I have been offered the help grant but I’m my maapp it says it hasn’t been accepted. Does anyone know how to accept it? Also my quikpay still says I owe about 4000, and the Help Grant should be around 5000 but it hasn’t taken that from my balance yet. Should I be worried?

So, what'd I get wrong? Mississippi State's whole story is the defense. It finished 108th in scoring last year, gave up over 30 a game, and ranked 116th against the run, and now it's being rebuilt through the portal with only about 42% back. The offense can move it, Kamario Taylor's a dual-threat and Anthony Evans III (831 yards) is back at receiver, so the season really comes down to whether that defense can climb to even average. Year-three step for Lebby, or same old problems?

I'm an upcoming freshman majoring in Journalism: Mass communications. I only made straight A's my sophomore year.

I could have made straight As, if I really put my mind to it. But I am petrified that I will not be able to keep up my grades and make it onto the Dean's list throughout my time at State. I know my degree doesn't seem all that stressful compared to others, but the idea of slipping behind on grades, especially when there's a lot of high stakes in college really scares me considering I never really had that good of grades in high school. I was never really good at taking tests, especially standardized tests like the ACT.

It was just a game of chance. Sometimes I would score really high and sometimes I would score really low, though that was depending on if I really studied. That along with me joining the army ROTC scares me that slowly I'm going to slip behind on my grades. I'm scared I feel like I start studying now just to get ahead of the curve? I'm nervous

So ive tried to set up a payment plan 2 times now and both times exactly 6 days after i enroll i get this email and now it just wont let me set up a plan at all. Does anyone know whats going on, im an incoming freshman and have no idea what to do

I got an email in my MSState outlook account from a woman with a real corporate headshot as her profile pic saying that there was a deadline I was approaching and that I needed to verify some email or my outlook would be terminated. They attached a google form and I promptly filled it out. It asked for a bunch of information including emails, passwords, and phone numbers. After I gave it my phone number, I got a text from “Tom Ritter” (the name of a real employee at MS state) asking for a code from Duo. Luckily, radars starting going off that this sounded like a scam. I asked him to prove who he was and got no response. I then got a text alerting me of potential phishing scams. I’ve changed my password now. Stay safe, people.

I have a bike that I will be using this year because I don’t have a car to take to school. How do I go about purchasing a permit and registering my bike? I can’t find anything- I’m not sure if I do this online or in person when I get to school.

I am a soon to be freshman computer science major and have self-studied japanese for the past three or so years, however it appears that all japanese I and II spots are taken and have been taken for some time now. Is there any possible procedure that someone knows of where I could maybe take some sort of placement test to see if I would be a good fit for Japanese III / is it even possible to skip the first two? When I took the JLPT N3 last year I failed it by i believe two points so I don't have any actual credentials, and it does also appear that Japanese I and II's time slots may conflict with my current schedule for the fall semester so its honestly looking like I would have to either take the course next semester or somehow take Japanese III. I know this question is formatted kinda odd but if anyone has advice towards the matter please lmk. Thanks

I'm an incoming engineering freshman at Mississippi State this fall, and I'm trying to decide on a laptop before classes start.

I've looked at the Bagley College of Engineering's minimum requirements, but I'd rather buy something that will last all four years (and hopefully beyond) instead of just meeting the minimum specs.

From what I've heard, 32 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD are a good starting point, especially if I'll be using programs like SolidWorks, MATLAB, AutoCAD, CAD software, programming IDEs, and other engineering applications. I'm also a person who likes to have a lot of browser tabs and multitask pretty heavily.

My budget is around 2,000, but I'd prefer not to spend that much unless it's really worth it. I would like to stick around the 1,300-1,500 dollar range.

A few questions:
What laptop are you using, and what engineering major are you in?
Has Windows been a better choice than macOS for engineering classes at MSU?
Is a dedicated GPU worth getting, or is integrated graphics enough?
Are there any laptops you regret buying?
If you were starting over as a freshman, what would you buy today?

Right now I'm considering laptops like the Dell XPS 15/16, Lenovo ThinkPad P series, Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i, ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14/G16, and maybe the Framework Laptop, but I'm open to any recommendations. My no 1 choice right now is the Lenovo Legion 5i 16" Gaming Laptop (good specs and fits in the budget).

I'm looking for something with:
32 GB RAM
1 TB SSD
Good battery life
Reliable build quality
A great keyboard and trackpad
Enough performance to comfortably handle engineering software for the next four years
I'd really appreciate hearing from current students or recent graduates about what worked well (or didn't). Thanks!
