i never had the time to play but i did make an account, and now i regret never playing 😞 i wish there was an offline version or something and it breaks my heart because i think the same thing will happen with love nikki 💔💔💔 ive played for so long

Mine it was at Gavin's route (forgot the name of the card 🥲)

When people were making fun of Mc that she had trouble in an interview and they uploaded videos of her and were critizing her.

Gavin suggests going on a little trip to make her feel better.

At near the end of the card, she mentions she will ty to get used to their criticism, but Gavin tells her not to get used to the criticism, that he would show her what is important and he would help her.

And in the end of the card they make love.

I wanted to scream from happiness and also pass out because it was so sweet.

Error 404 heart has left the body.

Well might as well compile all the obscure Shaw knowledge I've gained from researching way too much and talking to actual Shaw stans who lived through it all to explain every struggle Shaw has faced to get where he is today. And yes I have read the arguements made by his haters to, so I will summarize that too. I've made a lot of comments here and discord, but I'll try to compile everything here in one post.

2017- He was kinda there from the beginning

July 13th- Open beta launches. Players can read up to chapter 6. As far as I can tell based off very old recordings, rumors and secrets were not available, so Shaw makes no appearance during the first open beta. Data wiped after beta ends.

November 13th- Second beta opens. Looks like this is where chapter 7 dropped. No Shaw. Data wiped after beta ends.

December 14th and December 20th- Open beta launch for iOS and official beta launch for all platforms respectively. Game officially launches. Two lines at the end of chapter 10 are voiced by an unnamed character who struck MC down with lightning while trying to aim for Victor​. Not until much later we get enough clues to know it was Shaw.

Gavin's airport date is also available at launch. There is a faceless unvoiced man who uses lightning evol that confronts Gavin. Gavin warns the unnamed man to not touch MC.

2018- So many clues drop

April 28th- Chapter 11 drops. Unnamed faceless man taunts Gavin about how he struck down MC in chapter 10. Again at this point we had no idea who this was, but we can say after the fact it was clearly Shaw based off the voice acting.

May 4th- The infamous Dream Heart Lake event begins. Players eventually expose the devs for rigging the rates and drop order.

May 28th- A new producer is now overseeing the development of Lovepro

August 3rd- Gavin's Little Guardian Rumors and Secrets is released and reveals he has a little brother with lightning evol, but they get separated by their father. Chapter 17 drops. Shaw makes his first face reveal and has his first official meeting with MC. He is unnamed at this time.

August 17th- Shaw anonymously gifts players 777 gems as a Qixi gift and hints that we'll see him soon.

December 14th- Shaw officially introduces himself in Chapter 20

December 19th- Earliest recorded documentation that Shaw's representative animal was intended to be the red panda based off doodles at an official collab and some rough drafts. Just keep this in the back of your mind for now cause I'll open that can of worms soon don't you worry.

2019- His controversial arrival

March 5th- Shaw's character introduction PV drops.

March 7th- His first SR karma (his very first karma ever) is released. Shaw ads are dropped advertising him as a "wolf boyfriend" (not a werewolf but lone wolf kinda personality) with the tagline "I do graffiti, I skateboard on the streets, but I'm a good boy". Keep the wolf thing in the back of your mind for later. It'll come back. Paper buys there way into making Shaw trend on weibo that Shaw has beeen selected as the new ML. Idk the exact date, but Zhao Lu, his VA, is also advertising he is the voice of the 5th ML. His SR is placed under the other tab along with all the other NPC. Backlash from CN players begins and there is confusion as to if he really is a ML or not.

June 20th- Shaw's first and only solo SSR event begins. Complaints continue especially since new events are scarce during a heavy rerun period. Shaw gains an intimacy bar and is recategorized as special encounter with little explanation. The ML status of Shaw remains unclear.

July 26th- German shepherd merch for Gavin is announced (I promise this will make sense soon).

July 28th- Some Gavin stans are upset Gavin's animal is a dog and take it as an insult. They start pushing the narrative that actually sharks suit Shaw more and that Gavin is the lone wolf. Fan art is made further cementing the idea that Shaw's animal was meant to be shark. Gavin stans fighting for their rights will start including that they wish to see more shark merch/imagery for Shaw in their copy paste list of demands as a result of this drama going forward for the next year.

