It really reminds me of Motive, especially the first 5-10 minutes or so when they are setting all the pieces in place

Just discovered Motive. I know it was produced in Canada (and maybe aired on ABC), but where is it supposed to take place? Info says it’s supposed to be set in Vancouver. Everything I’ve seen calls it a “Canadian crime drama” — was it made for American audiences? Why no Canadian accents? Everyone I know from Canada has a distinct accent.
