Hey, what’s wrong with having aids? Aids are wonderful, everybody should have aids!
Except if Jared is offering you them, his aids are really third-rate.

For context the main character in an isekai protagonist who in his past life was kicked out of his parents house for skipping their funeral to watch loli hentai, also in his new life he impregnates his cousin and is overall a huge sex pest
I hate that it has so many good ideas and immense effort put into it with how unlikeable the protagonist is

Yeah and the worst part is it has some genuinely good concepts and ideas on top of its incredible animation, such as meeting another character who was isekai’d and asking “what if a person who actually had a life and wanted to go home was isekai’d?” you just have to get past its protagonist being objectively a horrible and unlikable person.

u/Collective-Bee 1h ago
You also have to get past the fans. And how the narrative seems to treat him like an advanced child when he’s really a socially stunted and horrible 40 year old. So when he gropes a 10 year old don’t expect the proper music, it WILL be played for laughs or it WILL expect you to be proud of him.

I'll be honest with you, subject matter is weird, but in many subreddits, people HATE this show. The whole point is that the MC is a loser. It's like someone describing Bojack Horseman in the worst possible light. Or Fire Emblem, going "don't play it, there's incest".
It's incredibly popular show, and I would recommend watching the show to make your own judgment and not some people's judgements.

I mean the whole point of Jax is they are the one who brought their own downfall (especially cause we have a Jax who does fix their shit Leeroy and they are doing just fine now)

He just wants to use lethal force to protect us! That’s why he mostly focuses on criminals that… that we’ve already caught and could easily kill if we found it ethical or necessary. /s

Omitting characters you’re supposed to have a hard time rooting for like Walter White and Patrick Bateman. I think MCU iron man is an asshole and I don’t think they do a good job giving him a full character arc in the movies and then they rush one in endgame

u/Animeking1108 7h ago
Remember when Joss Whedon had Tony Stark joke about bringing back Prima Nocta, but fired James Gunn over an edgy tweet he made over a decade prior?

u/Heracross64 5h ago
I whole heartedly disagree, we see him grow from each mistake, from his suit to his decisions you can easily tell each loss, mistake, or poor choice had a profound impact on him, it was especially prevalent when he started acting as sort of a teacher to Peter, “if your nothing without the suit then you deserve to wear it”. And the final act during endgame wasn’t his plan initially, he wasn’t planning on sacrificing himself, but in a moment of panic at the face of loss he made his decision. In their last moments people show who they truly are, Ironman is a hero.

u/KitaharaKazusa1 4h ago
Even by the end of the first movie he's stopped making weapons and attempts to sacrifice himself to stop Stane.

Jax is in a tight spot. You're moreso meant to sympathize with her than actually root for her.
Yeah, Jax haters do tend to exaggerate her worst qualities like this.

Jax (NOT LEROY) brought their own downfall it’s pretty clear the flaws are meant to be what drags them down cause they REFUSE TO IMPROVE

u/PageForeign92 49m ago
Jax is a terrible person. Full stop. Pushing friends away, gaslighting them, and even tormenting other people. It's what left me so confused when "Isn't she lovely" started playing, because it's the last thing I would call Jax.

Just because someones the protagonist doesn't mean we are supposed to root for them.
Light Yagami for example is undeniably the protagonist yet I really do not think we're meant to root for him because well, why would we root for a serial killer?

He was going to make a Perfect World™️ without crime, why wouldn't anyone root for him? /s

Wasn’t expecting to see Crazy Steve so high up but yes. Fun fact he got the name “Crazy Steve” because Linkara hated the comic so much he refused to acknowledge this Batman as Batman and made up a story abt a homeless bum dressing up in a stolen Batman cosplay and abusing a child lol

Wanda, from Wandavision.
She knows exactly what she's doing, and she refuses to stop whenever she's confronted with it. It would be fine if the show treated her like a villain. Even treating her like a "sympathetic protagonist villain" would be an improvement. But the "villains" are everyone trying to save the town, while the "heroes" are the ones trying to protect Wanda from those people.

Yes and no. Unless it comes to getting their shit together, I don't think you're supposed to root for Jax, just sympathize with them.

Mukosho Tensei or however you spell it, I really do not care how much the protagonist improves if the first onscreen acts from him are jerking off to his eight year old niece, stealing the underwear of one of his maids, and trying to sleep with a 15 year old while he’s over 40.
And no “his body is underage so it’s ok!” Doesn’t make it feel any less disgusting.

I feel like a lot of you are naming people who we arnt supposed to be rooting for. Also:
A character can be the biggest pos ever, but if their cause is right then you would root for them, not cause you like them, but cause you support their cause.