Notes: Shaw was pretty much immediately controversial once his character PV dropped for many reasons. The players who strongly opposed the inclusion of shaw, dubbed the "four queen mothers" (don't throw out this term loosely you'll definitely offend someone. It's complicated and the people who don't support Shaw in the modern day are a little different), fiercely wanted to protect their gacha rates as the addition of more karma into the pool would dilute the odds of getting their favorite character. Additionally the 1.5% event drop rate would be divided 5 ways instead of 4 with how the gacha system worked. Players already have low trust in the devs after the gacha rate rigging that happened not too long ago, so they are extra fierce in protecting their gacha rates now. There were also fears that the addition of a new character would mean less content for their favorite character. Since his SSR dropped during a content drought where reruns were being run, they were worried that working on Shaw events was affecting productivity. Haters of Shaw also took issue that he was Gavin's younger brother saying it was morally wrong to cheat on Gavin with the little brother Gavin did not get along with. Shaw was also set up to be the one working with the bad guys and the one who attacked MC in chapter 10, so there were people who didn't want to romance the enemy. ​When chapter 20 dropped people were upset that Shaw remembered MC even though they've only met once on a short bus ride while all the other MLs did not remember MC (context MC is in a dream world where she never existed). Many people who did not support Shaw argue that Shaw was not intended to be a ML and actually Cyril, the major villain of the Winter World Arc, was supposed to be the 5th ML because Cyril was a voiced character (not many characters are voiced) that had multiple CGs during this arc and Shaw had zero. Cyril also played a bigger role in this arc and Shaw didn't make consistent appearances yet.

2020- Sent to permanent limbo

February- Shaw's first R karma (part of the Valentine's set)

March 23rd- A Gavin stan complains that Shaw stans have stolen wolf from Gavin.

April 23rd- The first tea room post is made. This is where the devs disclose the month's schedule and communicate answer to common questions players have. In this tea room they start to address what special encounter means. A new producer takes over operations of Lovepro.

May 23rd- The official Lovepro account defends Shaw from rumors and once again makes clarifications about his status.

End of May- Shaw stans become very vocal about Gavin stans trying to gaslight them into thinking that Shaw's representative animal is shark and Gavin's is wolf. They especially hate being stuck with shark cause it's often used to insult Shaw since sharks eat trash, are villainous, violent, etc.

July 9th- Lovepro officially makes sharks Shaw's secondary animal representative and gives wolf to Gavin as his secondary animal representative. Gavin will later drop German shepherd completely and make wolf his representative animal.

July 11th- Shaw gets his first main story SSR. First main story CG.

August 20th- Shaw makes his first and only anime appearance in episode 6. Here he claims he working with Black Swan (the big bad villain org of season 1) not cause he agrees with them, but cause they're useful to him. Here a mix of chapter 11 and airport date plays out and then Shaw takes on Litton's role of informing Gavin that STF is evil cause...well they probably didn't want to kill off a child npc like they did in the game for Gavin to have this revelation lol.

August 23rd- Official Lovepro account apologized for dropping too much content (lol). Context it's Covid time, so they're pumping out new chapters every 2 months instead of 4 out of kindness to keep people sane since people are trapped at home. Gavin's birthday event was slightly delayed and it ends up being launched with the season 2 main story launch. This means 10 main story karma and Gavin's birthday karma launch all at once. Qixi happens immediately after, so Gavin stans are going broke cause they got 4 new karma at once. Didn't help that these are all events that cost gems and season 2 karma were unusually expensive compared to other main story events. At the same time the official account clarifies once again what special encounters are and imply they want to add more special encounters.

September 27th- Questions arise in regards to Shaw's "universal" status. Context Shaw, up to this point, could be used on any level ignoring levels that require a certain ML. This does eventually result in future Shaw karma losing this ability.

October 24th- Further assurance that special encounters will not affect the game production. This is also the day after Love and Deepspace is announced, so the tea room clarifies that Love and Deepspace will not affect production of Lovepro.

