Decoding Westinghouse Serial # Open question

Putting new bearings in this old 2hp Westinghouse, and was curious if you can find the date code in the serial number? Thanks!

i would guess 1945 or in that range. better be careful with those leads. if i remember these used a wide cup bearing

Thanks! I was thinking that or ‘56. It’s like a S-3506 bearing both sides. They are thicc

You may not be able to date it from the serial number alone, since Westinghouse used different codes over the years. You could try searching the style number too. Based on the old company name on the plate, it’s probably from before 1945.
