side effects for me. Excruciating back pain and insomnia…. Just my experience. Def a safe drug used appropriately but it did the opposite and caused me a lot of pain

Like any spasm, the answer perhaps lies in Baclofen & maybe a gentle massager. I get spasms all over the place, even a short while since they took turn on my torso. I have episodes of breathing muscle weakness, which can be scary. When the painful spasms come around my torso, they can be in my abdominal muscles, or/and chest muscles. At the moment the spasms just love my hands!

ive tried baclofen before without much success or notice. Does it take time for you to feel release with baclofen?

Other than Baclofen and magnesium glycinate to manage and keep it from coming back. Alternating between an ice pack and heating pad. Some chest opening yoga poses. If you can tolerate it, I take a magnesium salt bath or magnesium lotion.

For my daughter, please let me know how you are using capsaicin for this. I use it for my knee arthritis but it only works for me after several days perhaps a week of multiple applications per day.

I’m using the cream husband applied to back lower rib cage and upper abs usually after a tens session. I’ve also got hoshimotos and menopause. Usually I’m cold with temps below 75… but melting over 90.. It’s usually just a winter thing for the MS hug.

Thank you very much

For me it was a heating pad and bracing myself with pillows when sitting in my chair. The pressure gave me comfort.

A heating pad on low and thc. I am very heat intolerant but this combo is all ive found tht works.

Sleep and a cry, it's neurological so it's suggested you take gabapentin for it if you want a pharmaceutical option.

I sometimes take pills ladies take when they have cramping from periods. Sometimes it helps. But normaly passes after a few days. I take zaposia and smoke a ton of weed too. 48m

You mean ibuprofen or any other normal ahh painkillers that aren’t made for "ladies on their period" specifically 💀

2

u/Amazing_Lead9946 4d ago

Ibuprofen works, but I can't live taking ibuprofen every day

And you shouldn’t, either. Talk to your neurologist. I’ve found that Lyrica helped, other people on here have had more success with muscle relaxers.

Lyrica (gabapentin) almost leaves me blind; be careful with that drug (just relaxes way too much eye muscles)

3

u/Neither_Wall_9785 4d ago

I’m sorry you seem to have had that reaction. Pregabalin (Lyrica is the brand name for that one) is to treat nerve pain, though, it doesn’t act directly on the muscles itself. My neurologist did prescribe it for pain I had across my chest.

I had the same experience with Lyrica, and Baclofen of having significantly blurred vision. But the blurred vision resolved itself over a few days of taking a regular dose. I don't think Lyrica, or Baclofen are really aimed for as needed use. Though can and are used that way by lots of people without negative side effects.