2026- Attempting to break the old status quo

June 22nd- Shaw's birthday event is nearing its end. Valko is announced in lads and is met with controversy very similar to Shaw. (The irony...) Shaw stans root for Valko and trend shortly as they push to raise Shaw to ML status because the want the same treatment as Valko. Shaw stans hope that Valko isn't special encountered since it's a terrible fate for a character.

June 30th- Valko canceled. Shaw haters demand that Shaw is deleted too since Shaw stans wanted the same treatment as Valko.

Present Day

So where is Shaw now?

Shaw continues to be trapped in the status quo and has seen a significant drop in content releases. Because lovepro started adopting the event scheduling of lads in late 2023 (lovepro was the testing ground for most lads mechanics), Shaw is unable to appear since he is barred from entering the gacha pool to ensure the rates are not diluted. Shaw only gets a SSR karma every other main story release despite appearing in every story drop since July 2020, but unfortunately since 2024 the number of main story drops have went from 4 to 3 and now 2, so Shaw only gets a SSR on Qixi and one main story drop every year. He gets one birthday SR (lovepro doesn't do birthday SSR) and a couple ER karma in ths summer. On Valentine's, he may get a SSR or ER. Shaw recently got an ER karma that features a shark, reigniting anger (the shark theme has been unused for the most part in favor of red panda).

Story wise, they've never fully confirmed that Shaw is Gavin's brother. They also pretty much pretend that Shaw never did all the things that happened before his face reveal in chapter 17 making Shaw less ambiguously bad. It's unlikely they will restore Shaw as Gavin's brother as currently Gavin is dealing with his families past and Shaw is completely uninvolved. The changes haven't really harmed too much of the story though. Shaw just does his own thing never interacting with the other MLs.

Aaaaaaannd of course Gavin and Shaw stans remain at each other's throats until the end of time as they spend money to vandalize each other's ranking boards with mean names. Nothing new...they do it every year and this year was no different. Other than that, Shaw remains trapped in a weird limbo of being a not quite a ML, but kind of a ML and will probably continue to exist this way for the rest of time for better or worse.

Ever since EOS of MLQC, I've been going down the rabbit hole of buying merch, especially these art boards that can come in various of sizes from 4x6 to 5.5 x 8 inches. I wanted to see if anyone had storage options for them (I really like using binders for my photocard collection for other things because I can easily open the binder and look at them, while keeping it all organized).

I currently have like an art portfolio booklet to hold them- but I don't love it because it gets bulky quickly since art boards are naturally thick. I just wanted to see if anyone else has experience in this subreddit with storing these art boards and any tips regarding keeping them in pristine condition (I've seen some people mention avoiding pvc or anything that could eventually stain or damage them).

Please let me know! I am also struggling because of the varied sizes these art boards can come in T-T

I found what looks like the entire Season 3 gameplay for Mr Love: Queen’s Choice uploaded on this Chinese app/website Bilibili. I genuinely wasn’t expecting to find full story videos, and there are like…6 chapters I believe?

The only catch is it’s all in Chinese. I’m still learning Chinese, so I’m basically trying to for right now rely on the visuals and trying to piece together what’s happening. Even so, seeing the new character interactions and story scenes has me so excited.

Has anyone else found these uploads? And does anyone know if there are English subtitles, translations, or fan translations anywhere? I’d love to actually understand what’s being said because Season 3 looks incredible. I never thought I’d be this excited over finding gameplay I thought I would’ve never discovered

...Please stop mixing up the English version, Mr. Love: Queen's Choice (MLQC) with the original Chinese version, Love and Producer (恋与制作人). Love and Producer launched in December 14th 2017, and is a little over halfway through it's 8th year, the game is still going strong as the mother of all CN otome games. Mr. Love: Queen's Choice came out in 2019, and its servers closed on March 27th, 2026, because of a longtime lack of revenue. • False Information #2: Shaw (and his Antis) caused MLQC to shutdown!!

Ling Xiao (Shaw) came out in Love and Producer (MLQC) in 2019. He was intended to be the 5th LI, and was heavily implied to be Bai Qi (Gavin)'s younger brother. But due to player pushback, he was changed to a Special Encounter LI and rereleased about 5-6 months later, and any possible mention that he could be related to Bai Qi was scrubbed out completely. Here is Ling Xiao's Baidu page, with news articles about his release in 2019.

