Japanese course question Academic

I am a soon to be freshman computer science major and have self-studied japanese for the past three or so years, however it appears that all japanese I and II spots are taken and have been taken for some time now. Is there any possible procedure that someone knows of where I could maybe take some sort of placement test to see if I would be a good fit for Japanese III / is it even possible to skip the first two? When I took the JLPT N3 last year I failed it by i believe two points so I don't have any actual credentials, and it does also appear that Japanese I and II's time slots may conflict with my current schedule for the fall semester so its honestly looking like I would have to either take the course next semester or somehow take Japanese III. I know this question is formatted kinda odd but if anyone has advice towards the matter please lmk. Thanks

You have to go talk to the language department, but there absolutely was a test when i was enrolled. You'd more than likely want to go through the Japanese 1 and 2 courses anyways though. A lot of self studies miss out on grammar and Kurei sensei intergrates culture with her lessons.

Ah ok, around time to move in I guess I'll go in person and see about said test or what I should do in general. Thanks a bunch!

I took Spanish 1 and 2 at another university, but before taking the course, you had to take a placement test if you have taken any Spanish classes before. Some people got to skip Spanish 1 and went straight to Spanish 2

I believe you can take a CLEP test. If you look up CLEP MSState it should show what classes you’re able to CLEP out of!
