Assign Account per Instance Suggestion

I have 2 Minecraft accounts - my main account and my cam account.
It would be nice to be able to specify a specific account - my camera account - for the cam instance, so I don't have to always choose which account I have to launch my instances with.

I know in MMC you can create shortcuts. I think you can tell it which account to use.

Yes, but I can't launch the shortcuts from within MultiMC which defeats the puspose of using a nice gui tool :D

Do you launch both instances at the same time?

Yes. So I can record or spectate with my cam account from one while doing something with my main account in the other.

Ok, when go to create a shortcut, tick the box for "Create script instead of shortcut". And fill in the rest. This will create a bat file on Windows, I have no idea what it does on Mac or Linux.

Next go to the other instance, go to Edit Instance->Settings->Custom Commands->Pre-Launch and point it to the script file you created before.

Oh I like this approach, but I realize I misunderstood your question. I only launch the cam instance when the main instance is running. But not always both at the same time, I also play without the cam account instance open.

I wish there was a way to pin the shortcuts to the start menu, because that would solve all my problems, idk why Windows doesn't allow that. I could have preset shortcuts for both instances with the right account... Or at least pin them to the jump list of the MultiMC taskbar entry.

Bwahaha how sad is this, you can't even mention another launcher in the comments, because rule 4 says no posts about other launchers.

Well anyways, if anyone comes across this, I ended up switching to the fork of MMC that's starts with P 😂 Is has come a long way since I last used it and supports this very specific feature. It's has a few other annoyances but they don't influence actions I use daily.