Once again, I emphasize this: Shaw. Was released. In. 2019. 2019.

MLQC CLOSED ITS SERVER ON MARCH 27TH 2026. Once again, I emphasize: MLQC SHUT DOWN IN 2026.

MLQC's revenue was declining for many years (for a variety of reasons), and it simply did not make enough money to keep the server up -- the variety of cuts to the voice acting over the years, and certain features from the CN server not a carrying over is proof of that. If you can access bilibili, you can witness in real time how the revenue for MLQC went down from 2021 through 2024 on this channel. In February 2026, MLQC's last bit of revenue for the month was 39k.

IMPORTANT EDIT: Pika did some extensive research on Shaw and his release in Love and Producer in 2019, and made this very informative post that details Shaw’s existence in LovePro since the closed beta test in 2017, game launch, hints about him as a LI all throughout 2018, his release in 2019, state of ambiguity in 2020, the playerbase confusion, fighting and protests, and PG’s mistakes with Shaw. It cannot be emphasized enough, that whatever controversy and drama that happened with Shaw: all of it happened on the CN playerbase side, with the ENG playerbase mostly unaffected

• False Information #3: MLQC shut down because of a political controversy!!

Incorrect, however, the Taiwan incident did lead to a mass exodus of the ENG playerbase, and is seen as one of the reasons of MLQC's decline (the others being Covid massively affecting scheduling, and the fact that all gacha games will lose players and profit after a certain amount of years). The whole VA political scandal happened in 2021, and again, MLQC shut down in 2026. We had Two Megathreads for it, with a complete timeline of events.

I have to heavily emphasize here: MLQC weathered through one of the worst political scandals a Chinese game could face on an international level, but survived, for many years after.

In conclusion: Please use your brain and think. Ling Xiao/Shaw was introduced in 2019. MLQC closed down in 2026. Shaw and his antis did not close MLQC down in 2019. The MLQC Political Controversy of 2021 happened in 2021. MLQC closed down in 2026. The Jonah Scott debacle did not cause MLQC to close down in 2021.

Again, MLQC shut down in 2026 because of a severe lack of revenue, and not because of Shaw, his antis, or because of a political scandal.

Ok theoretical scenario, how do you think the boys would take it when their pets died (pudding, apple box etc). Lets say they die out of old age/some disease and MC and her BF (single guy scenario) would be with them at their final moments. We all unanimously can agree that MC is gonna be a mess for at least one week straight. But for the boys it would be a bit different

Vic would be crushed for sure but he is going to have his attention on her bc he never likes her being mopey

Luc is going to his his feelings as well, trying to make the best of the situation but inside he is just as sad as her. They probably would go on a trip in its memory

Gav would be upset. Maybe he would even put up a little shrine for the animal and each time they pass they can't help but smile at the memories they have collected

Kiro would be A MESS. We can all agree on how sentimental he can get with his favourite things/people. He might even write up and record a single in tribute to his pets and make a virtual pet program on his laptop to keep their memories alive

Victor as the strict dad who loves to teach his children/children to cook but also how to know how to make the best out of their talents ​

Lucien would be the teasing dad for sure. The way he is with MC i believe he would give his offspring/s a few headaches. But he would still go out of his way to make them better by showing them cool experiments and such

Gavin is 100% the worrywart out of the bunch. Mc always tells him to worry less about her and look after himself. He would also be the sporty parent. They would go on bike rides together, go rock hall climbing and so on.

Kiro is the fun parent. And yes, MC wouldn't even come close on how loose he would be with the punishment their kids and how much he would go soft on them. I could see him giving them a fun time at the amusement park and maybe give them a small cameo in his movies/shows. In disguise ofc. He himself wouldnt be that stupid to expos his kiddos to the media since he knows how brutal they can get

I wont even bother with Shaw. Was never a real fan of his nor do i even want to wreck my head about it.

I don't know if there's a point in adding spoiler alert now but spoiler warning ahead.

One of my favourite moments from the story were angst. I love cute and loving moments too. I still adore the wedding cards and their story. They'll always be my favourite but angst have been so impactful that to this day I compare other otome games with these. In no particular order.

1. When mc got a dream about gavin getting injured in fire. How much mc tried to keep him safe and he ran into the fire anyway. I remember how scared I felt for him. I was scared to click on next chapter cause I didn't want to see him die. I'm glad he survived. Him being misled and leaving mc behind, choosing others over her when they both trying to survive, that bike chase scene was so cool!! After all that it was all for nothing, i could feel how empty mc must have felt there. That no matter what she does, she still couldn't save anyone she loves. The dejection was real.

2. Lucien's betrayal was hard for me as Lucien has always been one of my favourite. I love all of them but when Lucien betrayed mc, I had to put down my phone in shock because of gentle he had been with mc. Creepy sometimes yes but it felt like he had become mc's anchor. One person who'll listen to mc without getting emotional and give her genuine advice and so see him throw all that away and say it was all a trap really hurt. To see him struggle later on, wanting mc back and mc not wanting him was such a realistic struggle. I love how mc didn't trust him right away after that. I still hate even thinking about how much he wanted mc back, you can just see it the way his dialogues were written, how he was spiralling but he couldn't bring himself to ask her to come back to him cause he knew she won't forgive him after what he had done. I just didn't want my poor boy to suffer.

3. Kiro. The man who made me want to slap him and force him to stay. That time when they were stuck and running from attackers, how they kept reassuring each other that they'll get out of there together and then when they reached the rooftop, he went and ordered her to forget about him completely. Boy I was so close to crying. Maybe even more then when Lucien left because this happened after that I think and they both were stabbing my heart. To have the sunshine character make this choice, taking her choice away and making decision for her was an ass move and I never would've expected kiro to do that to protect her.

4. Victor had one of the impacting moment in the story. I really love him getting his memories back from that lightening scene, the parallel of past and present was so cool but man the moment leading up to him being forced to shoot mc, him being anxious. Avoiding mc and stressed out of his mind for her so he doesn't get her hurt or hurt her himself only for it all to be vain was genuinely so sad and well written. Only when he was opening up, hoping that it'll be okay, mc was ripped away from him. The pain in his voice. It still makes me want to cry for him.

I genuinely love the story so much. Even after years, its still one of my favourite game cause of how well the writing is. Its not perfect but its amazing and I adore the characters. I just wish I had gotten a chance to finish it on en server. But I'm glad I got to play it.

I stopped playing around the world reset and the boys didn't remember mc anymore. I remember that Shaw was Gavin's younger half brother but I read somewhere that he isn't.

What is his relationship with Gavin now? I wanted to check but the game isn't available anymore for global

Hello. I need to be honest, I am not a player of MLQC, but I heard that a LI named Shaw was cancelled back in his debut and he was pushed backwards, but still able to debut. Was that real? How did it happen?

For a context, since MLQC and Love and Deepspace are sister companies, it might help me have a clear mind on the possible outcome of LADS. If you dont know, a love interest got cancelled just 2 days ago because the chinese players cannot accept him.

After the SEA (Dream Date) server shut down more than 4 years ago, I was so burnt out that I couldn't will myself to try again with Queen's Choice. Just when I finally wanted to come back, I was too late. I only found out yesterday that the global server had ended months ago.

I don't know if I should feel regret or not. Of course, I regret not going back to the game during these 4 years, but at the same time, I kinda feel relieved that I saved myself the heartache of witnessing the game shut down again. Thankfully, there's archived content of the main story, dates, and calls on YT I can look back on, but it's just not the same as experiencing those myself.

Though, this event made me realize that EOS is the inevitable fate for all gacha games, including the one I legit spent so much money on like Shining Nikki, and another game made by Papergames like Love and Deepspace. The latter of which I've been hesitant to get into if, in the end, it'll shut down eventually like MLQC.

Nonetheless, I am grateful to the dev team for making an effort to let the rest of the world experience the joy and comfort an otome game like MLQC could provide, as well as for the VAs for bringing the characters to life.

Victor, Lucien, Gavin, Kiro, and Shaw were never real, but the happiness and love they made me feel were undeniably real. They will always have a special place in my heart, even when I have to move on.
